What makes it even crazier is that this sub zero was bottom tier. Mk9 was all sorts of crazy but was such a blast. I’m still addicted to this game after 10 years
Sub-Zero sure had a great taste of fully going overhead back then. We'll after all, he's known for going the spines, so why not overhead as well?!
MK9 Sub Zero is simply the best.

MK9 was a broken nightmare, but at least it was fun. MK11 is "balanced", but it's a boring nightmare!

Tbf , most of the characters could just armor break the clone or teleport out.
Yeah, but a good sub will predict that and you’ll get full combo and put yourself in the same situation
@@PDaac105 and another good player would just wait for an opening in one of his attacks, also Sub Zero players were garbage, spamming the same "combos" over and over again.

At least you dont lose at least 40% each combo like in MKX.
No, you lose far more with Characters like Kabal, Cyrax and Smoke to the point where you can't even get away if they touch you.

If I'm remembering correctly he had back3,3(double low) or back 2 (overhead) into ice shatter(clone explosion) into freeze into hard knockdown ender reclone
Or he could throw you into the clone as well or block string you and make it plus on block with low clone toss or ice shatter (clone explosion) for consistent safe on block pressure to set up clone again.

I haven't played MK9 but can't you armor out of the clone like in MKX?
Yes, although armor was more limited in MK9. Some characters didn’t have a single armor EX move lol.

@strykah92 Wait, some characters didn't have armored moves? I thought the only character without armor was raiden, but he doesn't really need it because of invincible teleport.
@PRO-Never_DiE Well I haven't played it so I couldn't enjoy it when it in its prime but MKX was my first fighter game and I really enjoyed it. Too bad things went downhill with injustice 2. Before anyone says it's a good fighting game... it's not. It's just trying to be a damn shooter game instead

Remember Sub's Ice Clone and Ice Puddle being BASE special moveset? Remember Scorpion having more then just TP and Spear for base special? Remeber when characters were actually unique, and had an archetype of some sort?

Yeah sure, bc the opponent Is just gonna stay there like an idiot, the overhead Is Hella reactable, and the slide Is Hella unsafe, and Scorpion has a teleport
Sub was trash tier in that game but I think the point of the video was if sub put you in jail it wasn't fun. Also the teleport is also Hella unsafe.
@@shungokusatsulol not gonna deny that sub in the corner had some good tech with ice clone shenanigans, but he Is nowhere near as oppresive as some people make it out to be, for the most, you were in a position in which you could answer to anything your opponent may try to do, but so Is your opponent, it's mostly a neutral Situation, and most characters had either armor or safe proyectiles, or teleports, sub IMO It's not so bad, but he has some pretty dreadful matchups
@@damiangallo4185 I agree lol. He was garbage in mk9. This tech is cool but I have never seen anyone use that for good reasons being that it’s unsafe on block. I became a huge fan of Tom Brady cause of this though. Gotta respect him for beating so many good players with garbage ass mk9 sub lol
