Very nice video however the on load off load battery test is wrong. After switching to batteries write down the voltage. This is the off load voltage. Now try to give some load to the batteries. For example by pressing the PTT radio telephony button and broadcasting on non distress frequency. Now while pressing the PTT button write down the on load voltage and compare it to the off load voltage. If the difference is less than 10% the battery is ok.

Mam is it true that every 5 years the gmdss reserve battery to be subject for change, I don't think so, as I know if the battery's plates already broken even in a tiny pieces(inside the battery) I'm 110% surely to be replace with the new one. The hydrometer has three colors (green:full charge, yellow:trickle charge, red: drain/uncharge) and because of 6 freedom of movement can cause the nuts and bolts it's defend of the design of battery a little bit loss due to vibration so I think it definitely be an ideal to tighten a little bit maybe a 2~3mm by adjustable 🔧 wrench in every 8months~12months, or apply some few grease on battery stud(aluminum metal the one connecting series with wires) so that to avoid some white corrosion or dirt due to some acid sorrounding the air inside to battery room even though there is a natural ventilation, Kindly consults with your good guy electrician. You actually forgot to "Press the PTT on the MF/HF transceiver" during battery test. ON LOAD: 1. Turn off the A/C power 2.Record the battery Voltage 3.Press PTT on the MF/HF transceiver @ frequency without distress and idle. 4. If the the voltage drop by more than 10%, It indicates that the battery is weak or not fully charge.
