I fell asleep watching this a few years ago stumbled across it again. Man what a beautiful build. Sad to see the end result. Thanks for documenting and uploading. I’m years away from the time / finances to invest into something like this but the 109 is hand down going to be my first project.

The 109 is a hard plane to get off the ground... and can be difficult to land. It takes awhile to get used to it. Unfortunately, you can still have the occasional screw up on takeoff. You have to get the tail up off the ground fast..and hit hard right rudder as soon as the tail comes up. Beautiful work though. I hope you can work through the frustration and try again.

I am terribly disappointed to learn that he crashed before he could enjoy his first flight, especially after so much work on your part! The video you made is exciting

A torque roll on take-off if i am correct is something you are describing which is when the aircraft is at or around a stall speed (take-off speed) and you suddenly apply throttle (or an engine lag ) which provides a counter torque reaction and twists the plane into a downward spiral.

About 60 years ago I was just trying to get into R/C and was talking to an experienced flyer he recommended starting with a slow flying high wing trainer , having always loved the world war 2 warbirds I said that I wanted to start with a Spitfire ,his response was real pilots had a difficult time handing them , a model would also be difficult . He was right . Today I fly a Spitfire, a P 47, and a P 38 . A company called Flitest sell some nice kits not expensive and are practically indestructible ( . Well not exactly) but fly well. Good luck.

A friend gave the plans he crafted a 109 of a Midwest kit - not a scale - but something appeared to be wrong, even an experienced r/c flyer could'nt fly it succesfully...a note on plans exhists remembering to observe mounting of the wings and ribs, in order to mantain the wash out recommended...

To start with a wwII scale low wing model isn't thr best or easy way to introduce into r/c modelling world... To fly is not so natural to human life... We need to learn to and to familiarize with radio command sticks - just as if you is on model's point of view, on cockpit...
