The genus Ficus generally does not like to change its place. If you change the place from the shop to her new home, she reacts with leaf loss, sometimes quite severe. 😭🥰 hi!!! 🤗 hahahaha i feel this so deeply 😮💨 I’m glad you’re still loving the journey 💜💜💜 thx for watching im so glad to have encouraged you💞 have a great week!
Where I live in Virginia, Lowe's definitely has better house plants but I can find better sales Home Depot. I love the methodology of buying a new, healthy, plant and planting it with one that is not doing so well. I call it giving them a role model😂
I moved my Ficus Triangularis Veregada to pummice (semi-hydro) and it is THRIVING. I'm also in SO Cal and don't have high humidity. It even started fruiting! I highly recommend.
It's normal for the ficus Triangularis to lose all the leaves when you take it home. Mine did the same thing. Keep it in a sunny spot and it should grow back.
Hey Kaitlyn, you can return that first ficus at Lowes. They accept plant returns for up to a year with a receipt, no questions asked. Home Depot has the same policy. They’re really good about it.
This is so helpful thank you Greta!!!💜 I must admit that at this point I think I feel attached to the ficus and am invested in the outcome 😄😅 but maybe a return is still in order… thank you so much for confirming tho, it’s encouraging to hear you’ve had no problems with the plant returns!✨ have a great week!💜🌿💞
I had always heard that the variagated ficus triangularis was finicky, so i wasn't sure i would ever buy one. BUT, when i saw a 4" pot at a local store for $10 this spring, i decided to go for it. I brought it home, repotted immediately, put it in a west facing window (it gets very hot here, with low humidity), and so far so good! I'm sure you'll be successful this time!
this is so encouraging to hear😍! Im so glad you decided to go for it and I hope it continues to thrive!! thanks for sharing this😊🌷💜 have a great week!🌿✨
The universe is blessing to me today! I JUST sat down with a cup of tea and opened yt and saw a bew upload. Thankyou for the content Hope you're well 💜🌿
That’s how California people feel when they move here (Texas). Although inland empire is just as hot. Only difference is that you cool off in evenings while in Texas it’s just hot and humid all day.
1:46 Could hear the plants crying they wanted you as their new mother hehe! Ps: Do Not bring british Ivy inside! DO NOT WASTE TIME :) Shes an outdoor lover You guys make me smile so much 💚
thanks for the suggestion!💜 yes hopefully when the weather gets a little less hot and dry outside, I think it might be happy there😊💜🌿✨💞 thanks for watching have a great week!
So happy for you that you got the plants you wanted at the second time aswell. And your husband hype up too. Is nice when you have someone that feels your energy. They are cute like a miniature Ficus Tineke the variegations aswell. I do hear is a hard plant to take care of than the green one. I think they grow fruit too.
I lived in Corona and kept my ficus outside in full sun. They did great. keep evenly moist at all times. Don't water to the point that the water pores out bottom and don't underwater. I would water evenly basically everyday in summer lol. The watering schedule is key. Very fussy plant
YOu really love triangularis. I never had one but all of my ficus do best when I give them lots of light by a southern window and don't let them be dry for too long. Good luck
This was a fun video. I love seeing all the plants different stores have and what the prices are... your so good at what you do. Please keep up the good work 👍
Return the first ficus! They accept house plant returns for 90 days but you MUST have the receipt! I have done it for a plant that was super water logged and I tried to rescue it but it didn’t work and kept dying off
I wanted to let you know… I’m in Southeast Texas… I have a Ficus Triangularus and my leaves fell when I first brought it home. The greenhouse I bought it from allowed it to go VERY DRY!!! I have it, now, use to the watering that we do at our garden. But - The leaves grow back out exactly where they fell from. It will be fine. Just be patient with them.
