Thanks Paul, I pass the cemetery on the Stuckton Road, Fordingbridge often, nice to know such a well known and prolific actor is buried there, I’ll pop in and pay my respects. Had he lived longer I’m sure he would have been recognised for his huge contribution to the film and tv world. Sad such talent leaves us so young. RIP Neil
Thanks for another excellent video Paul. As a bit of a Steptoe and son fan, I remember him invading Harold’s privacy while trying to bury the much alive Albert. He appeared with George Tovey, Sam Kydd and Bill Maynard trying to get a sneaky peek at the deceased Albert, only to be told he died sitting on the carsey 😂
Neil was a great actor who was skilled in both dramatic and comedy roles. He was very prolific and regular appears on TV in a host of nostalgic programmes and films. So versatile.
Thankyou Paul for another interesting commentary. A small link with Neil is that my great uncle, Ivor Emanuell played private Owen in the film Zulu. Ivor I think did not have anymore T.V appearances as he then appeared in many stage shows, during the rest of his acting career.
Hiya Paul. That sure is a great, and long list of achievements accomplished by this Actor. I do remember a few of the films he was in. And in such a short time. 52 is no age is it really. But his health let him down, as you mentioned. Take care Paul. - R.I.P. Neil.
Thank you Paul for telling us about Neil McCarthy life story I remember him he was a great actor he was in Randell and Hopkirk last week and lots of other programmes it’s shame he died so young thank you for showing us around the gravesite it’s so interesting to hear about him 💕🦋⭐️⭐️👼Rest in peace Neil
I was born in Sleaford, a wee bit after Neil's dad was a dentist there. he did visit the area from time to time, in fact my cousin presented him with a tankard when he opened our village (leasingham) fete probably in the late 70's, maybe early 80's
I never knew this actors name until now. I do remember him from Zulu which was always played on the tele on a Sunday afternoon after dinner. (There was always a War film on tely on Sunday afternoon). I'm sure he was in a few Carry On films as well. Sad to see his grave run down and forgotten.
He was never out of work, just shows you how talented he was and played the piano. Like to see a documentary on his life, that would be a fitting tribute to him. Thanks Paul for reminding us of him.
I didn't recognise his name but as soon as I saw his face I recognised him, he appeared in so many films and programmes a very talented actor. So sad he died young but what a lovely cemetery to be finally laid to rest looks very peaceful and calm. Thank you for a very interesting video
Geoffrey Bayldon who played Catweazle said of Neil he was a 'gentle giant and highly intelligent'. Neils's face was a frequent sight on British TV during the late 60s and through the 70s, a very good actor and its a shame to see his grave so neglected with just plastic flowers on it.
Grew up watching Neil McCarthy as my dad was a big fan. My fav program is The Professionals and I remember him in one episode. Fab scary actor 🤎 Thanks Paul and loved how you couldn't fathom the gate hatch-defo me and no doubt alot of friends on here 🥰
Hi Paul, just to say that I love watching your videos every week. You do a great job. Any chance of doing one on Star Trek's John Winston? Keep up the great work. Love, Joan
I remember Neil well from tv when I was a child. I particularly loved him in Catweazle. I knew he died young but didn't know the cause. Another great video Paul.
What a lovely actor he was, so often in front of our faces yet so quickly he disappeared and we didn't realise he wax gone but he is a staple of my eatkier life and the films I love. So glad I got to see this and share the memory of this memorable man. Thank you.
