Thank you for acknowledging that Christmas isn’t sunshine and lollipops for everyone. Not many people do that especially online. I really appreciate your understanding. Your thorough instructional videos are incredibly helpful. I’m doing my first advent cozyknitter sock with your No Fear Shorty pattern and your shadow wrap heel. Thank you! ❤
A light bulb just went off for the audiobooks between performance and being read to. What a game changer for me, thank you and you would make a great narrator! It is key to my buying an audiobook, always like to listen to the sample first. We are taking a more simple approach to decorating as well and we are just counting our blessings this year. Oh I love a book Advent calendar! Socks are a great idea too. The Six and Seven Fibers is wonderful and the note in each one shows the care and thought that went into each and every mini. So sorry about the scammers but glad you got it straightened out. Charles Dickens is a favorite in our house! It is great that you read to your son and that he loves it. Books were and are such an integral part of our boys lives and there is always a request for a book or two. Happy Knitting and a get well to your son.
Thanks for sharing your time with us! While listening/watching I am also (finally) finishing up my October socks--yes, October (that doesn't mean November and December will be this month though--ha). All the yarns in your advent ❤I love the Christmas cast-on choice so much--it is so winter dreamy!! I have not listened to many audio books....I tested the audio on one the other day and it was a deal breaker 🤣 I decided to buy the book instead. I loved listening to John le Carré narrate his own books--it helped me to get a better sense of how to read his books when he was new to me (the tempo of his writing) as well as just having a great voice. You have a fantastic voice to be a narrator, too! Why not give it a go? Can't hurt to try? Or is it a "dream" that you enjoy being that only? Happy weekend and I hope your little man feels better soon.
Love love audio books, listen while I knit. Libby, which supports my local library = win win !! Jim Dale … he truly is awesome!! I purchased all 7 HPotter cd books (from local bookstore), then I watch the movies whenever, sometimes after the book. I really enjoy the classics on audio (if I can find on Libby), just because & something different. Glad you & family love to read, you can travel to so many different places thru books (real or imaginary)!! Of allll the books I have read, there’s still a gazillion I haven’t. Kinda like knitting projects, right?!?! Thanks for sharing all the lovely things!
Denise thank you for the wonderful book ideas. I just downloaded the Genji audio book from our library. I will be knitting and listening this afternoon. I love this advent calendar! Thanks for sharing it vicariously with us.
Denise you are such a joy! I loved watching your video and hearing about what you've been knitting and enjoying with your family lately. I am SO glad you love the minis so far! I got teary eyed watching you get teary eyed! :) Sending you loads of love. Oh and you'd be a fabulous narrator. You already are on here! xoxo, Rachel of Six and Seven Fiber
I love this space you have created. It truly allows me a place to just breathe and enjoy the information you share. The yarn. Patterns, literature, and hearing you giggle. Love the woman of literature shout outs. Love Beatrice Potter. For Christmas my 2 little granddaughters are getting the complete works of Beatrice Potter . Such a wonderful video. Blessings.
Hello Denise, I'm listening to your podcast while driving to France. Thank you for being always so nice. I removed my comment from the first podcast because not everyone understand. I'm the mom of the six sons. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU. I wish you all a very happy Christmas. Be kind to everybody ❤😘😘
Thank you for sharing your vlogmas with us. Your voice and your thoughts have given me peace, laughter and grateful thoughts for my weekend and beyond. The literature women advent and the Dicken's one are just incredible. Alexandra Woods
Denise, watched this episode tonight. I agree about Jim Dale ‘performing’ Harry Potter! I did not read the books myself, until I had all 7 of them, and then binge read for about 2 weeks, but finally getting the audible book was pure delight. I binged them also, but think it took me longer. I love your voice, I’d be right there with your so listening to you read Dickens. Enjoyed this episode very much. I hope you and your family continue to have an enjoyable holiday/winter season.
I'm so sorry that you had to deal with scammers. That's awful, but glad to hear you got it all squared away. You would be a GREAT audio book narrator .You have the perfect voice for it. I hear you about scaling back the Christmas decorations. It's just the 2 of us here and every year I seem to take less and less out. Yes indeed, it's so much more fun taking all of it out than putting it all away. Then the house looks so bare for a few days.
Those advents, especially the Women in Literature, are perfect! And I used to read to my kids, long after they could read for themselves, which was just a special moment for us all. Enjoy your time with your boy, such precious memories!
The Madison Ave. view and barrage of fantasy and 'how it should be' at Christmas often makes us feel so raw this time of year. We see the ads of the wife giving her husband a Lexus and we feel inadequate and it's easy to feel like a failure. That's why I love to knit for charity *mine is the Seamen's Church Institute, I give, and people are grateful. Gratitude is a great thing, when things are rough and life is painful, give. Give something, even a smile. It's the only way we'll all get through this really painful time on the Earth. God Bless You
I’m also chiming in with my encouragement for you to consider book narration. I always find your podcasts so soothing to listen to. And I think that book lovers themed advent is the best I’ve ever seen.
I love the idea of making our own advent calendar, so sorry to hear about the scammers. It’s such a pity these people don’t put their skills to something positive and kind. Happy Christmas to you and your family xxx
Hi Dennis, great to see you again, you have just inspired me to doDannys socks on Christmas Eve, as I just favorited them on Ravelry, but did not know her story! So I do love that pattern, and I too am knitting the Cozy Knitters advent socks, and I am loving it! So much fun,I love doing the stripe a day.i am slowly decorating and it feels manageable, take care,Melissa.
I love the making your own advent idea. That would be great for two friends to do- for knitters save leftovers and wind them into balls and exchange as an advent or a group of friends each buy little chocolate, share bags of tea, etc 💕💕💕 I love the New Years cast on, this year I work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and December 26, so New Years I will be off and Asleep way before midnight lol but will cast on for sure😍
Lovely to hear you talk about your Advent and your love of literature. Accents are interesting and important to a story. The English accent is seems to hold a charm for many Americans. Many years ago I was visiting Missouri to see relatives and we drove to a rural area. Whilst buying coffee I was asked to repeat my order so that they could hear the English accent. 🇬🇧 erst
That beautiful contagious smile❤️ so glad I got to meet you in person at Wool and folk and again at Rhinebeck the next day😊 your genuineness, positivity, love for others is so calming and appreciated. Love you Denise❤️❤️
