I can’t help thinking how utterly horrible it would have been to be stuck in an unhappy marriage back then, let alone a violent one. Everything was so much more intimate, slower, and quieter. You really needed your partner to be your friend.
This was epic! I loved how you both were not only teaching about this time period but also acted like you were really there. Honestly the best thing I have seen in forever! Everything you both did was historical in line with what could have happened in 1775 and the only monderized thing was the cameras. I really felt like I was drawn back in to the 1700's America.
I love the realistic role play here. It is pretty convincing and is an awesome window into how people lived back in those days. A wonderful performance and great pieces of historical information I didn't know about. Well done.
Love this so very much. I'm a visually impaired lover of living history stuff like this. Its so natural and makes me think this might be what a middle class couple in 1775 might act like. Like their liquid rouge, soaps, combs, toothbrushes, salves, pot scrubbers, $3 cotton woven hand towels. My understanding is that the average height for an American male then was 5 foot 7 as opposed to 5 foot 9 today, but we know that there definitely were tall people then too. I mean among our Founding Fathers, George Washington was 6 foot 2, John Marshall 6 foot 1, Thomas Jefferson 6 foot 2 1/2.
I can’t help but smile when he put more blush on you. Too cute.
You two were the best!! Loved seeing you get dressed and helping each other! The cosmetics were especially interesting. I did not know that they were available at that time period.
I love the fact that you don't pretend, you really brushed your teeth and then you really spit "elegantly" in the same place you shaved and cleaned your arm. by the way, I didn't know women in that era shaved. i just discovered you and already i adore you. greetings from the old world
Gotta admit these two are the cutest couple and I’m glad I found them today
You both are so cute. Bravo to Ron for braving no-pants for the reenactment. He is such a gentleman too. Lovely couple. Adorable how you both share the passion of reenacting.
i would say the exact same thing!! me and my boyfriend aspire to be like julie and john!!
OMG! "As tight as they'll go, please. We have people to impress." I love that. Justine lacing up the stays is soooo much more visually pleasing than me wiggle jumping into my Spanx! A roomy pocket for your dress is still every woman's dream. Don't we all get excited when trying on a dress only to discover it has pockets!?
Probably one reason I just don’t wear dresses and haven’t worn one since childhood lol. I feel so..naked and bizarre without pockets. It feels weird to me.
I know right. I love pockets. I feel violated without them. Lol!
wow I was in this the whole way through. this was so cool. I loved that there was no music, it felt more realistic. Makes me so grateful for access to water and heaters and makeup these days. I do appreciate your videos even though this was my first video of yours to watch. amazing job. felt like I was there
I can’t help thinking how utterly horrible it would have been to be stuck in an unhappy marriage back then, let alone a violent one. Everything was so much more intimate, slower, and quieter. You really needed your partner to be your friend.
The camera placement and weaving in and out of roleplay is subtle and very impressive.
Honestly, his outfit is on point! I love all the little details - it all seems so very real.
Man oh Man, that was a lot of work getting dressed back in the day. You both look stunning though! Blessings!
Well done.
The things women had to go through, no wonder it took us so long to get dressed.love, respect, and positivity always. Vee j.
Love this so very much. I'm a visually impaired lover of living history stuff like this. Its so natural and makes me think this might be what a middle class couple in 1775 might act like. I think its important to try to keep those sorts of things alive. If I were able I'd love to live this way myself.
The whole oh Justine's outfit is beautiful but those yellow shoes with the blue stockings are gorgeous.
The kiss after playing with the fan! Adorable! What a sweet video.
I liked how he watched her get ready and helped out, like adding more blush😊
Would love to see another makeup video Justine, or a link to the ingredients/ receipts( recipes). To be able to implement a more natural beauty/skincare routine in today’s world is fascinating. Thank you for what you two do, I look forward to every video! 🥰
Yes I agree! Did not find all the products you used at Samson historical. Where do you get them. I like looking as natural as possible. Thank you for the video
You are both adorable.
Your channel calms me down and reminds me that the earth is still a place worth living in.
I like how the boyfriend just rolls with it. If I wanted my guy to dress up in old fashioned clothes and film videos with me he’d never do it. We love a supportive partner.
Probably a husband in this time period... 🙃
Its not like they would have anything to do..there was no entertainment..no stores no movies no bars no casinos no nothing..they could take a walk in the forest at best
My husband would have never done it the first 5 years of our marriage. Now since he’s older and more mature he would be more inclined to humor me on the subject lol .
@Lorey Lane
@@ci8158 stores, bars, and casinos all would've existed at this time. Not that they necessarily would have been *as* accessible as they are now for many people, but they were definitely around.
ron was do nice giving out compliments.. any woman of any century would love to hear them
I love the open honesty, very humbling. You guys are awesome.
My goodness your both beautiful in all the old era cloths, I love how beautiful the clothing was and compared to today their extremely talented sewing had people looking dapper. Thank you so much for the journey back in time it was grand.
Wow that was extremely generous of them to send you all of those beautiful clothes! I checked out their catalog and they really have high quality items.
Wow! Christmas in March. What beautiful things you received.
Hi how are you doing?
That outfit is absolutely GORGEOUS! I would even wear this!!!!
