This is a perfect example of how you do a teaser trailer. You’re not getting a synopsis or plot of the the entire movie, but it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe. That’s a teaser!!!
I'm so sick of when they show major development in trailers, like we already see who the bad guy is and everything else. Show us the main characters and a tiny glimpse of their world and that's perfect.
How many times have we seen fire-girl and Water-boy as some cartoon shticky thing? Inside out was already an unoriginal concept, this is even more basic
I can’t help but notice the emphasis on the interaction between characters; everything one character does ends up benefiting another in some way. The only negative reaction is when Wade tries to help Ember, and slightly hurts her. Ember is also the only fire person in the train, and is seen moving carefully to avoid others. Perhaps that’s what the movie will focus on, Ember living in a world where it feels like everything she does either gets her hurt or hurts someone else.
At around :58 you can see one of the elemental’s parents pulling their small child away from Ember- subtle, but noticeable. I think you’re right on the money about the theme.
yeah, looks like there will be prejudice towards fire elementals. This looks like a cute love story, I'm really curious to how the lore will be expanded on.
Just saw the movie. I just realized that this teaser goes back to the good old days of Pixar where their teasers act as short films that do not tell you about the plot of the film. It's nice to see them doing that again with this.
i’m kinda thinking this teaser is like when they first met. my thought is maybe ember had to go to the city to get some supplies for the shop and met wade, since in the actual movie they never had them introduce themselves i was confused how they knew each others names lol so maybe they had met in passing like once and then yknow they saw each other again in the movie
It sort of does show a problem (not a bad thing imo) - every element can help each other or has a positive effect on others, even the things that we irl would call gross and bad. Earth's armpits produce nice smelling flowers for an air, a water's sneeze helpd grow an earth's "hair" - but Ember has to be REALLY careful not to touch anyone, and Wade accidentally does some small amount of damage to Ember's hands by trying to help her pick up her headphones. I think the movie will be about that contrast between fire and water, and how Ember feels like she can't help anyone, in a world where everyone _can_ help each other
Some important things to note: not only is Ember the only fire elemental on the train, the train is designed to accommodate all elements except for fire.
I saw the movie and I absolutely disagree on people who says that this movie is a flop. Maybe watch the movie first before hating on it. I'll rate this 10/10 the movie is absolutely stunning and very sweet. As a daughter I also when through what Ember went through.
fr,this movie was so good, one of the bext pixar romantic movie, its sad that it get alot of hate, I recommend to watch it before hating(Unless if you did watch it but still hate, your opinion)
ember's clothes look to be some sort of metal linked fabric that shields others from getting burned by her. that's pretty cool. I like how you can still see her flames through the small gaps in the material, so her flame isn't getting smothered but others are still protected.
I LOVE how the different elements are involuntarily helping each others! Like the water guy sneezing on the earth guy and making his grass grow! I feel like this could be a theme that will be developed more in the movie...
I think it’s pretty cool that the heat from her body affects the cloud elementals, making some of the droplets in the clouds turn to steam and evaporate when she walks by
@@DiamondDrizzle 0:39 my dude, it happened with all of them except one at the beginning 🤔 at first I thought it was just the breeze of her walking past them but the second cloud elemental she passed had no wispy wisps of any kind
THIS is how you make a teaser. It's the perfect introduction to the world and how it works. There's several details that make you understand it. Can't wait for the actual movie.
This doesn’t tell us anything about how the world works. That would imply it shows us what these different people do, how they live there lives, how do they sustain themselves, what are the threats they have to face etc. What this tells us is simply what the world is, that being a world where elementals take the role of humans, and that there might be a good reason to hide the fact that you’re a fire person.
we all know that the movie is gonna go like this - ember and wade get together - the parents find out, and they go like "she is dangerous and not from our species so stay away from her" - they get together - movie ends
How the world works??? Just like in Sing! Put non-human characters in absolutely human world. There is no logic in what was shown, just funny shticks about different elementals.
Nobody seems to notice that there is an old asian short animation about 4 elemental characters exactly like these living with each other, just the girl was water and the boy was fire, lol coincidences?
