Modeling an Authentic Diorama Tree | Version 2.0 | Boomer Diorama ~ # 226

- This is a short tutorial and analysis of the museum model tree. DIoramas are usually subject to greater scrutiny, therefore more attention is required when it comes to modeling authenticity. If not, the tree can be a distraction rather than an enhancement to the scene.

I can't wait for the longer video on the trees.
I know you make cedars and others, and I am doing a deep dive into Pine trees, and what they look like, how their bases look, and heights, widths, branch structure. My wife looks at me a little funny at times. lol
That is awesome!
This tree you're showing is a European birch, a white birch. Very common in my country, you can find them anywhere. These trees have white bark with dark, almost black, spots. The smaller branches are brown to the end with lighter dots, which you won't see on a model. The model you're showing is very realistic this is what those trees look like. Very minimalistic. Very beautiful. Nice Boomer like always, this a kind of a never-ending story. Thanx
Thank you. That tree impressed me so much as it prompted my inspiration for trees on River Road. Cheers ~ Boomer.
I love your trees and your tree tutorials. You have single-handedly inspired me to step up my game and model top level trees for my dioramas and vignettes. There are so many beautiful layouts and dioramas out there that are spoiled by poor trees. What I call front yard evergreens.
I think trees are like any other model. If we approach them with the same passion as our favorite subject, as a support for the subject, we will surprise ourselves. Trees can humble any modeler, and also notch up the confidence very high as well. I am still passionate about them because I feel I have lots' to learn about modeling authentic specimens' as well. Cheers ~ Boomer.
I grew two birch trees from seed in my front garden, specifically to harvest the scales from the seed catkins for miniature leaves. I currently have more leaves than you can poke a stick at lol
Awesome idea . . . lol. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing. More to learn. But half the size. LOL Thanks again. Someday I would love to meet you.
Maybe one day!
Just when I thought I was done with trees... 🎄🌲🎄 Here we go again 🙂
I try to keep my inventory up for steps ahead . . . ;-)😁
Your tree artistry is the 'Go-To' for me! Its worth the time to take them way beyond the clump foliage cartoon-like versions out there. And therapeutic too! Thanks again and cant wait for more. Deciduous trees are stumping me right now. Pun intended! 😊
They stump everyone including me. Just press in a little here-and-there and they start to come. I have my rejects as well. I don't think trees can be mastered but only improved upon through sheer determination and practice. ;-)
Greetings From Colorful Colorado WJ,
WOW Buddy, you are right about your Mystery Tree Photo, it's beautiful. Yes Boomer, you described it well and showed me yet another way of looking at trees. You described how the light shines through the branches and leaves and that opened my eyes to a new way of looking at a tree. Thank You Sir!
Your Faithful Student,
John
The biggest challenge for me, and probably most, is to use less foliage or flocking. We all over do it at times. Trees are the ultimate challenge because through practice we all get better at them.
Can’t wait for the Spring tutorial Boomber!
Yes. Lot's of content lined up for this year including the Tug Boat as well. ;-)
@@boomerdiorama Fantastic!
Excellent work Boomer! You bring so many things together in your work! The final box diorama video was one of my first of yours to watch and I remember well completely missing the bear at first because of studying the trees and other details!
Awesome! Thank you!
All of your videos are awesome, but there is something extra special about your tree videos!
Wow, thanks!
I want to say how much of an inspiration your videos are. I love how you talk about artistry over process and the importance of narrative in this hobby. I learn process from you, but what I always take away from your videos is a new way of thinking about what I’m doing.
Wow, thank you!
The best reason ever for me to be happy when spring gets here!
I have always been surrounded by big trees growing up. No wonder why I model them with passion. ;-) Cheers.
Hi Boomer, from a quick research it appears that the picture of the tree comes from Martin Welberg's blog :)
Interesting!
@@boomerdiorama Yeah, I was ready to post the same thing, recognizing his style. An amazing Dutch modeler! Now, he produces fantastic grass mats and other scenery products.
Yes it is.
Dear Boomer, great video! The inspirational source of the birch tree you’ve shown reminds me of trainfanattic’s video, in which he explains how to make such a beautiful birch tree. Don’t know trainfanattic’s name, can only see the gentleman in question resides in the Netherlands. Don’t know if it’s the exact same tree or source. Humbly think that doesn’t really matter, especially where trainfanattic to me is yet another great inspirational source for modeling. Cheerio
I think the person was from the Netherlands now that I think about it.
I truly appreciate your passion that you express for the hobby and for your creations! Tally Ho!
Thank you so much!
Treemendus technique. Love it so much. Cheers JV
I feel sorry for Pacific West Coast modelers . . . lol. ;-)
That is a very nice tree.
Model Trees. Thank you. ;-)
You are truly talented. Your decor are incredible. You have a precious gift.
You are so kind! Thank you. Cheers!
My favourite subject when it comes to dioramas~. Trees are the make or break to me tbh.
I scratch built the Moose. All the more reason to address your reasoning. ruclips.net/video/P1krYOztEkQ/видео.html
@@boomerdiorama Amazing! I didn't see that video yet, thank you!
Great tutorial.
😁Thank you!
That is indeed a very lovely birch tree! My layout is in spring time, so I try to keep all my deciduous trees and larch open and see through.
That's a great idea!
Boomer, great short on trees. That is my next big part of my project.
I am really looking forward to some tree tutorils, I have watched vlog #61 a couple of times now.
Treat tip on the less is more.
Cheers, and thank you for continuing to share, stay safe, Michael
Building model trees can provide great benefits to a diorama style layout or scene. There are only about thirty trees on River Road but it looks like 300. ;-)
@@boomerdiorama I would have said 120 to 150, you have blown me away at 30. I will have to watch more closely when you pan over the Road.
Hi Boomer you do very nice work & it look so simple. By the way me dog Lucky like Cat to play he is 11 year old. The first epasole one that i like the utility poles that you make
Thank you!
Boomer, The photo of the model tree is very Ikebana in it's simplicity. Like Ikebana, if the tree was placed with a few other tree's it would make a statement without drawing attention to itself. Don't ask me how that works, but you'll know what I mean. Cheers, Chris Perry.
That is the idea. ;-)
Karya yang sangat bagus, sahabatku❤
Cheers!
Looks cool 🌳
Thank you!
Thank You!
I do love the birch tree, old bark a great fire tinder, I think the model is Primo models, He does some great hand made trees
I think so too!
No, it's not a Primo model. I made it in 2014.
Great work

in the famous words of bob ross, happy little tree.
Yes! I love old Bob Ross . . . and those "furry little animals" living in the foliage . . . lol.
😂😂
Dilapidated tree house in that maple would be interesting. Just a thought. Cheers!
Great idea. How about if it drapes over a dilapidated building?
Fair enough. Whatever you’re building I’m watching. @@boomerdiorama
I have 2 doadar trees in my front yard. Talk about timing😂😂
Awesome!
👍👍👍👌
Cheers!
Boomer strikes again...I know those trees will be great.
They sure challenge me in many ways for sure. ;-)
First. Lol
😁👍
