Relatively timely information, lots of incredible knowledge condensed into the presentation. Remarkable. Thank you. I am a model builder and am in the middle of a spat of WWII ship builds. I came across the ABSD-1 model manufactured by Takom in 1/350 scale, same scale I work with ships in, and of course, Advanced Modeler Syndrome (AMS) kicked in immediately due to the obscure nature of the subject. No out of the box build here. I also am planning a trip to the National Archives in College Park to do some research and view the blueprints so again, thanks for the advance work up laying the groundwork for my visit. There are several models, mostly in 1/700 scale - due to the size of the subject, originally all photoetch metal but several plastic kits were recently released in the last few years and of course, the Takom 1/350 kit in plastic (mostly) last year. The kit and base will measure about 12" x 24" when complete. Keep it up, love the video and looking forward to hearing more.
ABSD-4 was stationed in Seeadler Harbor along with ABSD-2. It was sunk as an artificial reef near there at (-2.0434635630154294, 147.40693952289018) . It can be seen on Google earth.
ABSD-3 is still fully intact at the Viktor Lenac yard in Croatia after it was released from Bath Iron Works. Andy, thank you so much for the video.