@@lazersword Actually, nah. Take a look at Turning Red. If Pixar feels that movie needs more experimental look, then they are gonna go for it. I bet people had lots of fun playing with water, fire and other elements in Elemental.
I had seen Elemental yesterday with my mom, dad and nephew....I treated everyone because it was Father's Day......and we all loved it!!! It has beautiful animation, good story, everything......and Wade Ripple is just a big sweetheart.........I think he is my favorite character.......I encourage EVERYONE to see this!!
I like how you can see Ember's head glowing through her hood. There's so many little details like that in this trailer alone, I can't wait to see more.
I love Ember's voice, it just has that slight, spicy, huskiness to it that just says fire, without being overly obvious or dramatic, it just fits. I hear the voice, and instantly it is what I imagined a fire would sound like. Not destructive, not too warm, but a neutral in between ground that is the same potential to be warm and destructive and bright and all things fire can do. Lovely
Wade’s also sounds awesome, it’s very calm, and has some sort of evenness to it that kinda reminds me of how people sound underwater. Excited for this one
@@SwarmOfBees404 his is amazing too! But I just found more to talk about with Ember's, his kinda didn't hit me that hard. But somehow knowing that you like and appreciate it makes me happy!
Just watched the movie and I loved it. Can't understand the bad reviews it got and the lack of cinema audiences is a mystery to me. Sure, the film has its moments when you think, similar stories have been told before. But Elemental still has a unique story about two separate worlds that meet and have to work together, and then their relationship develops into something wonderful. I had nothing to complain about, I could easily watch the movie again. Pixar has managed to create one of the better films since Inside out. Well done pixar, you've nailed it again, whatever others say.
great teaser. No synopsis, no conflict shown, just people on a train. Little details that show the dynamic between the elements shows how fire is unwelcome. Perfectly encapsulates the vibe without giving anything away. I really hope this isnt gonna be another cliche pixar plot, because it looks promising
What details did you see that it was unwelcome? Im either blind or i thought different since I thought they were pretty relaxed or aloof of her prescence
@@isabellabrown9298 well there’s a reason she has her hood up and is just walking straight through, and there’s also probably a reason why we don’t see any other fire elementals on the train
Actually they showed everything about this movie setting in a 5 seconds. Gonna be a story about two opposite worlds: men and women of different temperament. Story about love between them and how hard and painful it can be, when you don't match and still have feelings to each other.
This is what Pixar excels at. Taking the audience to a new world, whether it be that of toys, bugs, monsters, robots, rats, or emotions. And this elemental world looks like a feast for the eyes, so I for one am very excited to see where this goes
@@rubensmith8075 I didn’t include the last three since superheroes are still technically human, as is the talking red panda, and souls are still a part of humans, so I did not include Soul or Coco. And I didn’t mention Cars because that franchise gives us a world that’s more confusing than anything else
@Kempo Karate Boy that one sort of has the same issue that Cars does where it’s just a human-like world that isn’t inhabited by humans but is barely any different from if it was. The ones I’ve mentioned either exist within the human world and use it as a blueprint, like Ratatouille, Wall-E and A Bug’s Life, or exist separately from the human world like Monsters Inc and Inside Out. We get new ideas through worlds like these, and it looks like this movie will follow the same concept by showing us what a society of elemental beings looks like. How it’s similar to ours, but also how it’s different
I love the detail of the cloud guy giving a weird stare at ember at 0:37 and the father pulling the son away from her at 0:56. It shows how the fire element are seen as destructive and dangerous. Also worth noting how she is the only fire element on that train and she is wearing a coat to cover up her flames. I feel like this movie is gonna have a similar messege to Zootopia.
@@TheStrongFriend1 The way I see it there are 4 elements in the trailer, air, water, earth and fire. Earth can also be branched with plant/wood, seeing that there are grass and plants growing on the earth Elementals. So it is possible that, correction the mother, would pull away her child so he doesn't get burnt by Ember's fire.
