It's never about awareness to any problems to get solutions, it's always about vandalism. Tearing down what we look at as beauty. It's a direct spiritual attack on you. The individual.
Also, if you want to enact social change, you have to be very patient. Social change is a very long, boring, and uninteresting process that takes dozens of years if not centuries. However, if you want things to change NOW, it is possible to do so through destruction.
Volvo did this they said we support you and then left them where they glued themselves. they cried when they were hungry and no one was their to let their uber eats guy in.
My first thought when people glue themselves to immovable objects (walls, floors, etc) is just leave them there. Remove anything valuable or that they could use and let them enjoy the consequences of their action. At least for a few days. Many people could agree with their basic statement, however as others have pointed out, this type of protest mostly turns people against them. And unless there is some direct connection to a specific artist, why deface/destroy the art? And kudos to the guard. Great awareness.
Shame, ostracization, talking down, detroying art is the opposite of persuasive. Use that energy to make your community greener in clever ways and put it on social media while you educate. So many people winning over hearts every day on social media in beautiful ways!
Winning over hearts on social media? Who is doing that? Guess you don't understand what is really going on with social media. When an entire point of view from millions of people is removed via censorships, nobody wins.
“So uhhh, I want to fix climate change” “How’re you gonna do that? Raise campaigns? Provide proper insight to the cause?” “No, by adding adhesive to my hands and failing to ruin works of art miserably”
So far museums around the world have been fortunate that no works of art have suffered any permanent damage from these protesters... but I fear eventually a valuable work of art will be damaged or destroyed for the sake of "climate change"?! I'd hate to think the freedom of visiting any museum, will result in routine metal scanners and body checks like the TSA at airports, similar to what I was subjected to on my visit to NYC in 2017. I went through "bag checks" at... The Met, the Guggenheim, the MOMA, the Empire State Building, the NY Public Library and the 9/11 Memorial Museum! All of them except the NY Public Library, I had to leave my tote bag at a "bag check" station during my visit, then retrieve on my way out! Pathetic...
When these "kids" grow up, like say double their age now... DO YOU THINK they'll look back at this and be like, "Man we were so young & dumb" and regret it?? OR, will they be like, "What we did back then was some of the bravest things a person can do! I'm so happy we did it!" 🤔🤔
While i get your point i think thats illegal. Well unless they make it clear they arent real and just copies and in that case who is going to pay or visit to see copies.
How does these actions affect their cause? Publicity? Awareness? For what they're trying to say vs what they're doing, seems to me that these "activists" just have some loose screw. And I believe in climate change and that something needs to be done for the future but these types of activism is just plain dumb.