I found a Philodendron Sodiroi at Home Depot last week! And I have seen Philodendron Gloriosum at Menards this summer! Good luck with your new plants!!
lol me running away from that guy with plants at the beginning feels so juvenile when I watch this hahaha my bad!! Normally I’d try strike up a convo with him but he reeeeally did not seem in the mood to talk to me 😅
I so want one of those plans so my gosh to Lowe's round my house have the lousiest plants ever always looking crazy I so want one of these I wish you the best
ahhh oh my goodness 🥰💜💜 thank you so much Chloe!!!🏹💖🤗 I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos here, thanks so much for watching!! ☺️✨✨ I hope you have a great week! 🌿🌷💜
I too bought a variegated triangularis from Planterina, and it too dropped all it's leaves 😂 I actually named it charlie because it looked like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree for about a year! I was sure it was dead, then spring hit and it flushed new leaves again!it's gone through about 3 drop cycles and is currently in the growing phase. I just went and counted, it has 20 leaves 😂😂😂
I live in The LA area and I find that the Home Depot is a hit or a miss and there aren’t many Lowe’s around 😢 but surprising Ralph’s and stater brothers are stepping up their game. I found a ficus shivera at a Ralph’s. Keep up the awesome content❤
Please keep us posted on the Ficus triangularis. I bought one in a 4 inch pot for Bartram Garden is Philadelphia about a month ago and transported it on Amtrak to Maryland. I thought it would drop all its leaves but surprisingly it hasn’t dropped a single leaf. I repotted it into Lechuza pon ( my choice of substrate for most plants). It hasn’t grown but all the leaves are in tact. I keep telling myself that it is working on its root system. Good luck!
wow I am SO impressed!!🤩💜💜💜 Maybe I need to try pon too- thanks so much for sharing this! I feel so encouraged to hear about your traveling ficus🧳😊🌿 have a great week!✨
We have a period of time a plant can be taken back if it dies, I would have taken the plant back to the store. I love how many plants you have . Enjoy your new plants 🪴
I have a ficus triangularis varigated that I got last fall. This Spring I put it in a window that receives some afternoon sun. It dropped some leaves so I moved it back a bit. It is growing so wasn't sure if they were just old leaves or not, but discovered it had a lite case of spider mites. I have since treated it, and it seems to be doing better in its new less sun position. I believe it doesn't like heat. Mine, I let dry out pretty good before watering it. I was actually going to give it away this fall which I still might do. Don't know if I like the bushy growth pattern, and it reminds me of holly at Christmas. Wish I was crazy about it like you are. I think I was when I got it.
Hi Kristie thanks so much for sharing your experience!! I think you’re right about the heat. And yeah it totally does grow looking like a holly! I’ve never seen one that looks like an actual tree except for in a conservatory/greenhouse setting. I’m totally supportive of rehoming plants that no longer bring the same excitement💜 I find my obsessive crazed feelings about this plant come and go but i’m in the depths of it right now haha!! Thanks for watching hope you have a great week!😊🌿✨💜
I’ve never had a this ficus in particular however I have a variegated ficus Benjamina and it lost sooooooo many leaves when I first got it. I thought it was a goner in the first week, kept researching and read they hate change and being moved, will drop tons of leaves when you move them. I left it alone for a month and it was still dropping leaves but less and less. I moved it to a different room and again it was losing them like crazy, it’s now fine again and I don’t touch it at all even to water it lol
Hi I'm a silent viewer of yours and it's my first time commenting just a tip: Variegated Ficus Triangularis are outdoor/direct sun-loving plant. They would need a ton of light if you like to keep them indoors or else they're leaves will drop and end up dying.
