The song is just about waking up in the morning and getting ready for school. A very age-appropriate metal song for a group who was only 11 or 12 years old when they recorded it.
Doki Doki Morning was their first ever single released 14 years ago when the girls were just 12, 10 and 10 years old. The song is pretty much about sleeping through your alarm and waking up late for school, thus having a crazy morning. The other group of girls known as Metalverse is another project that Koba is toying around with. They’ve also been featured during the song “Karate” at this same show. They also have a few of their own singles. I love this version because it’s like the girls of Babymetal are watching their past selves in Metalverse.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う。I witnessed this very performance at the venue last year and dropped my jaw. I could not understand what was going on when another set of seemingly pseudo-BABYMETAL appeared in duel position against authentic BABYMETAL . I did not know who they were but came to know that they were amazing performers immediately after they started to sing and dance. What a surprising story Team BABYMETAL had produced to entertain the audience !! (After the show, fans promptly figured out who the mysterious girls were ) This song is about a school girl who overslept in the morning and got up quickly and dressed in haste asking repeatedly "what time is it now?. "Doki Doki" signifies sound of fast heartbeat. Su, Moa and Momoko are matured and no longer school girls, but they revived this song in 2021 shows at Budokan mimicking their own childhood voices and lovable moves. I loved it. But this 2023 version with 6 girls made my heartbeat 300 bpm Doki Doki And the another set of girls called Metalverse is now having their own concerts a few times since this.
@@flugelhornoldman1362 I call Doki Doki Morning the snooze button song. You just wanna keep sleeping, but your alarm keeps going off, then after the third or fourth time, you realize what time it is! Lol
You might be better off not having subtitles if they are just going to confuse you (that will be because you miss half of the subtitles and you miss half of the performance - just watch the performance and we will explain the lyrics and meaning of the song to you afterwards if you didn't work it out from the performance and the choreo). 'Doki Doki Morning' was the very first song they recorded - that was October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa both 11. The official video was made on a shoestring budget nearly a year later. They made their live stage debut as BABYMETAL in November 2010 at the first Sakura Gakuin concert (that was their parent group, BABYMETAL formed as the heavy Music club within SG) performing this song. Here they were bringing it back for a special concert (their first in nearly 2 years following lockdown and going on hiatus) and they were using it to introduce the new group who appeared on the other stage half way through - I will say a little more about them in a moment. Doki Doki is like a fast or excited heartbeat. The song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with her friends, trying to decide what lip gloss to wear, how to get her hair straight and checking what time is it now, how long does she have to finish getting ready. As I understand it the people who were at the concert were just as confused as you about the three younger girls mirroring BABYMETAL for the second half of the song, they were wondering if it was an optical illusion when the lights went out on BABYMETAL and they suddenly appeared on the other stage or if it was done with mirrors or maybe they teleported ... and then they saw it was like a throwback to the younger BABYMETAL with some red in the costumes and the three younger girls and they were mirroring Su, Moa and Momoko. They are a sort of younger sister group to BABYMETAL called Metalverse. They are girls who came through the same sort of grounding as Su, Yui , Moa and Momoko and this was their very first appearance and performance.
I see you a little lost in translation... hehe. Lyrics are about waking up late and having to hurry to get to school, having to choose a lip gloss and a cute hairstyle and being excited to meet your friends again. Very metal topics, indeed. 😁 "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" was their very first song. They originated in 2010 as a subunit of a larger j-pop idol group formed by girls between 10 and 15 years old. So, it had to be necessarily poppy (and it's also a bit childish and silly) but we have to admit that it's also crazy metal for that same context. In later live versions like this one, Su-metal imitates her younger self. Moa admitted that Su is very good at that. The other three ladies are METALVERSE, another group set by Kobametal (their producer and the person who came out with the whole BABYMETAL concept). This was their first appearance, by surprise and no one there had any idea what was going on. 🤘🦊
Sakura Gakuin's Heavy Music Club is the origin of BABYMETAL. Doki!Doki!Morning is the song that was the beginning of BABYMETAL. In just two years from 2010 to 2012, BABYMETAL has grown a lot, continuing to excite people and giving a lot of energy to young people who were depressed after the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. Great reaction friend 🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥 Japanese to English translations are notoriously inaccurate. Lost in translation is the common saying... As an English speaker myself, I don't worry too much with lyrical meaning, I just enjoy the show. I kind of feel that if I really wanted to understand the lyrics, I would learn more Japanese.