@@afifzahiruddinrohaizan52 Plot twist for this movie: This is secretly the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie we all wanted and people will remember it for being somewhat similar.
@@Savagewolver Well, I mean... Moana, Wreck it Ralph, Zootopia are a few that come to mind. That's just thinking Pixar/Disney/Animated movies. I'm sure there are lots more than just 3 that I think of off the top of my head.
The little details in this teaser are fantastic. The book the dirt guy was reading, the dust cloud guy wearing a "wind breaker" and the way she avoids touching anyone on the train. Also, her jacket is so cool. I want one!
I like how the water element guy is the slightly clumsy one. Fire is considered destructable and unpredictable, despite the fact that if you see a fire,it typically looks quite elegant. Water,on the other hand,is very changeable and a bit messy. I hope the movie is as good as the trailer seems!
fr I noticed too, and judging from that I can tell that wade will probably be the shy awkward one compared to ember's more graceful movement and personality
Yeah like Finn because this is basically a rip from adventure time over produced and unorginal where they will more than likely. Ahem: fall in love but will have to come up with ways to go around hurting one another 2 have a falling out 3 eventually make up and some how make it work.
Well Fire is the element of Power. They have the desire and energy to achieve what they want. While Earth is the element of Substance. They are persistant and enduring. While Air is the element of Freedom. They appearantly have a good senses of humor 😁 While Water is the element of Change. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.
@@SalariaStudios It's an oold cliche so it's not necessarily a rip from adventure time specifically. I do hope it's not one of those plotlines though, considering the trailer literally shows no plot at all.
Pixar really knows how to make really gorgeous 3D animation. Each movie has an unique art style. This looks amazing. I think this will be a very fun movie 🍿
I'm not insulting it, it's actually a compliment. This movie feels like Inside Out. The last time I felt that was with Soul. So, this is a pretty good sign!
Pixar absolutely THRIVES when it comes to their original movies, and this does not seem to be an exception. I can’t wait to learn more about these characters and this new world
@@eunhogarcia5293 we don't know, just look how the peopl tought Lightyear was gonna be good but ends up being mediocre. So, don't get high expectations
Probably not the first to point it out, but it is interesting how Ember is the only fire person on the train. We see plenty of earth, water and air people but no other fire people. Also love how the different elements interact with each other and just act in general. Air people can “stand” on the ceiling, a water person can make grass grow on earth people by sneezing, and so forth. Definitely looks to be a very interesting movie and even if it’s not great the world itself looks super imaginative
It could be that considering that fire is considered a destructive element, that fire people are considered dangerous and so, feared. So maybe we will be seeing a movie that partially highlights discrimination and prejudice against other races
This is actually what a teaser is. It doesn't spoil like 80% of the movie for you but it also gives you enough to get intrigued about it. It's nice that Pixar is doing a theatrical movie non-sequel related now. Also, it's kind of cute to see the subversion of the rebellious tough boy and nice and fun girl in this movie 🔥💧. The last time I saw that subversion was probably in Atlantis.
@Nightwing defeating bad guys Nah it would be more like: Can we all agree that Disney and Pixar never disappoints? Toy Story 4 and Lightyear: "DId you guys forget about us?"
Love how their names Wade (wade through the water) and Ember (small piece of burning wood in a dying fire) could also represent their character and personal journeys as the story unfolds.
It's really cool to see not only such dynamic character designs, but also environment designs from Pixar again. Sure, we still get very interesting worlds and characters, but modern movies seem to all match the same general character design. It's been a while since I've watched a Pixar trailer and felt that magic of walking into a world so spunky and dense, it's almost nostalgic. This movie is going to be different, for sure.
It looks like the design principle was ovals and pear faces. It would have been awesome if they just made them look like jazzy people with elemental attributes.
I was pulled into it the moment I watched it too. I actually replayed the entire teaser just to look at all of the details of how the different elemental characters reacted to each other!