You lucky to have supportive hubby. I have 300 plants and have to hide from my hubby. Watch Sheffield made plants, there's a video on using stress coat to condition your tap water. Good luck with your ficus, hope the best.🥰💜
Hey Kaitlyn 😊. Awww your hubby is sooo cute . How wholesome you two are together . He is definately a keeper . It really seems that the Ficus triangularis variegata is extremely sensitive to big changes in soil moisture and humidity . But one day you will figure them out 😂😂😂😂. One day YOU will sit on one Triangularis var leaf , it will increase in size tenfold and like a magic carpet it will fly you to the 100 story tall mother tree which will teach you wisdom and knowledge about their kind 💮🐲 If i may suggest something is not to water them or only VERY slightly bottom watering when bringing them into your home . When i bring my plants home most of the time i do not do anything with them for at least 4 to 7 days. But FYI , the humidity here is mostly around 60 to 80 % so that helps immensely with EVERY PLANT ❤. You both now have a wonderful time together ❤❤ Kisses Matt
I, too, am a variegated ficus triangularis killer! I can’t help but to buy the super full ones at the nursery and am always optimistic that THIS time, I can keep it alive. I swear, some start dropping leaves right away and, worse, some stay healthy then drop the leaves 3-5 months later even though I’ve made no change to its care. I’ve got about 8 now in different stages of rehab lol. I won’t tell you how many have passed this life 😂. My only guess with your first one is that washing it took it off of its usual watering schedule?? We know they are looking for any reason to drop dead, lol. I’d be interested to see how your 2 new ones will do. Thank you for posting this!!
Our local WI Menards generally only carry houseplants when they have their outdoor plants set up, and every time I’ve looked they’ve been overwatered. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen just absolutely saturated ZZs.
Hello. If you keep your receipt with Lowe's plants and it dies within a year, you can return it for credit. You must tryurn it in its original pot with the stickers. Happy shopping.
I knew it! You moved down here in Temecula Valley! We neighbors! Why am I so excited about that?!? Lol anyways I have a ficus triangularis variegata and it lives out in my backyard and it’s looking good. I put up a pop up greenhouse during winter and keep it there and it’s growing 😊
I live in the Temecula, Murrieta area, and all my focus (burgundy, green, ruby, teniki, audrey, benjamina, altissima, triangularis green and variegated etc) my monsteras etc live outside, no cover in 100 degrees no humidity and snow like we had this year and are doing amazing. I even have a couple in the ground, which I'm planning on transferring to a pot because I'm scared after seeing our 60 years ficus in my family's property in Mexico lifting the tile in the living room. So in my opinion ficus like to live outside.
I've never seen/noticed variegated focus triangularis before, and after watching this saw some at the grocery store a few days later for $8 😂 I had to have it! Fingers crossed that it isnt too dramatic🤞
The Ficus Triangularis is a GREAT price for $20! Shipping will cause a lot of leaves 🍃 dropping. In my opinion very delicate plant. But it is very beautiful if I see it at my stores I will be buying. I enjoy your videos💚
Hi! I'm so happy you posted, hope you can help me with a little problem hahaha! Have you ever had one off those peperomias from the beginning (6:04)? The "cute and stretch out" hahaha! I have one who keeps dropping leaves, they don't fall off, but drop really sad. I had it on water for a while, which helped a lot, but after a few weeks the leaves just dropped again and I put her back on dirt. Do you have any tips for her to stand up/ come back? I usually over water, but with her nothing seems to be enough 😅 Thank you so much!
i think it could be a humidity issue, or that the roots have already gotten damaged or rotten so the plant is slowly wilting, it could also be that it needs a little brighter light.. i have a pepperoni frost in my bathroom right now in a very similar state - limp and never recovering but somehow hanging in there. Every time i look at mine I consider putting a humidity dome over it and then always forget as soon as i walk out of the bathroom haha. but I bet if you increased the humidity you might see it perk up after a few days, or you could try leaf propagating (also in a container or something to create a lot of humidity). I hope this helps, thx for watching and best of luck!😊🌿💜✨🤞🤞
I actually didn't consider humidity, thank you so much for the reply! Now that I know what they are called I can increase my research, good luck with yours too🥰🥰 😘😘♥️♥️
Lol girl I died . Hubs was so proud he found the ficus, and then when you came back on and bought 2 more! 😝 Return the first one if you haven’t already! Lowe’s and Home Depot have some of the best return policies when it comes to plants. I feel like Home Depot has a bigger variety with indoor but this can depend on the capacity of the store, and better sales that I tend to miss. Lowes by me tends to stock indoor plant stuff heavily sporadically and kind of taper off once fall starts coming so they can make room for Holiday stuff 🙄As far as Menards goes, it’s only in the Midwest and I feel like it depends on the store too. Unfortunately the one I regularly go to, in Evergreen Park, IL, only stock indoor plants a small handful of times in the beginning of spring/summer and they dwindle away through the season.
