2006 ram 2500 5.9 cummins with 175k miles had hard start, once it was on it would run fine. Had no check engine light come on or codes. Spent a week looking for some similar issues with other cummins owners and had no luck until i ran into this video! Bought the prv and got it today and truck is back on the road! Thank you! Definitely helped me
I am literally walking a guy through a diagnosis of a no start on the TDR forums as this vid drops. Keep up the good work, hurray for common rail content!
I have a 1966 Massey Ferguson Diesel tractor. Never have used starting fluid. Still cranks 2nd or 3rd turn. In the 5.9L I found that water in the fuel will be hard to start. Diesels hate water. Too much can blow your head. Usually the engine is getting air in the system. Just because one engine has a problem doesn't mean all of the engines will have the same. There are many factors that can cause your problem. One fix may be ok for a week or so then another problem starts up. If a diesel isn't making you a lot of money, then you don't need it. Many young guys hot rod their diesel trucks, and wind up paying thousands of dollars in repairs. Treat your diesel gently. The power can destroy transmissions.
I have a p0148 injectors are bbi 1.5 maybe 20k miles new cp3 industrial injection stock but revs higher brand new airdog installed truck idles high like 10.2 on my edge and when driving I let out it drops to 1.0
My dodge is doing the same thing….I replaced the rail pressure switch I am thinking about replacing rail pressure sensor and fuel control actuator after I clarify the lift pump is okay
Awesome video. I have the same issue now. First thing i did was change out my fuel pressure relief valve, but that didnt work. Then i did fuel filter and that also didnt work. Bone stock truck with 160k miles, so im guessing at this point it could be fuel control actuator, bad injector(s), or bad lift pump. Lift pump does turn on though when key is on no start. I guess i should un plug the fuel actuator and see if it starts up at least to rule that out. Also no CEL are on. Just wondering where you would go next. Thanks.
Hi my truck only starts with starting fluid but there is no fuel in the fuel filter housing. I fill it up with diesel and put starting fluid but I have to repeat the process for the truck to run

Did you find the issue ?
@@dgkreal831 Yes. It was indeed the fuel injectors. I replaced all 6 with OEM Bosch. No issues.
@@Tinkerer4Life-pp2dg how did you figure out it was the injectors, did it give a code that shows it was injectors.
@@nickkiosk5513 I did a fuel return test and it exceeded the normal amount. I have a video of the test on this channel.

Up in Canada those rail sensors sell for $400.00. Not a cheap part but still good info, thnx. What's your opinion on rail plugs?
Do you know where I can buy the banjo bolt and washers that go on the fuel release valve?

Sounds like fuel pump failure check wiring to fuel pump.
I have a 2005 Dodge Cummins four-wheel drive 48re how much would you charge to rebuild it??? I love the channel and see that you do great work
Depends on a lot. Dm us on Instagram let’s see what we can figure out @dirtydiamonddiesel

Hey your problem is in yer right hand
Don't ever use either on these 5.9L engines. You will ruin the engine. Could blow head off, crack the head, blow a piston. Don't be an idiot