I can’t get over embers clothes and how they have a metallic look too them like they’re made of metal which makes since cause fire would burn most fabric, it’s so detailed and creative
I think this teaser is very interesting and perfect. It didn’t show up in the movie, but it set up a vibe and can hook you in out of interest because it just doesn’t show plot or anything. I loved it and the movie
The teaser reminds me a lot of _Zootopia_ . _Zootopia_ : What would it look like if animals lived like humans? _Elemental_ : What would it look like if elements lived like humans?
Some important #x3xvideossx3x1s things to note: not only is Ember the only fire elemental on the train, the train is designed to accommodate all elements except for fire.
This is such a great theme. Not only is there incredible possibilities for characters based on elements, but also the architecture for them. Think of all the cool metaphors! I bet this will have amazing visuals.
@@ErikZarins it's more like a marketing gamble. Show too little and no one's interested, but show too much and everyone's already watched the movie. I didn't think I'd live to see a movie of this classic Fire Boy & Water Girl, but I'm so excited and looking forward to it! A movie about the elements of nature, it was bound to at some point, it's one of the few things Pixar haven't made a movie out of yet.
Like, no joke, I was looking for this exact comment cause I was just saying to myself, “is Disney gonna make a fire girl and water boy movie”, I was just laughing at the realization but I do hope that this is a good movie
I used to think 1:14 was Ember’s “love at first sight” glance but the more I watched it, the more I realized Ember was probably shocked and in awe that someone who was from the Water species actually apologized to her. She’s probably used to being hurt by other Water members but they probably went “it’s not my fault you’re made of fire…” so this is probably the first time someone acknowledged that, while it was unintentional, they did hurt her and wanted to make things right, which is why she responds with that look in her eyes. I’m kinda excited to watch how this unfolds.
@quinzerrak4975 So, in your opinion, what's a way this movie could be written so that it isn't considered woke? I'm curious to know if there could be a way it could be told with content in it that is not considered woke while also being something considered well-written (I'm an artist myself and always looking for new ways to learn these skills).
What I love about Pixar trailers is the fact that they release only when you least expect it. Unlike other movie studios where they're always like, "NEW TRAILER TOMORROW" Pixar just releases it out of the blue. God I love this studio 👍
Well, you know what month they release. If it releases in June, then a teaser will release in November. If it releases in March, then the trailer will be in June. If it releases in November, then the trailer comes in June or July.
I love the subtly of the different looks she get from some passengers. She is the only fire elemental in the train and some passengers don’t notice her but others do. Those who do notice her don’t smile but either frown or give a wary glance. The only one who does smile at her is a child who reaches out at her before being pulled backwards by their guardian, indicating that the child doesn’t know any better that she could technically hurt him and the parent believes she’s dangerous. Really interesting subtly details.
@@joshuagleeson4776 From the studio that brought you Toy Story, Inside Out, Monsters, Inc., Luca, Finding Nemo, Coco, The Incredibles, Cars and Turning Red
This short minute long clip already gives us such a good look at the world of this movie. From the suspicious glances other passengers give Ember, to the different clothing materials depending on the element, to the name "wetro" for the boat-train thing, and the schedule for the wetro looking like the periodic table (last two aren't really world-building aspects, but they're fun details). It almost reminds me of Zootopia, with the train car being equipped with soil beds for earth elements and shower heads for water. I already can't wait for this movie to come out! 🔥💧
I don't know what the criticism is about. This movie was one of the best movies I have ever watched from Pixar. It's so sweet, so heart touching. It makes me think about it everywhere I go because of how connected you can get to the characters. Instead of looking at the story, people look at how realistic the movie looks. In my opinion the visual concept of Elemental looks great, and suits the story so well. People these days prefer realism than story which is quite concerning. No matter how bad the review's are on this movie, it will always stay in my heart. It describes love in a beautiful way. Like they say, opposites attract, and Elemental has demonstrated that in the best way possible. PS: I will not watch this movie only once. I must rewatch it again and again 😂
The art style and animation look phenomenally beautiful. As well as the characters or elements are different shapes, sizes and even colors. I think and hope it will a pretty good movie. Plus the end with our two characters, Wade and Ember, if they do have a romance friendship turn relationship, they are going to be a new favourite ship.
