HeyJim! I basically agree with your ranking. I actually enjoyed Love is for Suckers more than Come out and Play, BUT you made a big omission here... I think the track "The Fire Still Burns" from COAP is a total masterpiece... Please redo the video... start over... You have to tell the world...LOLOL! A Kiss Ranking would actually be good if you know all their albums. If you don't know their "no makeup" era, then the bitter pill will be to tough for you to swallow... ;-)

Of course, everything on their 6 first studio albums is solid gold classic, but I'm steering you towards their heavier 2 albums here...
Good video, I honestly never expected you to do a Twisted Sister rank em all, since I think they're more rock then metal. But I do feel like they were one of the better hair metal bands.
I agree with 100% in order. I'm originally from New Jersey and saw them a bunch of times early on. My friends and i called ourselves SMF's after the song too. I saw them on Come Out and Play tour at Radio City Music Hall. It was worth it alone to see Dee Snider crawl out of a manhole cover on stage to the opening track to open the show. But that's about it. Dee's more recent solo work is a lot more promising...
It's very interesting how diffent taste people have. You always love the "heavier" albums out of all the bands that you talk about 😁. I don't mind bands who release some more "polished" sounding albums. And if it sounds " poppy", so what? I don't have to prove to everybody that I'm a tough guy who only likes super heavy rock/metal. Sometimes it's nice to rest your ears to more melodic rock. Anyway I like your channel and your analysis.
I don't know about that. I prefer less heavy albums in many cases, I prefer show no mercy to reign in blood when it ocmes to slayer for example. Cheers!
Being an old fart, I remember seeing the video for "You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll" when I was around ten back in 83/84, and being totally blown away by that raw catchy energy. Can't remember exactly where I saw it, but this was way before MTV here in Sweden, so probably on some weekly music show that featured a tiny bit of metal on each episode. Life as a young metalhead was rough back then 😅 For whatever reason I never bought the album as a kid (or any other TS album for that matter) but two years ago I ordered the cd. Now I probably should pick up "Under the Blade". Don't think I've heard much from that album at all, and for some weird reason, up until watcing this video I always thought UtB was the band's second release. Sometimes it only takes 40 years to find out you've been dead wrong all the time... 😁
@@RuthlessMetalYT Skål för fan! 🍺 I also vividly remember my grandma asking me around that time if the music magazine I carried with me was a porno mag, because of Dee Snider in full regalia on the front cover. That felt very... awkward 😂
Honestly Stay Hungry is still my favorite Twisted Sister album as it was the first one I was exposed to. And there are other great tracks (deep cuts) on there besides the obvious hits. I haven't heard their other albums as much. But may give them another spin and see how they have held up. And I actually like the Christmas album and enjoyed it when I first heard it. It was cool to hear Christmas songs done in heavy metal. lol
Got the Ruff cuts ep after hearing them on the Friday rock show(ordered up from the local music shop). Under the blade came next from Hmv on oxford street, after a mad fifth form school outing. Saw them at donington and they didn't disappoint....ahhh some good youth memories. I think there albums were indicative of the general decline in rock/metal during the latter 80's...such a shame that they couldn't capture that raw live sound on album...and like you say they sort of sold out to mtv and radio like a lot of others.
Never cared for TS but I watch anyway because I enjoy your commentary, could you rank the Trouble catalog? I was a big fan in the 80s, Eric Wagner (rip) one of my favourite vocalists all time
Totally agree with your ranking on this one. Was never a huge fan but the debut is definitely the best. Is this your first ranking that is completely in reverse order from the way they were released?
Here are a few interesting facts. Dee Snider was a big fan of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors, about a gang that has to cross dangerous enemy gang territory to get to safety after being framed for the death of a rival gang leader. At one point they are hiding in an apparently abandoned apartment building, and one very stoned but dangerous rival gang member is sitting outside in a crazy looking car clicking empty beer bottles together rhythmically and taunting them, "Warriors, come out to play." That line was the inspiration, as you might have guessed, for Come Out And Play. Dee Snider even mimics actor David Patrick Kelly's slow, menacing delivery of the line on the album, except it's, "Twisted Sister, come out and play." The song "The Leader of the Pack" is actually a reworked cover version of the du-wop classic by early 60s girl group the Shangri Las. The lyrics tell the story of a motorcycle gang leader who fatally crashed his bike after his girlfriend's father forced her to break up with him. The original was told from the point of view of the girlfriend. Dee had to slightly adjust the lyrics to the viewpoint of the biker himself, which made it even more morbid and creepy, since the "dead" man was narrating the events of his death. Twisted Sister seems to me to have followed the same career trajectory as Def Leppard. Both bands released two blistering, hard heavy metal masterpieces, then hit mainstream mega-success with a still pretty hard, but slightly more mainstream hard rock album, then sold out to poppy slop. Come to think of it, that's pretty much Motley Crue's output, too.