I bought my first ficus triangularis in Australia recently - for 3 leaves it cost me $130!! After losing one leaf, the seller told me to give it basically full sun for the first few weeks as they love bright light. And it worked! I now have a small, healthy ficus.
oh my gosh really?!!!! i always just assumed they didn’t do anything like that. thanks so much for this tip!!!😍🙏💜 i’m definitely gonna look into it / ask next time I go✨ have a great week!🌿🌷💞
I don't think its your fault on the ficus& transfer shock. It has to be that soil with poor drainage. Looks like it may have been overwatered as a result.
Hmmm… I think the AC hopping is what is killing the triangularis. Imagine what this means for a beeing that lives through a non-stop constant flow of water traveling upwards in its body, and you have the rapid temperature changes, that have an effect on the volume of the water. Like a humans blood pressure jumping from normal to, blood splashing out of ears, nose and eyes, back to normal in less than 60 seconds, two times. I really hope, the new ones have survived. If not, maybe putting it in a box of some sorts, for the ways to and from the car, an AC temperature in the car matching the temperature in the store, and a partner starting the cars AC 10 minutes before, could make moving more comfortable for the plant. Doing this early in the morning, when it hopefully is a little cooler is preferable. I have this fight in the opposite climatic borderline situation. Poinsettas die on the way from checkout to the car on like 30 foot, from the cold. So I started to use moving boxes and it helped. Good luck!

just to clarify to those who might be reading my previous comment with concern (like my mom, hi mom) it is a reference to a meme and no dogs were left in hot cars 💜
Return with receipt they end up dying Lowe’s will take it :) 🙌🏽 Congrats on finding more. I saw pink princess at Walmart for $24. So many plants I’m seeing at regular stores at great price that I never thought I would ever see in person. 🪴🪴🪴
I love the triangularis. I have tiny ones just holding in there in my terrarium 😂 Also, does your husband want a boyfriend? 😅I love him the more and more he's in the videos 😍
I love how your husband knows your wishlist plants too! So sweet 🥰 I also appreciate when you point out if a price is reasonable or not, it helps me know what’s a good deal when plant shopping!!
i feel so lucky to have his support🥰
I’m so glad this is helpful! thx for watching Trish💜 have a great week 😊✨🌿
I like that too❤
I agree. I had no idea all of this was a thing until I found her channel and then it began!!!
The triangular is is sensitive to drinking water chemicals like chlorine & fluoride, so it will do better on distilled water.
IKEA sells large self-watering pots that should keep both plants happy. I put a reminder on my phone calendar to check the reservoir weekly, or however often is required for the plant’s environment. And, of course, they dislike being moved around the house. Find a place that works for you plant and leave it there. 😊
Good luck!
😺✌️
You absolutely nailed that Star Trek “alien plant” description!
The genus Ficus generally does not like to change its place. If you change the place from the shop to her new home, she reacts with leaf loss, sometimes quite severe. So everything is ok, you haven't done anything wrong. Give her a permanent spot to stand, rotate her minimally, and she'll give you plenty of new leaves.
Hi to the person who got me on my plant journey. It has been an expensive and disappointing one but I love it.
😭🥰 hi!!! 🤗 hahahaha i feel this so deeply 😮💨 I’m glad you’re still loving the journey 💜💜💜 thx for watching im so glad to have encouraged you💞 have a great week!