I am so glad I found your tutorials and podcast. I love your way of teaching, your voice is soothing (and will be amazing for any narration you pursue), your love of literature and kindness of spirit. Merry Christmas to you and your family. ❤
I appreciate your comment about the snowflakes being for winter season! I don't celebrate Christmas, but I do enjoying decorating for winter. So I have snow people and snowflakes and gnomes. Things like that. Thanks for acknowledging that December doesn't mean Christmas for everyone. Also, I love the Advent you are doing with the women in literature. Maybe when its all done you can post a list of all the books and characters that they chose for that? It would be fun to see them all!
Thank you for the feedback Anne. It's very important to me that everyone who "visits" feels at home and included. And I love the idea of listing all the books and characters. Stay tuned for that!!
I'm knitting the Novice Cardigan by Petite Knits, I'm a combination knitter, meaning not only am I left handed, but I knit thru the back loop for knit stitches, so when the instructions told me to M1R the result was a bit holey. So, I thought an increase around the neck doesn't need to face anywhere but down, and I decided to try the Shadow Wrap Increases that you taught and it looks beautiful! They're not obvious, which is what you want, right? Thanks for the patient soothing lessons. I hope to be trying that same skill on some socks soon. This sweater has a raglan sleeve so I know I'll need increases that show up in an attractive way, if you have any tips for me as a combination knitter, I would appreciate them. I love the advents, I've never done them, my family didn't do them, but I love the whole idea of a new gift or surprise to start the day for a month. What an awesome idea, especially if it includes new yarn!
Such a Wonderful visit. Thank you so much, Denise ! Congratulations to Christina , indeed. Loving your literature Advent Calendar. What a treasure trove of yarn and verse. All the best sweet gal. marcia
My Mom was/is the best book reader! I loved hearing you talking about reading to your kids… Many of my best childhood memories are of her reading to me. The WORST punishment my parents could give me was skipping my bedtime story. As I learned to knit, she’d read to me as I crafted well into my teens. There was one book series that required many British accents, along with Russian, Egyptian, American Deep South characters and she did ALL the voices 😂
How disappointing on the part of the scammers to take something sweet you wanted to do and try and make it their advantage. However, I’m glad you were able to get it worked out with relative ease (I imagine it didn’t feel that way). I agree, you would be a phenomenal narrator! 😊 My wall calendar still says August. 😆
Another wonderful podcast Denise. In early October I was at BN and thought about picking up A Christmas Carol book and forgot. My two year old grandson loves when I read and perform for him. Last year I purchased the Julian Lennon book "Touch the Earth" a wonderful children's book series. Thank you for reminding me to pick up the Charles Dickens book.
Lovely podcast, hope your son is feeling well. I am working on my socks while listening to you. Thinking of looking through my stash, which is not large, and pick a Christmas eve cast on.
Sorry to hear about the scammer incident. It is a plague on RUclips. I wondered, did you make all the socks in you son’s advent? I love your voice too 😊 no need to show us the angry you, I’ll just believe 😂 Thank you for this episode Denise, I really enjoy knitting with you. ❤
Wonderful encouraging episode Denise. When my daughter was little we got the Beatrix Potter book set. I read them to her with my take on an English accent (being from KY who knows lol). It was so fun. We got our grandson for Christmas the complete book of Beatrix Potter stories, he’s just over 1yr old. Timeless stories and good memories to be had. Hope you and your family are having a wonderful holiday season 💛
Denise this was one of the best inspiring vlogmas by far. So sorry for your scam situation but you handled it so gracefully. Thanks for sharing your literary advent. This is my first time experiencing the advent calendar. I guess it’s never too late at 69 years old. 😁 Have a blessed Holiday with your family.
Denise, Thank you for everything , I'm printing the labels , yay. I've told you before how soothing your voice is, I would love to hear you reading to me. I think we all would! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
I really enjoy your channel. I’m new but found you and I look forward to your broadcasts. I would hope that any one enjoying the Advent calendar vlogs would understand that the Advent is a time of waiting for the birth of Christ. It isn’t just a count down to opening presents or a big dinner.
Welcome, I'm so glad you're here and thank you so much for your comment. I do think many people realize what Advent is but many may choose not to share their celebrations or prepping on this public forum, out of respect for those that do not share the same faith or to maintain their private family traditions, customs, etc....Not to everything needs to be shared. And no one is required to prove their faith.
How sweet would the By The Fire socks look if the cuff was white with cherry red bobbles and the rest of the sock was a warm chocolate brown! Just like a pudding 😍
I’m so sorry that scammer caused you so much stress! I’m glad it all turned out okay. I’m working on my cozy knitter 24 stripe skeins and I just really love seeing what color emerges next! I’m working toe up and haven’t decided if my cuff will be the contrast mini yet. My idea is to keep going with the leg until I use the whole skein but I’m realizing that will make a REALLY tall sock so we’ll see. I’ll be sure to tag you on Instagram when I post the finished sock.
What I don’t like in audio books is;the sleazy mystery audio books, they all sound the same, unfortunately we had a lot of them in our library for awhile.
Thank you so much for the insight into performance vs being read to. I love a good performance too but depending on subject I prefer a good simple narration.
So0 sorry you had to go through all the stress of a spammer. /crystal of Bag-o-Day Crochet has had that happen in the past and she does tons of giveaways. She makes an announcement each time that she does not announce a winner in the comments but rather in a separate video. Have a wonderful Christmas and sending warmth from Trinidad xo
hi i really like the yarn it would be nice to be able to win so i can make things for my friends and family most importantly my grandma she is in the hospital with stage 4 cancer and wants me to make her something , she was the one who helped me learn how to crochet, knit, sowing and more so i really hope to make her something with the yarn
agossie I find it more annoying for you than for us all those scammers. we get it so often as a comment under our comment, especially with give aways they do that. So we are already prepared for it. especially since there is usually a special video with the winners. but you have all the extra work with deleting and reporting and blocking etc. Congrats Christina. S.
It was a scam. Creative Grandma is having a terrible time with this. Saying that you won something and they were using her logo and everything. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. They are trying to get your info and money.
Your voice is so comforting, you’d be an amazing audiobook narrator if you chose to do it.
Thank you so much Kat!!! I love that vote of confidence.

