You say you're not a professional, but your teaching review was fenominal. Better than the pro's. I thank you so much for taking the time to show all that the machine can do. This is the machine I've been looking for. Thanks and many, many blessings.❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! I had the Project Runway for over 9 years, and used it frequently. It was getting a little touchy, so I found this new version on marketplace! Thanks for the instruction. I do love Brother sewing machines! With good care, they really can last a lifetime. I love the tiny, subtle visials such as the bobbin loading photo and the arrows that it needs threaded. My favorite thing about the machine is the needle threader. Because of the needle threader, I can still sew, even though my eyes are really bad. Hahaha Ok, and that was my TED talk for this week! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've been doing some homework looking for a great sewing machine for my Wife. I looked at every modeI.. checked out reviews, etc.. Then i got down to this model and another model.. But this one was my #1 pick. Then by watching your video you confirmed my choice. Thanks.! Great job explaining everything about this model.. I'll get it for my wife, her birthday is coming up.! Thank You again.!
What a nice thing to do for your wife. Happy birthday to her. Glad my video was able to help you with your decision. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoy mine, now that I have had some time with it. Thanks for watching~ gina
Thank you so much for this video. I have this same machine but haven't used it yet. Loved how you explained all the components, you did a great job and inspired me to try my machine. Would love to see more videos as you learn more things. TFS.
My daughter just bought me this machine for Christmas. I am so excited to use it! It's been years since I have sown anything. Thank you for this tutorial!
How awesome is that Tami! I use mine mostly for paper crafting and an occassional felt project but I am still as happy with it as the day I got it! I hope you will feel the same. ~gina
Your video is the first I’m watching. I purchased 3 heavy duty singers this month and had to return them all because the needle positions were off and the bobbin timing also. So I’m ditching singer for a brother. Thanks for the video
Thank you so much for this review. I been researching a new machine and I too was thinking about the project runway but now seeing your video I think this is one is perfect for paper crafting and those stitches you showed on the paper made me giddy ❤️🧚♀️
Thank you, Gina, for the demonstration. My Brother PC6000 just died and I'm going today to pick up my SQ9285. The only thing that I will miss is the automatic thread cutter. Otherwise, it looks very similar. I really loved that Bro, and know I will love this one also. Oh, and thanks for showing that we can sew on paper! That's great!

I got a Brother Project Runway, I got it back in 2000. I have had it right at 21 years. Absolutely loved it, but it was old, my needle threader and reverse button wouldn't work all the time along with the changing the stitches . I figured it was time for a new one. I have the same Brother sewing machine you got. I am loving it! I don't like how you thread it the top or to wind a new bobbing, it is a tiny more difficult then my old one. But I am just used to the old one. A far as threading the needle and changing the bobbing, it is the same on both machines. And the thread sits sideways on the new machine. 4 reasons I wanted this machine, 1 it had a ton of stitches, 2 it has the letter fonts and 3 it is a brother and 4 it had a walking with the arm attachment. I haven't had it very long and still trying all the stitches. I broke my left wrist in May and haven't been able to sew for 2 months, because I messed up my ligaments and tendons. Still not 100%, but I am getting there. At least I can do l some light sewing. Trying to learn free motion quilting and thread painting! I hope you enjoy your machine as much as I do! Happy Sewing! :)
@@calledtobeadaughterofzion892 Thank you so much! It's a lot better now, I still don't have 100% movement, but you lear to work around your limits. My wrist gets stronger every day and that helps :) . I will always accept prayers, thank you again! :) ❤️🥰 🙏
Wow! Great machine! I have a brother but, don’t remember the number. It doesn’t drive itself to Wendy’s and back though...lol. Enjoy using it! Let me know if you find any good patterns to try! Hugs 🤗
Thanks for your review. I recently purchased same model, was hoping I made a great choice and looks like I did. Hoping to make my visions be put to the test💖
You are most welcome....I have had it for a bit now and I am really glad I got this model....hoping you feel the same way once you play with yours. Thanks for watching ~gina
Hi Gina, You did an awesome purchase. You are going to love it. I have the model SQ9000 . It looks almost the same but its alittle more rounded on the top. It is a gem and so easy to use. I'll share a pic on IG. Enjoy and Tfs Carmen
I am wondering if the thread stays on the spool holder. Because I have one that lays down and the stupid thread comes off sometimes. I don't understand the concept if it doesn't work that great. Lol. And another question is if the thread pulls out of the needle can you pull the thread and retread or do you have to unthread it back to spool and start over again. These are two problems I have with my babylock melody sewing machine. And I hate it for those very reasons. Have been looking at this machine but don't want to invest in it if it does same type things as the one I already have. Thanks for your answers I hope
The thread holder has a sort of cap that slides on it after you put the spool of thread on ...it holds it in place. In regards to the thread coming out of the needle (first of all, in all the time that I've used it, it's never come out of the needle). So I made it come out so I could see. And yes you just re thread the needle without having to go through the whole threading process. Hope that helps. I still love this machine as much as I did when I first made the purchase and did the review.

@Scrappinology my husband bought this machine for me on Friday it seems to work nice. The thread even stays on. My other machine it just pulls the cap off. Way to much stress at that point. So far I'm happy with this new one. Thanks for your input. Makes me more assured I'm not wasting money this time.
When you did the different fancy stitching did you have to switch the foot petal between each stitch?? My project runway u have to switch the foot probably every 10 diff designs
Hey Toni....do you mean the pressure foot? If so, it seems like many of the fancy stitches use the N foot (even the alphabet) although there are others that require the different feet. It is just so easy to switch them out on this machine. I hope that helps..if not just let me know.

Hi, In this video I used felt and paper to sew on. I do paper crafts so that is why I got this machine. It cost $199.00USD which I think is an great price for it. I am sure it could be helpful for what you want it for. Thank you
Hi, I recently bought this model and liked all of the features as you mentioned. I am having trouble quilting! It seems that the platform can not handle the bulk of the quilt sandwich as I stitch???
It’s been a year, do you still like the machine? How is it holding up? Does it offer suggestions for tension? Do you ever get jambs? I love to know your thoughts now.
Yes, you can but you need to use the proper sewing needle and sew at a slower speed. If you plan to use these types of fabrics often you would probably do better with a heavy duty machine as this one is mostly for quilters. Hope that helps (sorry I can read spanish I just cannot reply in spanish)
I learned a lot on this video-have not had my machine long. I am searching for a video about using the alphabet. I can see how to choose it but not how to make it do it.