Hahahaha. I hope you have lots of positive plant experiences in the near future :)

Agreed!! Spider mites or not they ..IVY don't like it in a house They do not like it with a mouse ...They do not like being a houseplant.
Omgosh I love how supportive your husband is!!! Let’s get 2 😁🙌🏼
Try to put outside the plant the first one you bought ...but indirect sunlight

I have a benjamina as well and I have had great luck with it so far

yes!! love the plant shopping teamwork 🥰💜💜 hahaha thanks for weighing in on the haircut 😆💞 have a great week!✨
Leave the ficus to receive morning direct sun and bright light during the day.
Do you still have your jaboa snake plant? I’ve never seen one as big as yours. Hope it made it to your new home.
*peperomia frost
Wow, 130
Coz here in the philippines we plant triangularis outside our home...
i would love to visit the philippines 🤩💜 that’s awesome this plant grows outside easily there✨ cheers!
Try making it some cinnamon tea. And water it with that. Make some tea, so that it can strengthen the roots. 😉
that’s a great idea for the anti fungal properties of cinnamon! thanks for the suggestion 😊💜🌿✨ have a great week!💞
idk about lowes but home depot lets u exchange plants up to a year, i think, dont quote me, after you get them if they start going south on you.
oh my gosh really?!!!! i always just assumed they didn’t do anything like that. thanks so much for this tip!!!😍🙏💜 i’m definitely gonna look into it / ask next time I go✨
have a great week!🌿🌷💞
Mourning Dove :)
Maybe wait for a few days before giving it a bath or repotting so you give it change to adapt to your house.
For big box plant shopping I prefer Lowe’s, always a better selection
I don't think its your fault on the ficus& transfer shock. It has to be that soil with poor drainage. Looks like it may have been overwatered as a result.
thanks for the reassurance Henry 🥰 yes I agree it would probably benefit from a repotting 🌿💜 thanks for watching have a great week!😊💞✨
My first thought was why didn't she put her hair up?? 😅😂 It's been so hot in Florida!
wow yes with your humidity there I would have to just live in the fridge I think!! 😅😮💨 haha hope you have a great week, thanks for watching Gina 😊💜🌿✨
I prefer Lowes over Home Depot because of pests. For some reason the HD here always has thrips on plants vs Lowes is moreso pest free imo 🤷🏽♀️
I have had two English ivys (one died of spider mites, so I got another one, which got spider mites). Pro tip. Do not get English ivy.

the third one you don’t even have yet just got spider mites
hehe thx for watching have a great week😊💜
@@reallybigplant Hahaha yes I bet! Have a great week!
Good luck!
❤❤❤❤❤
Beginner here. Why do you wash off the plants?
She's just trying to get rid of any possible pests
Put your triangularis outside and watch it GROW!!
Believe it or not but u can return the dead plant like that 🤷🏽♀️ hope u kept ur receipt
The ficus don't like moving unfortunately. The ficus is a pain plant.
😭🌿 they’re so wonderful once they get established but it’s a long journey sometimes 😮💨 thanks for watching have a great week!😊💜
Lows will take them back!
Oh if your Affaid of a plant it knows it... lol

It's A Dove not pigon. Lol
They're the same bird
i dont think its you....i bought one. and got it home quickly. and went down hill instantly.
Lowes are way better in my area of Pennsylvania
Yea take it back for a refund.
You could’ve easily gotten a refund or exchange for that plant
Please never leave your dog in a car in outside temps over 60 degrees. It is so dangerous. Just leave her home or walk her into the store with you.
my car full of plants: i got that dawg in me
just to clarify to those who might be reading my previous comment with concern (like my mom, hi mom) it is a reference to a meme and no dogs were left in hot cars 💜
Return with receipt they end up dying Lowe’s will take it :) 🙌🏽
Congrats on finding more.
