I’m a Vikings fan and I don’t think they settled. There was no way Kwesi was gonna give up more picks to move up to pick 3.
The Vikings settled!!!!!?!?!
Who cares if they settled or not, JJ is either going to be good or hes not. Nobody truly know which one of these QBs are great. Mitch turbisky, Marcus mariota Jameis winston, Carson Wentz, Kenny Pickett, Blake Bortles, Justin fields, Mac jones, Trey Lance all failed or didnt live up to their draft spot,. my point is nobody knows if Vikings Falcons Broncos or Pats made good or bad decisions yet
Settling is one of the biggest BS lines regarding the draft. Once the first pick is made every other team is settling for what's left. The draft is all about settling. There's nothing wrong with settling. You pick the best player you can with the pick you have.
I'm a big Vikings fan.... I think they were trying to trade with the Patriots because they were worried they were going to take Mcarthy.... then as they watched the board fall they realized we dont have to grab him right away... its a big ass Chess game... I love the pick and he was he MY GUY i wanted as a Vikings fan haha so im pumped either way!
@@eejm15 JJ throws 🎯 he need to put some touch on some of his passes. If I’m the coaching staff I’m spamming Kirk cousins film all day with JJ
Great take. You never know. It’s a gamble. Even Trevor Lawrence is looking like a bust. And I’m betting fingernails boy fails too.
@@123123roo How easy is it to learn touch? I hope it isn't too hard for JJ.
Almost nobody had McCarthy at #6 QB. He was anywhere from 2nd to 4th. Zero Question that the Vikings preferred McCarthy to Penix.
If that was the case, then why trade up one spot in a panic move? While what Atlanta did may have been stupid, it was a smokescreen and everybody fell for it.
Raiders/broncos were trying to trade up
@@anthonyholder7629 I'm pretty sure the Broncos preferred Nix. The Raiders were possibly trying to trade up. We will never know. All we gave up was a 4th round pick and a swap of our 5 for their 6th. At this point why take any chances.
@anthonyholder7629 broncos has small talks but the big teams were the raiders and the saints ironically
Of the vikings true realistic options because Washington wasn’t trading out of 2 they had Maye #1 and JJ #2 at QB
Obviously we didn’t want Drake Maye that bad if we weren’t willing to give up more than 3 first round picks. Stop making nothing into something.
It was obvious that it was a stupid price to pay. No draft pick outside of the #1 guy is worth that, not the 3rd best QB. Maybe the Vikings learned something from the dumb mistake SF made.
Exactly.
Aren't you sick of the post draft bull sh-t psychoanalysis.
Great qb in an excellent spot @ 10.
Winner and absolutely nfl ready with all... ALL the tools and no fundamental weaknesses like the others. Maye a Tebow-like release that will never change and happy feet. Penix a wrecked body and immobility plus age and no touch on anything but deep balls.
JJ the best guy in the best place case closed.
Belichick loves JJ. When Vikings win Super Bowl with him, Patriots media can deal with that.
NE never wanted to come off 3 anyways.
As a Vikings fan, I’m happy NE rejected them. I’m not in support of giving up 3 first round picks for an unproven rookie. Nothing a kid did in college will matter in the pros.
They didn't have to give up a lot for him because after the giants they knew they could wait
Not sure it's a surprise that a ND and PSU guy are hating on McCarthy lol
Commanders wanted Daniel’s or JJ. Giants and Patriots wanted Maye. Vikings wanted JJ or Penix. That has already been talked about yesterday. Why are these two still just assuming? 🤡s
We “offered” what we knew Pats would decline. We “Offered” Kirko $$ too. Everything worked out perfectly for the Vikings!!
They were going to trade with the Patriots just to get McCarthy even faster 😂
Minnesota settled is 100 percent true and while i like JJ the man, he's missing some tools. Strong arm though but scouts call it a one-speed, lack layer touch/delivery. I think he's the worst of the 6 drafted round one, even though he beat Penix in the championship
They didn’t settle. They just suck at drafting.
Dumbest comment.. they're historically good at drafting. The vast majority of their team is consisted of their draft picks. Never been a great qb drafting team though
@@sstier48huh? You know the GM has only been there for 3 seasons right? He drafted Addison and Signed Pace as a udfa. Every other pick hasn't been good
@@brandonwilson4740 ya, this regime's drafting hasn't been the the greatest
@@sstier48lmfao if you say so. Read the next two comments Mike Mayock
Minnesota probably had Drake as their #1 option. Their #2 option I think was McCarthy so is that settling? The Vikings were at pic. #11 with a couple of options and were able to acquire one of them. This is just my opinion I think if Drake or J.J. weren't available and the Vikings had to pick someone else like Nix then that would be settling.
Plenty of QBs aren’t a teams first choice. It is what it is
Jj has been considered the 4th guy the whole draft process
WTF where and when Penix was the 4th then Bo JJ was all media talk
Ridiculous headline. Every team that doesn't have the #1 overall pick settles for leftovers. There is nothing wrong with settling. McCarthy will be great.
Don't be stupid, every team not picking #1 overall is facing reality and make the best decision available... I mean it's as stupid as saying teams not getting the #1 CB or DE "settled" on the player they took.. Not worth a sub here..
If it was anyone else, it would be oh awesome now that its vikings oh they settled lol
Mac Jones 3.0😅
Not happening.JJ is a national champion.
@@StormShadow936 so is Mac Jones lol
@@michaelsledge3904 lol
Christian ponder 2.0 Vikings got set back 5 years
McCarthy is easily better than Maye. That will be proven this season and both of them will start.
@@TristanandIsolt easily wtf
@@inglewoodpyro1233 You heard me. Maye is a little bigger. Everything else favors McCarthy other than college passing volume.
Lmao we got set back 5 years? We still have all of our first round draft picks. 😂
@@saraxiong Hi Sara. Do you remember our arguments about giving up 3 or more first round picks to trade up for a QB or sticking and picking?
FYI....
crawl out of your silo. take in the big view. utilizing draft capital IS NOT SETTLING. i'm sure the Vikings had the QB's rated like most others and knew there was NO CHANCE to get number one, a slim chance to get number two, a feasible chance to get number 3 and a greater chance to get number four (on their board) AT AN ACCEPTABLE VALUE!!!!!
Did Miami "settle" for Marino in 1983? Did Buffalo "settle" that same year for Kelly? c'mon
let me make a comp you probably never considered. a college quarterback who won a national championship on a traditional run first offense with a dominant defense. he threw for about only 2000 yds. had 10 TD passes and 9 interceptions.....but led the team to an NCAA title.
he was drafted and sat his first year, learning a new complicated offense
when called upon to assume the starting quarterback position? he excelled
4 Super Bowls. considered the "GOAT" for years.
JOE MONTANA.
same skill set as JJ. a good runner. can extend plays with his legs, looking to pass. accurate. reads defenses well. throws sidelines and down the middle equally well. and a consummate leader......
crawl out your silos. big picture. if this is "settling", then EVERY TEAM FROM PICK 2-32 "SETTLES" because they didn't get the number choice
