The reason they wear desert camies in training is safety concerns. This doesn't happen just in recruit training this happens in units as well. Where if you are stationed stateside or at a training ground you will wear the opposite color of the season. This way in case anyone is injured or lost they can very quickly be spotted.

The other video is closer to it but everything eventually changes. Honestly though, I question if these female recruits would have made it through the training back then. I totally get why all the old seasoned dogs were shacking their heads at us fresh fish now. Simper Fi

Except that it won’t. It will be like in the Army, two different standards for male and female Marines. There is really no other way to do it. If it was one standard only a fraction of the female Marines could stay in. I promise you politicians will not allow a purge of females from the Marine Corps.

    • @THE_CDN
      @THE_CDN 3 года назад +73

@@procinctu1 And there it is: two different standards. When I was in the CAF Reserves, they had different standards for females and promoted them far faster than the rest of us. Don't get me wrong; I trained with a few fine female soldiers. But there were also more than a few that knew how to work the system to do less and get more. And those were the ones that I would have never gone into battle with. They were weak and I couldn't trust them.

We are a species with a high degree of sexual dimorphism. Doesn't mean women are worth less in any way. Its just physical differences in strength due to the way we evolved.
If we are going to integrate the military, then the rules should be flat, with no consideration for sex whatsoever. You bunk together, you have the same requirements, the same tasks, and the same expectations. When I was in the 82nd airborne I had one female soldier who I was glad to have in my team. She was strong and didn’t expect any type of special consideration when it came to the job at hand. Loved her. She was a battle buddy. On the other hand, as much as I love women and I love my daughters, most of the time in my personal experience, the women were treated with a lot of special privilege. We were all the same MOS but somehow they landed the comfy indoor A/C jobs, rarely went to the field and when we were at the motor pool, well…… yeah. All I can say is that if you are going to be a soldier regardless of your sex or ethnicity, age or any other variable. The standards cannot waiver. It tears apart the whole team.

Hence, the required standards should not be different to accommodate diversity. Standards should always go higher, of course with various different levels according to the job. But when you're talking about the same job, standards should be the same regardless of gender or whatever else.

If you have a horse, a fish, and a monkey climb a tree one would be standing upright, another dead on the ground and a certain someone sleeping on the highest branch. If you want those two on the top then you give the fish a breather and an exo and the horse a crane to carry him on the top, the monkey gets none he was evolved to climb anyway. That's an equal outcome but not an equal opportunity. Both managed to get on the top through augmentation while the monkey gets none but evolution, it's called equity by then.

Did my basics in 94 and the 15 females we had all failed. The instructor made sure the best were graduating. One female made it to the field where we were carrying her stuff and sometimes even her. Once the instructors saw we were a good team, they told us no more helping her. During runs, we were literally running circles around her. She was very strong mentally but physically not on par with us. On the other hand, in the course before us, a woman was a beast! She could carry a 200 pounds man on her shoulders just like any man there. I would have gone to combat with that woman. She is/was the exception, not the standard. Today, the instructors go out of their ways to make women pass… thats sad.

The fucked thing is that we will all be paying for this down the line - coming from somebody who knows they have no business serving on any battlefield. Any exception made during training is a failure to prepare these people for a significantly more unpleasant reality on the field. If they can't hack the training then everyone around them is being put at unreasonable risk, in a job that is already unreasonable. War has never made an exception for anyone's delusions of virtue.

I volunteered for national service in Denmark 20 years ago. I think we had something like 4 women in the platoon. Morale and perfomance both suffered. We had to pick up their slack whenever things got physical, which they tend to in the army. They had little boxes to stand on to get through the obstacle course and we would often carry their equipment and they would never carry extra equipment like the radio or a tank mine (both about 10kg). These four also had their own barracks so they didn't need to sleep or shower with the men. Whenever training required us to strip (simulating cleaning after ABC attack for example) The men had to strip down in their presence but not the other way around. The women also had a number of sexual partners in the platoon which distracted and sparked rivalries.
I think it can work, but it will never work as well
Also the American Army field rations were so much better than the cold canned sludge we had. The U.S army does a good job keeping up morale with their rations. I wish we had them :)

And if they weren't worth anything to anyone actually functioning as the tip of the spear, what in heaven's name were they doing there in the first place? I'm just a civilian but even I know that every Marine is supposed to be a rifleman, able at any time to bring accurate fire to bear upon the enemy. On Guadalcanal in 1942, when the Japanese briefly broke through U.S. lines and threatened Henderson Field - every Marine there, officer or enlisted - clerk, supply officer, whatever - was handed a rifle and expected to fight. They did, too, and well. That was then, this is now - how fare we have fallen.