@@patricdahlin6174 Pyromania I liked. But it had its saccharine sweet radio friendly elements, too. A buddy of mine liked Hysteria, but I never really got into it.
Nice video;) I'd classify first 2 TS albums as Heavy/Glam Metal; 'Stay Hungry' as Glam/Pop Metal(this is where they went commercial) and the next two as Commercial Hard Rock ('Love is for Suckers' is not Metal at all) My Ranking: 1- You Can't Stop Rock'n Roll 2- Under the Blade 3- Stay Hungry 4- Club Daze (their early demos) 5- Come Out and Play 6- Love is for Suckers
I was a die hard fan of the first 2 albums and Hated Stay Hungry when it came out and how it ruined them when they were on their way to becoming a solid metal band. However you should check out "Still Hungry " again and compare it to the original. They made it way heavier! Surprised you didn't add the "Club Daze" albums on your list.
I don't include compilations so. ;) Yeah that's often the case with re-recordings and I don't know if I ever heard a re-recording where I prefered the new one. :) Cheers!
My top four TS album rankings : #4- “Love is for suckers”(mostly great songs and heavy rock), #3 - “Stay Hungry”, #2 - “Under The Blade”( It’s hard to not say that it’s my favorite, great album, tied with my number one), #1 “You Can’t Stop Rock n Roll”(Just an all-out great metal album, the title song is by far my favorite TS song but the whole album just kills).
Twisted Sister were at their best and most powerful before they ever started recording records. I agree that their best (and, to me, only album worth listening to) is Under The Blade. It somewhat captures the sound of their pre-recording club days. After Under The Blade, forget them. Also, I kind of thought they looked more like the New York Dolls than Kiss. What always makes me laugh is how Dee Snider acts like they were some sort of legends, when the truth is they really only had a couple of hit songs over a short period of time.
TS is proof that all you need are a few hits and you can have success for the rest of your life... got into them on Under the Blade, was 13 when Stay hungry came out, I was WAY too into it ha ha ha a Captain Howdy, SMF and burn in hell were my favorites on the album.
I first saw a twisted sister 1980 at the mad hatter among island for some reason the wiki page does not even discuss the four song EP they released that’s the only records we had for a few years
1. Stay Hungry 2. Under the Blade 3. You Can't Stop Rock n Roll 4. Come Out and Play (Great album marred by a couple of bad songs- much like Turbo) 5. Love is for Suckers (Still a great Pop Metal album)
I agree with your ranking completely, the debut is their best by a country mile in my opinion, they never really followed it with anything quite as good,
Stay Hungry was my intro to them, and I thought it was great, but after listening to under the blade and you can’t stop rock n roll, I started finding stay hungry to be pretty basic
Hey, what about doing and rank em all of Loudness🤔 I’m guessing you probably haven’t listened to all their material tho😂 Jay Jay French has said the reason the band eventually broke up was due to the inclusion of that cover of ‘The leader of the pack’ they decided to include on “Come out and play” he says “The song worked while we performed it in local bars, but didn’t translate well when recorded for a studio release” I guess that’s true since they faded into relative obscurity after that. I mean “Love is for suckers” is still a great album, but I’m being a little biased, since I automatically will love anything produced by Beau Hill😂
@@RuthlessMetalYT I only stick with the stuff with their og vocalist or Mike Vescera, I have never touched any of the releases that feature vocals of the guy who fronted another Japanese metal outfit either. What about Candlemass then? Though Messiah is my clear favourite, Johan is a close second and though he’s a great vocalist, Mats Leven’s voice has just never clicked with the way the voices of the other two have.