I absolutley adore the vibe that this teaser trailer has music, characters, and it doesn't give off anything about the plot which is a good thing, can't wait
i love the contrast between ember and her music style, as well as what we've seen of her chill personality fire is often seen as a destructive and negative force, hot-headed and angry; when fire is actually a very helpful and nice thing, as it keeps us warm and provides light, comfort, and a place to prepare food for sustainance, and allows for us to create smoke signals as a sign for other people that theres life nearby just thought it was pretty neat
Water can be viewed in the same way Fire is. It drowns, it destroys, and its much more potent than fire in many ways, so I feel like their gonna make Wade the hot-headed impulsive one instead of Ember
Such beautiful animation, and the creativity in all of these characters is unbelievable. Seems like it's going to be one of the more mature Pixar films. Can't wait!
Zootopia: Animals Onward: Mythical Creatures Elemental: Land, Air, Water, And Fire This looks like a very cute movie, like Zootopia and Onward. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT IN THEATERS
Please release this in theaters! Disney has made such strange choices about what films to put in theaters and which to skip - this looks like a beautiful one for the big screen.
I love how this trailer doesn't really show much. It's vague, but not in a bad way. They still showed enough to show that this movie has some promise. I think a lot of movie trailers nowadays give away too much, and I've even recently considered to stop watching trailers so I can watch movies blind. I did that with Scoob, Encanto, and Turning Red, and it was actually a nice change of pace to watch them not knowing anything about them.
@@christiankevin9743 Some teasers still blow things out of proportion though. For example look at the teaser for Avengers Age Of Ultron, it really overhyped the movie, with the biggest problem being that it makes it look like the movie was gonna be dark when it wasn't.
This teaser is executed perfectly! The transition from Luxo Jr. to the boat/hydro train was awesome, so smooth. It didn't spoil the contents of the film, and felt like a really good teaser! So pumped!!
It's actually really interesting to see different reception to this trailer on different platforms. Here, it's all love and appreciation for the art and the detailed animation, the personality shown within the animation, analysis of the trailer, general praise on the fact it's a trailer and not a spoiler. Whereas Twitter has ppl think this is too basic of a plot premise ('forbidden lovers/friends' - although this is just speculation) and missed opportunities for environment design (e.g. they're elements but they just use regular public transport all in one lump) the things about the character and suggested narrative (e.g. this trailer has ppl side-eying ember and she appears to be the only fire character. having a fire character in world of plant + water could create some really interesting conflicts but ppl are speculating it's going to a cliche plot)
I'm getting tired of Pixar. Like yes we get it they can make things very detailed and pretty but their animation is almost always quite slow an boring. And like more than half of their newer movies have the same character style, everything's so rounded, they all look the same.
@@conit4125 Well, it's a different style of storytelling. Most animated studios go for a faster pace. Pixar likes to savor a premise. I personally quite like that "what if" quality, like in Soul, but it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
*Theories ahead* (possibly spoilers?* One of the things I almost immediately noticed was that the fire girl, Ember, seems to be the only fire-type element in the area, I don’t know if this is just a coincidence or to showcase the other elements and make Ember stand out more. At first, I suspected that maybe fire elements might not be as welcome in the area as fire can be quite destructive, but watching the video, you can see that no one is surprised or frightened by her appearance as she boards the train, leading me to believe that this might just be a coincidence. However, there are a few characters on the train that send her quick looks and nearing the end of the teaser, around when Ember reaches the doors, we can see an earth-type mother pulling away her child as Ember passes them, As Ember walks passed everyone on the train, we get to see exactly how the elements air, earth and water all coexist together and how they complement each other's elements, we cannot see this with Ember or any other fire types. it might be possible that the film will showcase discrimination in this way. When ember accidentally drops her headphones, she goes to pick them up but flinches when one of the water droplets from the water boy, Wade, hits her (skin?) (fire hand?) it's possible that there aren't, any fire elements being seen not just because they can be harmful to other elements but also themselves e.g if a wind/air type were to send too much wind towards a fire type and ends up blowing them out, or if a water type splashes to much water that results in an injury to a fire type. This could also open up some theories of conflict that might be shown in the movie, specifically between Ember and Wade, the teaser hints at a potential friendship and/or romantic relationship between these two characters but given their differentiating elements, the main conflict (antagonist) in the film may be the differences that separate them how they navigate their relationship around this conflict. (sorta like zootopia)

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. Right, such a cool concept. A big city but instead of animals they put elements instead. So original. I bet their next film will be about a city but instead of elements, they put feelings.