My usual go to has been Townsends & Sons however for basic necessities Sampson Historical has really great prices. Cookie presses and sugar savers for $4-$5. Their stoneware and wooden utensils and dishes are very affordable, their wooden bowls are around $20, spoons $4. Small cast iron pot for $20. Love the red ware plates, small ones were $12. And I love that they sell products that you just really can’t find anymore, in traditional packaging. Like their liquid rouge, soaps, combs, toothbrushes, salves, pot scrubbers, $3 cotton woven hand towels. And I LOVE the teas and spices, again, all traditionally packaged for the most part and highly affordable. They don’t upcharge for the novelty of it. And that makes me think they’re truly just passionate about this stuff.
That foot warmer is fascinating!
You both looked so wonderful all gussied up for the wedding party! Ron was dashing in his blue and Justine was lovely in her new outfit! The two of you were so striking when standing together! I didn't expect to like the mustard shoes but Justine wears it well and I ended up approving wholeheartedly. I enjoyed this video immensely, thank you both so much for your hard work!
@Witty Witty stop criticising him..he hasn’t done anything wrong….And he had his beautiful wife next to him all night. So not having pants on isn’t really surprising….
Ron: "I'm really tired. I dont think people will notice if I don't wear pants. This table is pretty high..."
Everyone else: 😳 "I'm scared he's going to have to pickup something. "
I was worried the whole time 😂
I'm worried about people getting demonetized. lol.
Not me , I was hoping he would !😉
🤣🤣🤣
I had such anxiety over this, lol!
What a beautiful outfit they sent to you! Love it!
What a cute couple. Love watching these simple moments- timeless.
Save paper for sending gifts and cardboard boxes for shipping! Firewood sounds good too! 👍🏻Love that purple dress!
Hi how are you doing?
That knife! Lol! Thank you for dressing up and showing getting ready. I thought I have to do a lot, but it took a lot more steps back then. We don’t have to carry or heat water, either. You guys looked so nice! I enjoy the videos so much.
You two are so adorable together, I was pleasantly surprised to see the gifts for you were from Lebanon Indiana. I live in Southern Indiana. I found you because I watch the Townsends from here in Indiana. It is wonderful to see all of you preserve the ways of our ancestors ❤️... God bless you both, great job on your bedroom. You both looked awesome in this video. Love from Indiana.
thankyou so much! :)
I really enjoyed this episode watch a welcome change from seeing only cooking and seeing more of Ron takes you back I love seeing them together.
How they respect each other.. we miss it nows a days.
This was so lovely and interesting, I've seen you get dressed for your work day Justine but seeing you both put on your fancy clothes is a treat. These clothes are beautiful, I loved the makeup and your curly hair is a perfect match for the clothing style. Ron looks a very handsome and striking figure in his wonderful clothes. Love the chatelaine and even the gun and holder is a beautiful accessory. Thank you so much guys x
The skincare routine is interesting. Everyone wore the same shade of white face paint. Also love the accessories for the dress. Yall looked very good.
Justine your dress looked beautiful on you and Ron looked very dashing!
Hi how are you doing?
I cant wait to check them out. Thank you. I am so happy no found your channel. Helps me with my anxiety
I am so loving this! Thank you, folks.
Hi how are you doing?
I looked up Samson Historical and it actually is in the little town I live in. Lebanon, IN!!! I will have to check them out. You two look so beautiful and handsome. Love your channels...
Wow!!!! How awesome!!!
So cool that you can go to Samson Historical!
Ron was so excited he couldnt even put some pants on..
That was really generous of them and i can't wait to shop online!!! But Ron should have gotten something too!!!!.............. You guys are great!!! Make sure you write them a hand made Thank you not Justine!!!
You know you know sex and drama sell right figure that out you two are fun to watch oil the history channel
I just discovered this absolute jewel of a channel. You guys are amazing. This was such a cool and informative video!
You two are adorable!!! Its wonderful to see two people so well suited to each other...!
Geesh! Ron, put on some pants. I was nervous when she had that knife out.
What a kind and generous gift. ❤ The outfit looks stunningly beautiful on you. Keeping it real....you both bring a charming demonstration to "a-day-in-the-life". Ron, no pants is about as real as life gets. Then...and now. Don't fret over prudish comments. Another awesome presentation. Thank you both for what you do!💕
From England ,love this channel Ron made me gulp wihis noo. Undergarments couldn,t believe it lol 🎆
This is so interesting to learn about the fashion and customs of that timeframe. The bum roll must have been the predecessor to a bustle and that chatelaine is really unique. You two make a dashing pair. Love the bow to that era's etiquette at the end.
How does she wear so many clothes and pulls and still look so thin?
@@margarettickle9659Ikr - she looks great. I used to wear hoop skirts when I did reenactments.
Absolutely gorgeous couple. Loved the video and new dress wear . Your dress and his blue waste coat was beautiful.
Beautiful outfit Justine! You look amazing!
You two are a handsome couple. That was very nice of Sampson Historical to send you that outfit Justine. I like the colors too. Men think we ladies take to long to get dressed now, they better be glad they weren't living back then! LOL 🤣❤
I checked out Samson good stuff. My friends were considering bringing cloaks back in fashion next winter.
Please do, i love capes
Yes! I’ve also been thinking of bringing back cloaks and capes. Let’s do it
Absolutely lovely video. A new favorite out of your wardrobe for sure! You and Ron are so delightful together, its so refreshing. The amount of help he provides for you whilst getting ready is adoring. The adding the finishing touches of your makeup was adorable. You two were made for each other and these videos show it. ❤
I’m new and binging all the old videos. So relaxing and educational. I love this channel
This is amazing, I’ve never considered how normal and simple the interactions would have been throughout history. Watching this is giving me some great ideas for my book.
