- During my visits at Goodwood FOS I recorded this lovely little F1 car with a V12 engine!
The Honda RA272 was a Formula One racing car used by the Honda team in the 1965 Formula One season.
A successor to the Honda RA271, the RA272 was noticeable mainly for its technically advanced (though rather wide and heavy) 48-valve 1,495.28 cc V12 engine (58.1 x 47.0 mm), a water-cooled, transversely mounted unit which reportedly gave 230 bhp (170 kW) at 13,000 rpm.[1] The engine was safe to 14,000 rpm, which was unusually high for a 1960s engine design. The Honda V12 had staggering acceleration and often led the race into the opening lap after leaving the stationary starting grid. It led the 1965 Mexican Grand Prixfrom start to finish, driven by Richie Ginther, making it the first Japanese car to win a Formula One Grand Prix.

The amount of noise that Honda produces compared to the size of the engine is crazy. Seriously 😳 a 1.5l V-12 that revs up to 11,000rpm in 1965 isn't crazy enough so let's put it in a 60's f1 car mounted transversely mated to a 6 speed transmission.
いい音ですね。その場にいたら、涙止まらないでしょうね❗
1500cc12気筒!本田ってやっぱ凄い!
What an angry sounding car!
Magnifique
Prachtige wagen en sound! Gelukkig dat hij niet volledig vlam vatte
And it's probably faster than the McLaren-Honda of the last few years!
AndreiTupolev 8 mamual transmission
Honda's engine is more powerful than Renault's two years later after McLaren gave up on them and blamed them for their performance.

Bit better sounding than in gt7.
かっこいいな!憧れる。
This sounds like its over revved and way out of its power band.. looks to be going very slow for all the dramatic noises the poor engine is making. Tho I'm sure if i was the driver, it would feel like a Go-Kart and I'd be revving it to the limiter myself. Having a blast the whole time doing it!
I drive a 89 b16 crx, 16v dohc vtec.Only 1600cc n makes 162hp, red lines at 8,600. Watching this I appreciate the evolution Honda engineering. OHC, Twin cams, Sequential Fuel Injection, VTEC, all Aluminum casting, precision balancing and superior weight management produced some of the most fun to drive cars of all time.
Amen to that, from a fellow old Honda owner.
The RA271 makes peak power of 260bhp @ 13000 rpm and can safely go up to 14000 rpm and weighs 1100 lbs with a 6 speed manual. It's fast for a 1963 tube.
The RA272's engine hates being below 7000rpm, around 7000-13000RPM is the powerband for it
