Hi Jared, I’m new into guitar playing. (Steel strings Norman B20 for now) Now that I’m 64 years old I finally decided to start seriously practicing. I’m most interested in fingerstyle but man how hard is that. I’ve been practicing 1 to 2 hours a day for the last 6 months and it feels like I haven’t even begun. Thanks to guys like you I’ll keep going. However chosing the right instrument is another very long confusing journey. I see that you’re using a fine size guitar which could fit me as well. I reckon it’s fit for fingerstyle and it’s a Martin but can you tell me the type? That could save me a lot of searching time. Thank you very much in advance for your help! I’m look forward to receiving more videos espespecially the ones with fingerstyle lessons. Kind regards, Jaap from The Netherlands

Thanks Jared. I like the way you're talking of training the brain to hear the different parts of the picking pattern. I'll definitely start trying that in my practice today.

Great lesson, Jared. Been practicing Tommy Emmanuel's boom chick method for over 6 months now, still struggling with the Freight Train song. Your approach appears easier to follow, and I shall give it a try. By the way, the Martin in your video looks more like an LX1e than SWOMGT (from the smaller scale length and overall appearance). Thanks a lot...

Great lesson, but kind of advanced. Do you have a lesson similar to this for less advanced players?

It's a Martin SWOMGT from around 2012. Spruce top, cherry back sides and neck, katalox fretboard and bridge
