I picked this idea up from a taylor larson video with periphery where he had a room mic in a hall or something and it made the snare sound beefy and lower in pitch.
Just done this with Little AlterBoy on some SD3 prints that I'd routed to have isolated kick and snare room hits. Really adds some middle aged spread to the snare tone (in a good way) and the kick can sit a bit 'fatter' in the mix too.

Cool! Would love to see how this applies to drum samples like GGD and how we can apply to our mixes!!
Was thinking the same thing. I’m gonna try bouncing the room so I can copy it.
I used to use the P4 kit with the Modern & Massive toms. I needed a fourth tom, so I took a second instance of P4 and tuned it down 4 semitones.

Cool idea!
00:24 i've heard Sylvia Massy talk about it in a video, so it might come from her
She also pitches down overheads too to kill some of the high end of the cymbals, it's really nice. She doesn't low pass so heavily there though
@@BrofUJu Pitches down as in a whole octave down ? Or just a couple of semitones ?
Sounds like a very cool trick regardless.
@@djabthrash I think she did like two semi tones. Pretty similar to here. They've still gotta sound like cymbals.
@@BrofUJu Thanks for the extra info !
Nah man, way earlier. Back In Black and eventide, mate.
The only difference between him and Sylvia Massey is she does it with a corkscrew and 9volt battery. 😂
Daaaaaaamn!
Nice!
Can anyone tell me what mouse he is using?is so cool
He's using a pen - it drives you nuts in the beginning :-)
Sick
? ???????
So what he does is copy Sylvia Massey, got it.
Who copied Mutt Lange making one of the biggest rock records of all time. I love Sylvia, but you're pathetic.
Well, he said he got it from somewhere else, he never claimed it was his idea so I don't understand this snotty ass comment.