I remember him in almost all the TV shows and some of the films as I haven't seen them all. Its sad he died quite young of MND cruel illness. Thank you for reminding me of him, he really was a great actor. Died relatively young but had an amazingly busy life.. rip Neil xx
Great video Paul, very respectful, Neil McCarthy was a very clever and talented guy, unfortunately not blessed with great health and passed away far too young. He did appear in some fantastic movies: Zulu , Where Eagles Dare and classic television productions. I remember him in one of my favourite movies: The Hill, he did not have a massive role, such a powerful cast, he played Staff Burton and looked every inch the part. May he R.I.P 🙏
Thanks paul for another amazing rundown on a amazing celebritys life i remember neil mcarthy in zulu and clash of the titans what a absolutely fantastic actor RIP neil fly high with the Angels 😇 God bless you
Hi Paul, I had no idea Neil had died so young and from Motor Neurone Disease. He was one of those character actors that seemed to in everything. I certainly remember him in Catweazle, Dr Who and the Lord Peter Whimsey story. A great actor. Keep ‘em coming! Best wishes, Mark
Uhh ja unheimlich, ich kann mich kaum noch erinnern. Ist sehr lange her. Paul ❣️❣️👋
@@UnusualThings1Hell paul? Can you find Roger Delgado last resting place? He played the 1st master in dr who in the jon pertwee years. All I know that he died in car crash in turkey in 1973 june 18th. Not too sure if he's plotted in the uk or abroad.🙏 But he was a great character actor from the 1950's and 60's
Yes remember him from my youth...he was in one of the Steptoe and Son films. Great find, too many of the younger generation really wouldn't know about him but back in the day... RIP Mr McCarthy
Great visit - Someone you might not necessarily think of but an incredibly hard working and good actor who did a massive anount a relatively short life.
Thanks mate for making this video. My favourite film is Zulu. And all the actors were very respectful of the battle and people who took part. In North Benfleet near Basildon we have a grave of a soldier who fought at Waterloo. Maybe see about that one mate. Then evidently the church at Burstead near Billericay there's a queen of England buried there. Seven miles apart 👍👌
Wow he was a busy actor in so many things i remember him in Emmerdale and steptoe & son such a brilliant & talented actor 👍 such a shame he passed away so young RIP Neil Mccarthy 🙏🌹🕊️🦋✨
Very interesting one, it’s not until I subscribed to your channel did I realise how many of the rich and famous not only lived around us but are sadly buried around us. Thanks for a great video, looking forward to the next one😊
Paul. Thanks for yet another great episode. First came across Neil in Zulu. He was what I would consider to be a journeyman actor. Did so much. Thanks. On a separate note, I am currently in Los Angeles. Couldn’t resist visiting Westwood Park memorial cemetery to see Peter Falk’s (Columbo) grave. There are so many celebrities interred there! What I noticed though is that the graves markers can be very plain and in some cases blank!!! Regards, Bob
Thank you Paul for the very nice and respectful vlog about Neil McCarthy. He was a very talented man and as others have said an actor you recognise but don't know their name. Sad he died far too young and from the awful Motor Neurons disease. RIP Neil.
Hi Paul nice to see you I thought this man was quite a good looking man have seen him in many tv programmes very distinctive face thanks Paul much love ❤️😊
Thank you Paul for bringing this video to us I can remember Neil in many films and TV shows a shame we loose these fantastic actors at such a young age Well done Paul keep the good work up Karl
What a great actor. Remember him very much as a kid who grew up in the 70s and 80s. Nice to know that sometimes you dont have to drive too far from Pompey!
Hey Paul, I honestly didn’t remember the name but as soon as I saw his face, then of course the films, amazing guy and so talented R. I. P. Neil McCarthy.
He died fairly young didn't he. He was a familiar face in British films and TV of the 60s, 70s and 80s. He often turned up in stuff like The Sweeney and despite looking quite a menacing character he had a good range and could play vulnerable and kindly characters too. I was watching the early 1970s kids show 'Catweazle' on TV a couple of years back and he plays a farmhand called Sam who is partial to a flutter on the horses in that. His role in Clash of the Titans was one of the highlights of the film even though I don't even remember him having much, if any, dialogue.
Hola paul,, good show as is normal shame neils grave has been so forgotten looks weather worn now, keep up the great vids love watching and listening to the biographies...Peter....Spain..
Lovely video Paul …I remember Neil McCarthy …I’ve seen him in Zulu and lots of other films and serials …Great Actor …Beautiful cemetery Paul …Thankyou X💞

I was 12 when Clash of the Titans came out and remember his character and was quite scary. Thanks for sharing this about him, so informative.
Great character actor, that I can remember watching in many things in the 70's and early 80's. Respectful as always thanks Paul.
He starred in some of my favorite movies. Thanks for showing us his final resting place.

The Hill.... Starred Ian Hendry and Sean Connery. A film that deserves to be better-known.
The Hill, I totally agree, a classic, brilliant cast. Harry Andrews as R.S.M. Wilson 👍
Thanks
Cheers Joe, as always 🙏
