  • Finally got back out and did a legit hike! Started from the Manhattan side of the George Washington Bridge to the Rockefeller Overlook. Returned using the same trail. All-in-all a little under 10 easy miles. Virtually no elevation gain.

Thank you! It's a little known trail, but it heads up to Albany, 360 miles long..;)

I hike Long Path in Harriman SP or Catskills, not intentionally but incidentally. This is the only, for me, NY Long Path hiking video, showing the very beginning of 358 miles trail from Manhattan. Thanks!

really dislike the GW bridge, substandard pedestrian walkway, it's way too narrow, too many aggressive east coast bicyclists on it. but this being new york city, it's standard, the port authority doesn't give a s888 about pedestrians. really wanted to walk the long path to the giant stairs, but the few timesi make it over the gw bridge, i walk a little bit on the palisades, and give up, the hiking trail along the highway just is a bummer. i've also walked south toward hoboken along river road to see what the conditions are for pedestrians and bicyclists, and it was really sad, narrow almost non existent sidewalks.

Totally agree with you there, especially they entrance ramp. It looks like they were starting to build a new ramp but I haven't seen any progress on it in ages..:(
