Hell no. The stock plastic is a heat magnet. Any peewee who sees a JLT CAI in person can see why there is a power difference. Or simply drive the car & feel the difference. The JLT box diameter alone is huge. Use your Kabasa. The JLT is made from composite, not plastic.

Me and my son put one on his GT500, and I swear it felt slower we took it out and went back to stock and it runs better

That's definitely impressive because 23whp gained is probably like 35-40 at the crank, and it is definitely the most bang for buck upgrade for that gt500

Big time props to the Ford engineers that designed the GT500. The stock air intake looks to be a positive pressure ram air design feeding cold air from the front bumper area. The JLT open air box design diminishes the positive pressure.ram air effect. This wouldn't show up on a dyno test. Testing on the dyno isn't representative of real horsepower effects given the vehicle is stationary with just a small fan blowing on it 10 feet away. Statically, just popping the lid off the stock air box would likely have given similar results.

2lbs is marginal, intake provides more airflow on the top end so that’s why you only see noticeable gains on the HP
