- Two climate activists hurled soup Sunday at the glass protecting the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum in Paris and shouted slogans advocating for a sustainable food system.
In a video posted on social media, two women with the words “FOOD RIPOSTE,” meaning “food response,” written on their T-shirts could be seen passing under a security barrier to get closer to the painting and throwing soup at the glass protecting Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece.
“What’s the most important thing?” they shouted. “Art, or right to a healthy and sustainable food?”
“Our farming system is sick. Our farmers are dying at work,” they added.
The Louvre employees could then be seen putting panels in front of the Mona Lisa and asking visitors to evacuate the room.
Paris police said two people were arrested following the incident.
On its website, the “Food Riposte” group said the French government is breaking its climate commitments and called for the equivalent of the country's state-sponsored health care system to be put in place to give people better access to healthy food while providing farmers a decent income.
Angry French farmers have been using their tractors for days to set up road blockades and slow traffic across France to seek better remuneration for their produce, less red tape and protection against cheap imports.

They need to make this a capital crime
And my heart breaks for all the farmers 💔
Actually,
on the local news in France, the activists or people (whatever they are called), did it because they are going hungry there, farmers are having a terrible time (government issues), farmers are getting suicidal and killing themselves over this very big issue, and they are pouring food (soup) because their issue is not having nutritious food available for their families, children as well as farmers.
They did this not to hurt the protected, Mona Lisa but to get a larger awareness on their issues...
Unfortunately, on their news, they did not go into their grievances clear enough, if at all...

I guess they were right. It did cause a big stir but from what I could tell, they didn't really get to go into depth about what was happening..other than real hunger for nutritious food needed, help for farmers who are driven to extremes...

No, they are not right. This is an extremely bad tactic. Get people to sign up for wind/solar in their homes through the grid!!!
Wait, this was about the farmers? They really didn't make it clear because the support would be there I think.
