Great straight to the point, and funny video! Would love to see more “out in the wild” kind of videos like these :D
hello fellow ant youtuber
Hey AntSauce, Miles here! Have you ever confused insects with blacklights?
Wow, thanks Myles!
#idontknowifiwanttohandleher
Quite an insect biodiversity got attracted to that blacklight - Also a very handy way to attract Queen Ants!

So happy you enjoyed it!
Interesting, thanks
Awesome video !!! I do black lighting very often, I use 100watt flood light, up to around 1400 lumens , I bring in ants from around my neighborhood!!
The tawny red form of Chrysina. (Plusiotis) gloriosa is very rare and a real prize! They are known from the Davis Mountains of Texas and are associated with junipers.
You pointed out the ants in the beginning of the video.....but where's the uncles?
Hey miles I love your videos, could you please do a video on how to hibernate ants be that would help alot
this was s good watch while high
Last video someone wondered was Miles feeling hungry making the last video
I think this time he WAS hungry making this
This Is so Cool!!!
More vids!
This is awsome
What set up would you recommend to someone wanting to try black lighting for the first time?
Does this work if you don't use a white sheet found nowhere else on Earth you don't have any white sheets
What time of year is best to do this?
So, any fluorescent black light works or does led uvb, work too?
Unfortunately I haven't done any blacklighting or light traping for nocturnal insects yet. I live in Greece, so the diversity of moths and of the rest insect species is not very big. However, I really wanna test this out ! I am just worried about one thing... Are black lights dangerous for the human body or the human eyes ? Please I would appreciate your advice
Is uv light and black light same?
CAPT HOOK FTW. Love the vid!

I know this video is kind of old, but I have to ask what part of arizona was this? I live in the phoenix metro, and would love to see this kind of diversity.
This was filmed in southeastern Arizona -- in the sky islands mountains.
@@TheAntNetwork sounds like a need to take another trip to the Santa Rita mountains, been meaning to go to Madera again anyways.
India has very dark nights I heard
How did the Chrysina taste?
Probably Glorious
You know it ;)
Where is arizona were you?
We were in the Chiricahua Mountains.
@@TheAntNetwork Thought you were in the Chiricahuas; it's one of the few places that you can find Chrysina gloriosa. Nice mantispid on your sheet, too. Did you stay at the SWRS?
No, but we spent a lot of time near the station!
Do you need a blacklight for this? Would it not also work with just a normal light?
While standard lights do attract insects, UV lights are dramatically more effective.
