That is very interesting topic. I was always amazed with Piotr Kantor having his hands on the sand then jumping to block. I always have in back of my head question "If there is any sense and impact on high of jump doing that?". So still do not have clear answer but it can be individual characteristic as you said. Interesting :)
interested in viewer results from the 90 degree to the butt to heel. Troy is awesome to watch cause he can jump as high as any one. I didnt recall Mark mentioning a low block to hide the block from the hitter. I always thought Troy was going that low to take away his blocking position from the hitter essentially to keep the hitter from hitting the cut, angle, line, jumbo etc based on the blockers location. Either way great video and great channel thank you, cant wait for beach to come back into swing. Any word about Tours for the AVP? I'd love to make it to one
that's a side effect of squatting low but I've never met anyone who did it just for that reason. It's not like it's a total game changer anyway. It might get you a couple more blocks here and there but you might miss some others because of the mentioned positioning issues. Also if you're not the kind of jumper who likes to squat deep it would only hurt your vertical jump and your blocking.
After testing myself, I found out I'm more of a combo player. I don't really get higher on either. However going back and watching some recorded games, I tend to use the deep squat more. Almost too much. I noticed I get beat on some blocks (jumping late and getting tooled is the biggest). Would that be due to myself always being late or does it also depend on the other team changing the tempo of their sets?

I had been contemplating if going deeper in my squat would help my timing since I tend to jump too early on a block.
if the set is off, i will go down lower, if it's tight or closer i tend to half squat and go up faster...
good channel with great speaker! big hi from Russia
Still love to watch your videos and improve my beachvolleyball skills with it

perfect 👍 thanks a bunch!
Hands up? On side? Down low? (Like riley mckibben)
Thoughts about swing block to get higher?
Not a great idea for sand because of the instability it causes. Great for indoor though.

Sounds like a timing issue. Make sure you are penetrating after the block. Sometimes the deep squat can make you jump off the net.
How can I stop activating my rear delthoids with my rhomboid when I spike? Because you said you must activate only the rhomboid?
Try letting your hand be “floppy” during your arm swing.