I'd have to rank them as the following: 5. Love Is For Suckers-not very good pop metal, but some okay songs here and there, Dee's voice fits melodic rock really well, but the songs are so cheesy 4. Under the Blade-a pretty good album for the most part, but there's a few songs that are just really big and dumb and boring in an AC/DC sort of way 3. Come Out and Play-a surprisingly good album in my opinion; I like the commercial, melodic tunes, and there's a few super heavy, speedy metal tracks 2. Stay Hungry-I would put this at #1 except those 2 big hits are so stupid and I don't care to hear them every again 1. You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll-their most solid album top to bottom, truly not a halfway bad tune on it anywhere
I don't own the stuff after the 80s but i do have the 5. Its probably the same as yours maybe 2 and 3 swapped round. I still enjoy them but the 80s stuff by WASP is something I go to a bit more.
yeah, I'm not the biggest Twisted Sister fan myself but they are a band that has always been there and some of their 80's albums are pretty good. Cheers!
Misfits I'll probably never do since it's off topic. Danzig perhaps even if I'm quite a noob on his more recent works. He lost me with that industrial sounding stuff. Cheers!
They were a band that worked very hard for what success they did have. They were not the best songwriters or musicians but they did have a few really good songs. I am and the price are my personal favorites. I guess if I had to pick one stay hungry would be my favorite album from the studios but I like their live album the best from Hammersmith.
Despite the quirkiness of the Twisted Christmas album. I find it hilarious to play during Christmas time with certain friends and family around. I passionately hate all the pop Christmas music everyone plays from Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney, so I like to dial up some obnoxiousness with a Twisted Christmas. And “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” video was hilariously ridiculous. It’s a Christmas tradition in our house. 🤟
Love is for suckers is actually a Dee Snider solo album that the record label decide to slap the Twisted Sister name on it and got the out on the road. Big mistake by the record label..
Why? It still sold 250,000 copies and I really like it unlike most other people. If it came out as a Dee Snider solo album in 1987 it would have struggled to sell 50,000 copies tops
@@JCStorm76 Despite me having it ranked at #4 on my list, it's a pretty good album, just on a Twister album. Love is for Suckers gets a 3.975/ 5 Grade (B)
@@mirko1382 Yes it’s way better than most people make out. Very underrated. I realise the more metal type of listener wouldn’t appreciate it. It’s number 3 on my list
Heavy doesn’t always mean better. I like all these albums but my ranking is very different and probably unpopular. 1. You Can’t Stop Rock n Roll 2. Stay Hungry 3. Love Is For Suckers 4. Come Out and Play 5. Under The Blade

I tossed all of my TS merch/music when I first saw the tampon commercial featuring We're not gonna take It. The anthem for a generation used to sale tampons? To hell w/dee shitter.
I used to respect those guys, but stupid actions & interviews by Dee Snider and Jay Jay French made me lose a lot of respect for those guys. Just recently saw a Jay Jay French interview where he was putting TS on the same level as AC/DC 😅😅 😅

But that's about it. Dee's more recent solo work is a lot more promising...
Yeah the new stuff has definitely another tone to it. Stay hungry! Cheers!
Life as a young metalhead was rough back then 😅
For whatever reason I never bought the album as a kid (or any other TS album for that matter) but two years ago I ordered the cd. Now I probably should pick up "Under the Blade". Don't think I've heard much from that album at all, and for some weird reason, up until watcing this video I always thought UtB was the band's second release. Sometimes it only takes 40 years to find out you've been dead wrong all the time... 😁
Yeah I remember when MTV came but I was unaware of them for quite some time, at least beyond their 2-3 biggest hits. Skål!
@@RuthlessMetalYT Skål för fan! 🍺
I also vividly remember my grandma asking me around that time if the music magazine I carried with me was a porno mag, because of Dee Snider in full regalia on the front cover. That felt very... awkward 😂
So in an alternate universe where time flows backwards, Twisted Sister gets better every album.
Exactly, I think that's the case for most bands. I don't know of any bands that were better by 1991 than in 1981. :D
@@RuthlessMetalYT I think Running Wild might be the only exception to that rule
Thank you, for video. If you ranked glam metall, inevitabil rank up W.A.S.P's albums.
Some day I might. ;) Cheers!
I love Twisted Sister. First time ranking a glam band. 👍🏽
glam or hard rock or heavy metal. ;) Stay hungry! Cheers!
It was cool to hear Christmas songs done in heavy metal. lol
yeah, it's definitely their big album. half of the songs that the classic rock radio stations play are from that one. :D Cheers!
perfect ranking in my opinion. i saw them on the come out and play tour. nassau coliseum new york
Thank you Sir. Nice. I've just seen Dee solo. Cheers!
Very cool video!!!
Cheers!
Cheers!