Might be looking to deep into this movie trailer, but it seems so odd that Ember is the only fire elemental on the train. This is just a theory, but maybe fire elementals are extremely uncommon in this world due to how fire is often seen as destructive? Pretty hype for this movie, can't wait to see it 😂💖
One interesting detail is that you can see the signs around the train that say, "No gusting, leaking, sprouting." That's a warning for wind, a warning for water, and a warning for earth, but no warning for fire. This might mean that the city isn't made for fire elementals, which would likely lead to all the fire being in a different place, separated from the rest.
Maybe it’s kind of like in Avatar: The Last Airbender, where Fire is the one element type that is seen as destructive or having mostly negative effects

I love how this teaser doesnt really show a problem, but it shows a vibe and an introduction of the world and the behavior of the characters.
I think the movie will be about that contrast between fire and water, and how Ember feels like she can't help anyone, in a world where everyone _can_ help each other
I hope they show how fire is a required element in how some plants are able to reproduce seeds.

This doesn’t tell us anything about how the world works. That would imply it shows us what these different people do, how they live there lives, how do they sustain themselves, what are the threats they have to face etc.

Plus the end with our two characters, Wade and Ember, if they do have a romance friendship turn relationship, they are going to be a new favourite ship.

@@joshdavenport6290 i guess we just have to find out when the movie comes🤷
i love the contrast between ember and her music style, as well as what we've seen of her chill personality
fire is often seen as a destructive and negative force, hot-headed and angry; when fire is actually a very helpful and nice thing, as it keeps us warm and provides light, comfort, and a place to prepare food for sustainance, and allows for us to create smoke signals as a sign for other people that theres life nearby
just thought it was pretty neat
Huh. I didn't think of it that way. So she's a controlled, restrained fire?
Water can be viewed in the same way Fire is. It drowns, it destroys, and its much more potent than fire in many ways, so I feel like their gonna make Wade the hot-headed impulsive one instead of Ember

The fact this isn't in the actual film is criminal.
The sneak peek they showed at the d23 panel got me feeling emotional and wanting more. I love the way these characters look

And like more than half of their newer movies have the same character style, everything's so rounded, they all look the same.
well twitter is a dumpster fire of opinions so i wouldn't take anything they say to heart
Man I missed the side eyeing and I was even looking for the little signs of conflict. I don’t know how that even happened, my bad
@@conit4125 Well, it's a different style of storytelling. Most animated studios go for a faster pace. Pixar likes to savor a premise. I personally quite like that "what if" quality, like in Soul, but it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

One of the things I almost immediately noticed was that the fire girl, Ember, seems to be the only fire-type element in the area, I don’t know if this is just a coincidence or to showcase the other elements and make Ember stand out more.
I really hope all of this is in the movie!
This is a really good theory, nice!

Water. Earth. Fire. But I believe Aang can save the world.
why'd you type that all out
I like how that seems to be the opposite of what's going on here, with fire people being somewhat discriminated against.

Might be looking to deep into this movie trailer, but it seems so odd that Ember is the only fire elemental on the train. This is just a theory, but maybe fire elementals are extremely uncommon in this world due to how fire is often seen as destructive? Pretty hype for this movie, can't wait to see it 😂💖
@MrNmassengale1 Omg I saw it and I didn't realize that! Tysm for telling me, that's some pretty good detail in the animation and the world building XD
Just like in Zootopia there are no rabbits in the big city.