Denise you would be an amazing book narrator!
Thank you so much Patricia!!
What a lovely vlogmas. I too love reading. Who did the literature advent calendar? What a lovely idea.
Thank you Robin. The literature advent calendar is done by Six and Seven Fiber.

Lovely minis. Iove your advent calendar! Those scammers are the scourge of You Tube! You are on it. I love that sock label!
Having been raised Catholic, I grew up with an Advent calendar. This year I got my doggie a calendar. She loves it!!
Loved this Denise,,,,,So Nice and inspiring,,,,this early morning,,,

BEAUTIFUL! Sorry for yelling 🥰 love your advent!!
It's ok to yell...lol I love enthusiasm.
How sweet would the By The Fire socks look if the cuff was white with cherry red bobbles and the rest of the sock was a warm chocolate brown! Just like a pudding 😍
Hi Dominique,
You read my mind. I've already finished one "pudding" sock and have cast on the other. They may be the cutest socks I've ever made. 😁
Why next life? You can try your hand at book reading this life because you are blessed with a beautiful voice
You have such a lovely voice - you could totally do narration - in this lifetime!❤
Thank you so much Lorien!!! Maybe one day...fingers crossed!
I’m so sorry that scammer caused you so much stress! I’m glad it all turned out okay. I’m working on my cozy knitter 24 stripe skeins and I just really love seeing what color emerges next! I’m working toe up and haven’t decided if my cuff will be the contrast mini yet. Did you purchase the HP on audible?
Yes I did!!!
I agree, the narrator can make or break a book. I think you would be wonderful at narrating a book! Can you do a Scottish accent? 😜 🏴 x
Thanks so much Margaret!!! I hope one day. I’m not bad but still working on it!! 😆
I really enjoyed knitting away while listening to your podcast today.
Thanks so much for joining me!!!
Hey lady. It's Ken. Question. Will an entire mini cover the 6 sections of a pair of socks? 2 cuffs, 2 heels, and 2 toes.
Love that greeting and the answer to your question is yes.
@@EarthtonesgirlPodcast wow. Your the only one who said yes. All the others said no.
@@kendenta2207 one mini has always worked for me as long as it’s 20 g, but if you don’t want to take a chance then go with the majority of No.
thank you Denise. Just loved this

You're so welcome Jeanine!!

Congratulations 🎉, Christina S.

So we are already prepared for it. especially since there is usually a special video with the winners. but you have all the extra work with deleting and reporting and blocking etc. Congrats Christina. Scammers got my husband one time we lost a lot of money but got past it all is good!
It was a scam. Creative Grandma is having a terrible time with this. Saying that you won something and they were using her logo and everything. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. They are trying to get your info and money.
Scammers are everywhere. I see them all the time.