@@ryucartel351 - Re: "Friend of mine served as combat medic in Afghanistan, told me he lost count of women DROPPING injured dudes trying to move them!!!! What the FUCK!"
Back in the 1980s when women first started entering the military in large numbers in non-traditional roles, the Army immediately began encountering women who could not keep up with their male peers on various soldierly tasks, such as throwing a grenade successfully or doing a fireman's carry of a wounded buddy to safety. Well, duh! What did the armed forces think was going to happen? Reality is going to keep on being reality, regardless of what the feminists and some bought-and-paid politicians and generals may think.
Instead of admitting their mistake openly and honestly, and dealing with the issue on that basis, the armed forces swept the data under the rug, lied and obfuscated about it, and pencil-whipped the results so that women scored as well as men. They also altered the tests - and eliminated some entirely - in order make boot camp/basic training more-female friendly. Instead of having throw a live grenade overhand at a more-distant target, the grenade toss was now over a low wall and could be performed underhanded. That way, the embarrassing fact that most female recruits could not throw a standard fragmentary grenade far-enough to escape its blast cone - would not be on-display in public. Instead of having to carry a wounded comrade by herself, it was allowed for teams of women to move the casualty.
Last but not least, the crowning achievement of Big Green was what they term "gender-norming," which is nothing more than a military-specific variation on the handicapping system used in golf. Women were given a separate and much less-difficult set of performance standards to meet in PT and elsewhere, which was bad-enough, but then they were awarded points equivalent to or greater than men, even though males had to meet higher and tougher standards in the first place. "Gender-norming" allows the services to lie to the public with a straight face that women are measuring up to the same standards as the men. It's all a giant falsehood and has been for decades now.
Forty years ago, when this nonsense was taking hold, the generals and admirals in command of our armed forces should have taken a stand to prevent the dilution of standards, if necessary by resigning en-mass. That would have forced a re-examination of the issue and maybe things would have been turned around. But the perfumed princes didn't do that. Instead, they turned their backs on their oaths, their respective services, the people under their command (male and female alike), and their country, the one they swore to defend. A very ugly and now-dangerous picture. Well, if we can't beat the communist Chinese in a straight-up fight, maybe they'll laugh themselves to death instead at how utterly idiotic we have become!

I am a retired Marine. I went in back in 1968 and got out in 1970. Spent my high senior trip in Vietnam. Myself personally think the Marine Corps has evolved into a lot softer than when I was in. It still has its strong points but there are many I don't see as good ideals. I think if Vietnam were to happen today a lot of guys would not be able to handle it and I know for a good fact the females would definitely would have no want to go there. Given it was in the mid 100's with the temps during the day and if lucky it got down to the 80's at night. Humidity was between 85-90 percent every day. Not once in a while for a couple of days but each and every day. The coolest I remember was during the monsoon season it was a high of 70 degrees with a low down into the 50's. It was cool enough that I shivered at night. When I went in we had to learn how to carry back a wounded brother along with all of his gear, his weapon and still be able to use our weapon if needed to be fired. Though we had suppressing fire from others but we needed to use ours if necessary. Not saying that there is not any women who could do that but they are far and few in between. Guys still need to be as tough as nails but there seems to be a lot more whining with them. Then again I am from what the young Marines call the old Corps and I find that funny since when I was in the WWII Marines were considered to be the old Corps. These are just opinions of an old crusty Marine. USMC Vietnam 69-70

Active duty here. Standards haven't been lowered, there are females that outperform males regularly. A lot of hip injuries on hikes and stuff because the gear isn't made for them. That being said, heavy weight and solid pave, passing the dudes. I've seen exceptions to that, but most females I've met have been very competent

@@obi-wankenobi6652 Fair enough, but I can say that was not the case when I was in. The standards for women were far lower than for the men when I went through boot and the same continued when I got to Germany. Lower PT standards, lower physical standards, more comp time for medical problems, not allowed to to deploy in sector when on real world deployments. All of these just meant the men of our units had to pick up the slack.

@@hvafuck8418 i never said me. Didn't have more testosterone. Also, women have lower PT requirements then men. That being said, female marines have consistently surprised me in field environments. I'm not being woke, I have seen my fair share of females that struggle, but most of them work their asses off and I've seen plenty that outperform the guys. One marine I was in a training environment with picked up the biggest dude in our platoon and, while carrying both rifles and both in full combat load, firemen carried this dude long distance at a fast pace. She was the only one in the squad to rush to help him while a the other dudes were arguing about who was gonna grab him.

As a USMC Veteran.... this just makes me sad. My stomach is literally hurting after watching this. Whats worse, the same females pushed through boot camp and given a pass based on their gender.. will continue to reap the same benefits on active duty. During my stay at P.I. , my time on mess duty seemed harder than anything in this video. Our enemies are watching and they are laughing.

I've come across Jordan peterson way of saying things and I do agree with these terms: Possibility of competence and possibility of outcome.
I belive what they are striving for is the possibilty of outcome which is just outrageous. 50/50 equality doesn't make things necesseraly better. The possibility of competence rewards you but what you are capable of and that is exactly the way it should be. So only women and men who are able to pass the test correctly should be rewarded with being marines in that case, but not make them pass just based on their gender. Horrendous.

@@altorins I feel you there. I am the first to say that I am not even capable of what they do here in that video, but I do believe it should be harder from what I have heard and seen so far. there are people made to be soldiers as others are made to be artists or plumbers. They should set the standards higher than this, not lower. Otherwise everybody could be an elite soldier and as a fact not everybody, or will be.
