    In this free tutorial Marie Spaulding shows you how to make a scarf with wet felting. What makes it extra good for beginners, is the layout is easy and does not take a long time. The layout process goes fast because we are using prefelt! Oh you will love how this handmade felted scarf feels around your neck and you will love how warm it keeps you! You can make yours long or short -- and you can use the techniques shared in this "roll and scroll" method on other scarves like our cobweb scarf, a nuno felt scarf or scarf created by the traditional method of shingling.

      I’d assume you could, if you’re fusing them together the way she fused her two long pieces ((opening the ends up and laying them on top of each other))

    I have considered getting silk for nuno felting a scarf, but I don't know what the differences are between the types: pongee, gauze, habotai, and gauges. What are the differences between them, and how do those differences show up in the final product? What should I consider in fabric choice when making a ruffle on the edge? Does one type of silk fabric work better for a complete coverage with wool versus having wool with medium to large spaces between? There's at least one Wooly Wednesday's worth of questions!

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Tammi, we have shared a few nuno felt videos to show how the fabrics look, but the best teacher is experience. Pongee and habotai are the same thing -- because it is more dense, the fibers have more of a challenge migrating through -- this lends to the gorgous puckering aka rouching. Ruffles can be done with any of the fabrics. If you want large spaces open, you can do it with all except the rarified margilan as it is too delicate. Get a few types and play!

  • @lauralynneparker
    @lauralynneparker 9 месяцев назад +2

    I have had issues with my prefelt getting firm before it’s migrated through silk and yarns so I think I may be too aggressive/rushing things.

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, best to slow it down, use room temp water and gentle agitation until the fibers start to migrate and materials begin to bind.

    I might have been skipping ahead too much, but I didn’t see you use your wooden dowel- is it just used the same way as the pool noodle was earlier?