🤘Great ranked🤘#1n'2 my favorite🤘
Cheers!
This is only way to rank these albums
They were cool live in the early 80’s
……. Still hoping you rank ANVIL 😎
As usual great video 🎸🎸🤩
Thanks boss! Cheers!
1/ YOU CAN T STOP ROCK N ROLL
2/ STAY HUNGRY
3/ UNDER THE BLADE
4/ COME OUT AND PLAY
5/ LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS
Stay hungry! Cheers!
Never cared for TS but I watch anyway because I enjoy your commentary, could you rank the Trouble catalog?
I was a big fan in the 80s, Eric Wagner (rip) one of my favourite vocalists all time
They are definitely a band I've thought of doing, we'll see what the future holds, nothing in the plans right now. Cheers!
TS was one of the greatest bands ever. The passion they put into their music was unbeatable.
For sure, Cheers!
Totally agree with your ranking on this one. Was never a huge fan but the debut is definitely the best. Is this your first ranking that is completely in reverse order from the way they were released?
I'm not sure, maybe, I often prefer the album in order of release year. Since I prefer the 80's style like most metal fans I guess. ;) Cheers!
1. Under the Blade
2. Can't Stop Rock and Roll
3. Stay Hungry
4. Come Out and Play
5. Love is For Suckers
Cheers!
Twisted Sister rules! Under the Blade, You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll, and Stay Hungry are absolute classics!
cheers!
you did twisted sister, you are the man dude.
hello there /The man dude himself.
I completely agree with this listing. Under the Blade is still a badass album! I did like Come out and Play though.
Cheerios!
Here are a few interesting facts.
Dee Snider was a big fan of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors, about a gang that has to cross dangerous enemy gang territory to get to safety after being framed for the death of a rival gang leader. At one point they are hiding in an apparently abandoned apartment building, and one very stoned but dangerous rival gang member is sitting outside in a crazy looking car clicking empty beer bottles together rhythmically and taunting them, "Warriors, come out to play."
That line was the inspiration, as you might have guessed, for Come Out And Play. Dee Snider even mimics actor David Patrick Kelly's slow, menacing delivery of the line on the album, except it's, "Twisted Sister, come out and play."
The song "The Leader of the Pack" is actually a reworked cover version of the du-wop classic by early 60s girl group the Shangri Las.
But back in the 80's when Def leppard released Pyromania and Hysteria you loved them both. It was classical albums
classic movie even if it's a bit weird. haha
@@patricdahlin6174
Pyromania I liked. But it had its saccharine sweet radio friendly elements, too. A buddy of mine liked Hysteria, but I never really got into it.
Watch out for The Baseball Fury’s
Nice video;) I'd classify first 2 TS albums as Heavy/Glam Metal; 'Stay Hungry' as Glam/Pop Metal(this is where they went commercial) and the next two as Commercial Hard Rock ('Love is for Suckers' is not Metal at all) My Ranking:
1- You Can't Stop Rock'n Roll
2- Under the Blade
3- Stay Hungry
4- Club Daze (their early demos)
5- Come Out and Play
6- Love is for Suckers
Stay hungry! Cheers!
:) Cheers!
My older sister used to see them at the mad hatter in stony brook before any fame hit them pretty cool
Stay hungry! Cheers! hehe
Rank please : Saxon, Neurosis, Savatage
Motorhead too
Saxon is coming up in late August. ;)
Buena banda.
Saludos desde Monte Grande, Buenos Aires!
Stay hungry! Cheers!
Yes! I not seen yet. I could draw them all, my teacher was not so happy about it as my books was full of em 😅
yeah I think that every kid draw that TS symbol in their school books back then. hehe Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT I drew the whole band, not just the TS logo. I was a level up trve fan 🤣
Cheers!
What always makes me laugh is how Dee Snider acts like they were some sort of legends, when the truth is they really only had a couple of hit songs over a short period of time.
yeah New York Dolls and Kiss and Priest all stirred into one perhaps. Stay hungry! Cheers!
Stay Hungry was the first album I owned, and the last time I ever heard anything by Twisted Sisters
damn. :)
TS is proof that all you need are a few hits and you can have success for the rest of your life... got into them on Under the Blade, was 13 when Stay hungry came out, I was WAY too into it ha ha ha a Captain Howdy, SMF and burn in hell were my favorites on the album.
Yeah, that's why every band tried to write hit songs in the mid 80's. haha
The kids are back is a rocking tune
Cheers!
