I've ordered two standing H bars for my Outback and both arrived with the pre-drilled holes on the cross bar out of alignment. Very frustrated. The first one also had a pretty big scratch. The main reason I bought the H bar was to make sure I could ease myself down into the seat so I don't develop a crack in the hull that has happened to so many other people. I like my boat but it is getting harder to like Hobie!
Thanks for the feedback. We will address it with our supplier. Since the H-Bar is aluminum, it's easy to open up the hole a little bit with a 3/16" drill bit, or use a drill when inserting the screw. This helps the screw go in and helps the center bar seat properly in the deepest part of the elbow fitting.
@@HobieOfficial You would think after this post, over a year ago, this would be corrected, but I guess no. I just received this kit yesterday. Someone at Hobie needs to look at quality control of this product. It's like the template drilling hole is off about 1/8" on both sides with this product. First issue, H-rail clamps were missing from the box, although this could have been a dealer issue since they opened the box to insert the receipt when shipping. The dealer has taken care of this issue. Second issue as stated over a year ago, the cross bar holes are misaligned. On one side, the the bar seats all the way into the elbow, but screw hole is short of hole. The second screw hole, when aligned with the hole, the bar can not seat all the way to the elbow, so the elbow will crack if not drilled out to fit deeper into the elbow. I tried flipping the cross bar opposite direction , but it is still misaligned. After putting it together, it causes a misaligned of the whole structure. The two arms rest in the opening of the front of the kayak, not on the flat mounting spots. The structure arms have to be spread slightly, about 2", to mount the "vertical mounts" on flat top of the kayak. I'm sure over time, this undue stress will crack the elbows or vertical mounts. Very disappointed this was known over a year ago and just ignored.
I purchased the HBar for my 2019 Outback. It came w/ a bungee cord that had a hook on the end. Where do I install that bungee cord and where will it connect to?
The bungee cord is used to secure the top of the H-Bar to the front handle of the kayak when the H-Bar is in the folded down position. This keeps it in place and prevents it from rattling around during transport. The bungee can be shortened as needed depending on the kayak. Loop it around the center bar of the H-Bar and secure it to the front handle.

It's safe to get up in the kayak while it is out of the water on stands? I would think that is horrible for the hull, am I wrong?
If you have the deck pad kit, do you attach the feet over the deck-pad?
Can I get the specs on the hardware for mounting the foot plates. I lost all hardware.
Why no silicone when installing? I would think the "better safe than sorry" would apply.
Teşekkürler .
Does this void the 2 year hull warranty?
As long as you follow the recommended installation manual included with your H-bar, there's no void of hull warranty.
