Been mined to death. There is some gold they didn't find. It will take more than a few years of heavy raining for mega years. Just to reload the gold deposits.
Can you camp out there question mark could you pitch a tent and stay two or three weeks on the claim? I'm headed to Quartzsite November 1st 2023. I'm from Alaska and I will be joining the courtside club. I'm sure when I get there I will be looking to meet people and quite possibly finding some groovy people to metal detect with. My name is Carlton and I drive a 2011 gray Lexus hope to see you guys soon.
There are QMDC claims on the other side of I 10 and no one monitors the time that you’re there. Many people stake their site and camp in October or November and don’t leave until February or March.
I bought a share i. A clame, Called Jackpot. . So I went Gold mining. There were other miners there that I met From Oregon , Washington, Pennsylvania, Canada, . They were retired Fishermen , farmers , teachers, even a lady nurse , hamdy to have for us older miners. I camped on my gold clame, because if you found good color and left it another miner be in your spot. This happen to me. It is good healthy exercise, and yes I did find Gold. Just not much. After all the mountains eroded down from 10000 feet after 30 million years to the flats there now.
QR codes. Very handy as they can link directly to geo reference PDFs which can be opened up in free apps like Avenza PDF maps. Basically turns your phone or tablet into a moving map display.
Met you at Hoboteck Sasnak camp fire last rtr. Will be their this year meetup after xmas! Their is a LDMA camp Dig north of wickenburg! Ask your fellow miners if they know how to get their!!!!
I was up at Chiracho Summit and the Patton Museum hiking with a large water bottle; every time I come upon a golden barrel cactus or some other plant that looks special I drop a couple of cupfulls of water on the root bed. Hope to come back next year and see how they're doing!
Driving in the mountains near Georgetown Co. I stopped the jeep to see some bighorn sheep. Gazing into a nearby stream, I saw a glint of gold in a white quartz rock. I got excited when I saw how pervasive it was in the rock and started digging. The rock was still part of the mountain (and under water) so I never got it. Make sure you carry the right tools! Good luck!!
You helped me make the decision to by a side by side to tour the desert's back roads and trails. Can't wait to get one. Any good Polaris dealers near Yuma/Quartzite?
Russ Down load Avenza Maps app on your smart phone. Then go into the Store in Avenza Maps and look for "Quartzsite Off-Road Trail Map" by Great Outdoors Consultants. Down load that map. This is one of the GPS based maps we use around Quartzsite. Shows you all the trail numbers and will pin point your location via GPS, no need for cell service.
If you get a plastic windscreen you'll be replacing it about every 6 months. We had them on our Gators and even if you cleaned them carefully they would get scratched so bad you could hardly see through them. You could frame up a safety glass one pretty easily though. Even install wipers. Did that on some of our rails.
Hey Russ what do you do if you find gold on another persons claim? Keep it and run? Just Lovin this little buggy and the places it can get you too. Hahahahaha you gotta be MINEfull. Stay safe out there Russ. Cheers!!!
🙋🏻 Good Morning Russ! Your up early! I love seeing the different shapes of the cactus, I'm not in an area that has those. I heard someone say that a cactus will explode, is that true? Enjoyed venturing out into the dessert seeing gold mining still going on. Not much has changed outside of shovels & digging, with horse power now being ATV/4wheeler vs the mule/horse days. The Ole Prospectors left a legacy for generations future to follow. Okay, $20.00 a year to join QMDC. If you, as example, go out & find some gold, what do you do? How do you stake area of find? Do you buy the land, or own the land? Looking forward to our outing tomorrow! Enjoy your day!
Russ I think that mine just before you get to middle camp is the old Guadalupe mine, intriguing story how the Frenchman that owned it died by a rattlesnake bite, but some say he was murdered by his new wife he brought down from San Francisco, anyway great video, dusty is awesome don't you think.
Everywhere that you've driven today that I've seen the road I would drive my 74 Ford van through it with no problems Palmer trailer I've been up worse beautiful country think I'll come out for a visit
I’m definitely staying tuned in to see you metal detect and to learn more about BLM land. I have a metal detector but have only used it in parks. I’ll learn from you Russ
I watched this video and the trail looks like a 4 wheel drive truck could drive it. Would one be able to drive a F350 4 wheel drive pickup to where you were to metal detect?
I 4 wheel drive in my F150 and sometimes in my new 2019 Ram 2500, both 4x4's here in southern Nevada. Those roads look pretty easy. Only problem you might encounter is the roads being narrow, and you might get some brush rash. Kinda the reason I use my older F150 most of the time.
OH you don't understand the beauty of the desert! To each his own! Don't get me wrong trees, rivers, and lakes are beautiful too but after a few weeks I get "cabin fever"! I love the wide open spaces, solitude and the beauty of the desert!
Dusty Nugget could be a hillbilly country music band. It just has that smooth roll off your tongue sound. "The harder it is to get to the better gold you find." Mining geologists have estimated that only about 20% of all the gold in the American West has been mined, there is a lot more out there.
Russ now that you named it can we see a video about her or it. Does that have a windshield ,you can drive it on the street but what if it starts pouring all of a sudden can you see the road okay? Been trying to catch a glimpse of the front of it in the other videos. Just Wondering 😊
Very nice, thank you for sharing the video. I enjoy your content hoping to go there soon ✨️ 🙏
Ya..gold..gold..🙂
Morning Russ!! Excellent video!! Hope you have a great Sunday!!

Nice. Love the landing and take offs
Yo - RVer. It’s neat that you land your drone so we see its prop shadows. Thanks.
I look for it in all your videos.
Hi Russ. Thanks for taking us along.

56 Chevy Havasu is probably the closest dealer.
..if a person seldom leaves Town, a Buggie is all you Need..💨
I like your background music that you use regularly. It does seem to compliment the videos you record pretty well. 👍

Got a little side bet going with my wife come next March we won't have seen any dry washing or metal detecting.:) :)
i'll take that bet
Dry washing is popular in Arizona I hear. Looks cool but does the air ones work as good as wet washing?
Awesome vid Russ.
Try getting yourself a full fold-down windshield. you'll love it for out in the desert.

Ah, a claim jumper eh? Nice cruise. We'll have to check it out. Thanks for posting.
You're going to start another gold rush! lol
How do I become a member of local Quartzsite diggers, and the LDMA . I've got Rusty Gold FEVER! I'll be their a few months this year.!😋
Like your name. Reminds me of the red green show.
Lovett the dusty nugget
Me and my son live out in Globe, i'd like to get over to Quartzite and camp a couple days and metal detect and try drywashin'.

I’m guessing ATVs are street legal in Arizona?
if you buy the on road license
I’m definitely staying tuned in to see you metal detect and to learn more about BLM land. I have a metal detector but have only used it in parks. I’ll learn from you Russ

I would LOVE if you made a t-shirt that said, Yay!! along with your logo.. Hehe 😋
Hi. Russ
With Dusty the old van isn't going to see many miles this winter!
" silver is in the high country and gold is where you find it"
You have to listen to these videos with headphones on, you can really hear the engine well
Hey Russ, what model is your buggy? I am looking for a side by side and would appreciate any tips you could give me. Thanks
When are you going to leave the wasteland area and proceed to some beautiful areas with rivers and trees?
OH you don't understand the beauty of the desert! To each his own! Don't get me wrong trees, rivers, and lakes are beautiful too but after a few weeks I get "cabin fever"! I love the wide open spaces, solitude and the beauty of the desert!