Honestly one of the only glam bands I like
Cheers!
If I'm not mistaken this is the first RM Album ranking where the worst to best goes exactly in reverse chronological order.
I get criticized about doing that all the time. ;) Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT Yeah but its never exactly from latest to first, just generally.
The ranking for Nuclear Assault goes the same if I remember correctly
I first saw a twisted sister 1980 at the mad hatter among island for some reason the wiki page does not even discuss the four song EP they released that’s the only records we had for a few years
Cheers!
1. You Can't Stop Rock & Roll, 2. Stay Hungry, 3. Under The Blade - that's all you need the rest nah!

1. You Can’t Stop R ‘n’ R
2. Come Out And Play
3. Under The Blade
4. Stay Hungry
5. Love Is For Suckers

1. Stay Hungry
2. Under the Blade
3. You Can't Stop Rock n Roll
4. Come Out and Play (Great album marred by a couple of bad songs- much like Turbo)
5. Love is for Suckers (Still a great Pop Metal album)
Cheers!
I agree with your ranking completely, the debut is their best by a country mile in my opinion, they never really followed it with anything quite as good,
Stay hungry! Cheers! hehe
Stay Hungry was my intro to them, and I thought it was great, but after listening to under the blade and you can’t stop rock n roll, I started finding stay hungry to be pretty basic
Cheers!
Hey, what about doing and rank em all of Loudness🤔 I’m guessing you probably haven’t listened to all their material tho😂
Jay Jay French has said the reason the band eventually broke up was due to the inclusion of that cover of ‘The leader of the pack’ they decided to include on “Come out and play” he says “The song worked while we performed it in local bars, but didn’t translate well when recorded for a studio release”
I guess that’s true since they faded into relative obscurity after that. I mean “Love is for suckers” is still a great album, but I’m being a little biased, since I automatically will love anything produced by Beau Hill😂
That's correct, I haven't and I probably never will even though their early stuff is cool. :D Cheers!
Yes I love Candlemass so hopefully one day. :) Cheers!
I'd have to rank them as the following:
5. Love Is For Suckers-not very good pop metal, but some okay songs here and there, Dee's voice fits melodic rock really well, but the songs are so cheesy
4. Under the Blade-a pretty good album for the most part, but there's a few songs that are just really big and dumb and boring in an AC/DC sort of way
3. Come Out and Play-a surprisingly good album in my opinion; I like the commercial, melodic tunes, and there's a few super heavy, speedy metal tracks
2. Stay Hungry-I would put this at #1 except those 2 big hits are so stupid and I don't care to hear them every again
1. You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll-their most solid album top to bottom, truly not a halfway bad tune on it anywhere
solid rank, cheers!
Hi,can you please do Armored Saint..Greetings
I thought of it, it might happen some day, not in the plans right now but maybe in the future.
I assume you aren't that familiar with armored saint. One of the best American metal bands. All albums are great except la Raza, which is hit or miss
They never were my thing, but I remember the Love Is for suckers reviews being less than enthusiastic, let's put it this way.
hehe, cheers!
Cheers!
Rank W.A.S.P. albums
I might. :)
The first three Twisted Sister albums are awesome! After that they went downhill.
Stay hungry! Cheers! hehe
I can’t believe we haven’t seen a Death Angel ranking. TS gets a rank em before DA?
Yeah, Death Angel is also a one album band so. ;) haha
Can you do the misfits or Danzig next?
Misfits I'll probably never do since it's off topic. Danzig perhaps even if I'm quite a noob on his more recent works. He lost me with that industrial sounding stuff. Cheers!
I love the X-mas album. Silver bells. 🎤🤠
Cheers!
They were a band that worked very hard for what success they did have. They were not the best songwriters or musicians but they did have a few really good songs. I am and the price are my personal favorites. I guess if I had to pick one stay hungry would be my favorite album from the studios but I like their live album the best from Hammersmith.
Cheers!
hehe. Cheers!
Love is for suckers is actually a Dee Snider solo album that the record label decide to slap the Twisted Sister name on it and got the out on the road. Big mistake by the record label..
Yeah, that often happens, they want to go solo but end up using their more known bands name.

Vio-lence is too easy... eternal nightmare, oppressing, and the other one
lol I love the Christmas album, and I put it on every Christmas season. But I'll agree, it kind of sucks
Yeah it happens here too, but maybe more because of christmas than how good the album is hehe
