You should get some of those ball and loop bungie ties for the chains. Wrap them around the chains as close to the bottom side of the bar as you can get them. Super cheap, quick way to keep the chains in place through pretty much anything.

His opinion is that when your grip starts to be the limiting factor, consider switching to a hook grip to maintain overhand balance.
