    When I reported it, it was known. I wasn’t the only one, and the carer witnessed it. A blind woman and son bullying her mercilessly! No one stops it once it’s reported. That needs to change.

      Why nothing is done: son gets in trouble. Blames mom and leaves or gets prosecuted. Mom has no one to care of her, or she gets some third worlder working 90 hours a week @ $7.25 an hour to "care" for her. She still gets abused and maybe bankrupted by financial abuse. Or she goes to nursing home and loses everything, then she still gets abused.

    A good video. I don't live in Ireland but grew up there. Elderly abuse happens all over the world. This video made well brings it home to you and gives the red flags where care and training is necessary. Thia abuse can happen in care homes and rehabilitation centres. Also on the streets. Care givers are heavily burdened due to the all around clock care they give. Help them as some care givers start at a very young age, even school going youth. The youth are often approached with a parental attitude and are seldom praised for the good work they do at home. 'How do you help at home?' should be a topic at school.

      This has nothing to do with being heavily burdened if you can't handle it you don't deserve the job. People with a mentality like that deserve nothing in life. Elder abuse is ignored like child abuse. What should be common sense some make it stupidity. There is no excuse for abuse.

      @@tanyasmith7123there's no excuse for abuse. However, the reality is that caregivers themselves often make sub survival wages, work until exhaustion and have their own problems. It is very difficult to attract quality employees under these conditions. It's an industry that desperately needs to be subsidized and regulated.
      Compensating family members would help.
      Increased surveillance, and auditing will keep as well.

    Recommend this video to your friends and family....very important information.
    Not all carers intend to be abusive......It is often unintentional.
    Reach out for help.

    I'm looking for an assisted living apartment. A lot says they will weigh you every day and one said they won't allow food hoarding aka any snacks or not approved snacks. I'm 80 and dont care so much about my health any more, just want to be happy and live as I want. So what if I die tomorrow.

    I’m disillusioned with the quality of service from the health service after a recent experience I’ve had with a community nurse instead of helping and giving the service that I was expecting I was left extremely upset and traumatised fearful that i hope that I will never again need any of their services I was eleft traumatic and very upset during and after the visit he called himself a community nurse he had no people skills no respect for me as a human being his focus was on quickly completing a form and he had no respect for me in any way

    When the caregiver is old also and can't cope anymore , it is time for another person to help with the care load. There are disability waivers available in all states for old couples..

    • @jennawalden8547
      @jennawalden8547 Месяц назад

      This is true and even if the couple have children they are not always willing or able to help out. This will sound harsh, but we don’t bring children into the world to look after us on a regular basis when we become unable to care for ourselves. I’m 58 and certainly want my children to have their own lives and careers. I certainly would not expect them to put their lives on hold because of me.

      I’m sorry that happened to you. The same thing happened to my Dad. The social worker just did a tick box exercise. She was rude , no empathy or compassion. Shouldn’t have been in the job. My Dad too was extremely upset 😢

    It is great and all even a child knows to recognize abuse . Yet the law enforcement and Aps , are agencies who are there to warm their seat . No body gives a damn .

    Sean needs to realize that him pulling the wool over Lily's eyes by signing that stupid contract from that house estate and hiring someone that is sexually attracted to her is a criminal act! Sean should NEVER use Lily to sign something without approval or hire a carer that is a sexual offender. And #2, Mary should've never been hot under the collar at Grainne or violently smacked her wrist like that all because she has trouble consuming her meal! Mary should've sat down with her to help her out and none of this would happen.
