My father studied here (PHD Economy 1966) and he has a lot good memories from his friends and techers. I think he can remember every single moment. He keeps shouting "Go Eagles!"
@@modebeamaka2481 I've attended the place. All the glitter isn't gold. I can honestly tell you going there was a mistake for me and awful experience. I'm not alone and can name multiple graduates who would support such a notion.
It’s one of the most expensive colleges I’ve visited and the Boston area alone is like living in New York, I couldn’t be there I wish but very expensive.
Best video tour I've seen so far! Great stuff, and thank you for explaining the athletic aspect of the school as well. I haven't seen any other school do that.
Wow this video had me admire this college so much more than I already do, definitely my first pick! It would be an absolute blessing to go here!! I'm applying this year and hoping for the best
I was a student there from 1989-1993. Unfortunately, it doesn't look the same as it did then. It's a real shame because it was so incredibly beautiful back then. Most of these buildings and activities, like the dancing competitions, were not available when I was a student there.
What did it look like in the 80s-90s? Based on the tour, it looks lovely now but I’m sad about how much our physical environment is degrading everywhere.
@@amysill3815 It's kinda hard to explain but it was really gorgeous back then. There was a HUGE quad near the main Dining Hall. The Dining Hall was called McElroy, and it was really awesome!! Near the main dining area was a little cafe called Sweets and Treats. It kicked ass. You could get pastries, coffee, frozen yogurt and other such things. Tons of people used to sit in the quad. One guy I knew back then even sold flowers there.
Please elaborate. We are looking into this college for my daughter and I see these negative comments sprinkled throughout but no one gives any useful details.
@@amysill3815 The school grossly exaggerates its successes. As an example no presidents, billionaires, Nobel prize winners etc ever graduated from there. The school has to many core curriculum classes many in subjects neither easy nor useful. The tuition is to much. I can discuss further
No. The curriculum is not faith-based or focused on religion. However, there is clearly some attention given to preparing for a career with the understanding of ethical and honest dealings with others. As everywhere, I assume, there's the opportunity to practice one's faith to the extent that each person wants to do. (observations from a Golden Eagle!)
No. There are better in the U.S. Do the 22 juvenile little emojis mean something to you? They mean nothing to us. This is how 5 year old kids like to communicate online.
Very impressive, but how is the coffee and biscotti in that part of Boston ? Any 700-year old architecture ? ruclips.net/video/Som4dxYJVGU/видео.html I wouldn't even begin to guesstimate what a 4-year degree would cost in Florence, but I guess anyone prepared to live that far from home has it covered. Seriously, BC almost certainly looks better on a CV, but for the art history crowd this would be the experience of a lifetime, with every other Renaissance hotspot just a few hours away. Buon appetito !
Having graduated from the school I can honestly say the education was not worth much to me. Its a school which educates on subjects which are utterly useless.
@@amysill3815 Perhaps the first area to explore would be the fact that this is a very Catholic school. For many catholic schools, the close association to "the Church" limits the college experience significantly. I know this video makes light of the Catholic association. But when so many professors and administrators are priests, the lack of diversity in the learning experience becomes obvious. Catholic priests take vows to the Church that exclude many life experiences in the non Catholic world. Your daughter likely would have a better college experience elsewhere.
There is no doubt that BC is an excellent and beautiful college. However If i was a student in BC, I will feel extremely frustrated whenever I compare BC to the neighbor colleges, MIT and Harvard.
I graduated in 1972. I had an absolute blast! People who get hung up on Ivies do themselves a disservice . A school like BC or peers like Wake Forest or Duke can deliver a better experience with the same professional opportunities. Life on a suburban campus is more laid back. If you can demonstrate need, you are nearly guaranteed to have no $tress! Go for it!
I can honestly say there is doubt in my mind. I graduated from the college and while I ultimately did well for myself the schooling was laughable and the environment was poorly conducive to the objective of learning. Much of the curriculum was irrelevant and overall I think if held to the scrutiny it should it'd come up empty handed. Take for example alumni - unlike Harvard which you compared it to, there are no former President alumni, no secretary of states, no noble laureates, no billionaires and really no one all that important. Its endowment has been flat for a decade despite an inflationary and generally favorable investment market (2008-2023). I felt the education was very much lacking by an insistence on learning utterly worthless things to the distraction of useful subjects. I regret going there and it was a mistake.
@@amysill3815 It means it's a college based on educating people with facts yet the people in the video on campus are singing songs about bronze age fairy tales.
