I had been thinking of a world somewhat based on the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen where characters of Victorian literature live in a steampunk London. In this world the story of 'Dracula' (ostensibly written by Mina Harker) is government propaganda- and vampires are a persecuted minority that sees the now dead Count as a hero. Mina herself may end up in trouble for being (maybe) romantically involved with lesbian vampire Lucy Westenra- who is now part of the vampire underground resistance. In a cruel twist of fate, the British Empire will have to rely on the "monsters" it despises (both the Extraordinary Gentlemen themselves and the vampires) to survive the Martian invasion of Earth (the War of the Worlds). How will Martian super-technology and vampiric sorcery adapt to fight each other?
Why haven’t we seen that many live action stories of steampunk?
