Update: just to let you all know, it seems as though the handling may have already been improved from how it was during early access, the general consensus seems to be that it's actually decent and potentially a step up from F1 23 :)

I agree the bare minimum is that all the tracks are updated to their modern irl versions, some tracks have been outdated for years now. It seems that them saying they’ve updated “fan favourite circuits” is them just saying they can’t be arsed doing them all
"can't be arsed" , you really think it boils down to laziness? No, the updating of "fan favoruite circuits" is clearly a PR narrative (an excuse) for saving money on dev team size and for achieving the yearly roll out deadline (high frequency sales) to milk eager hopeful people of their money.
They're also too worried of leaving a big gap, in-between shiny new titles, as it may make people get bored, and then they could get accustomed to other driving games, or just anything else.
When sales begin to fall and people are less inclined to fall for the (barely) new yearly titles, then they'll put more money and time into a better new title.
Big companies and shareholders will prey on psychology to maximise you handing over money, until that psychology wears thin, then they have no choice but to wait longer between new releases (more development time) and thus their sales frequency goes down, but they have no choice if the yearly barely new titles wears thin on people and their sales begin to drop.

Honestly, just joking about how bad the coaches were and then joking around with them for 10 minutes made it a decent feature, like it didn't ruin the game while the clothing stuff is tacky. I actually liked it looking back, just cause it was so stupid.

I've tested it, it's not bad actually.
The engine sounds weird but I can drive pretty decently, compared to how every other RUclips report drives all over the place. You can really notice the odd engine sound via the flashback mode, rewinding your driving. It's actually quite hard for me to recognise the mid area of the gears so I could up a gear early.
The graphics actually don't look quite right. It looks similar to the f1 manager 22 game. A polish is needed.
A part from that it's nice so far. You can choose your favourite in F1 world and contribute with other players.

I am a controller player and honestly I find this experience much better than on the earlier game from last year. For casuals and professionals slightly easier controller side of things is really nice and it’s definitely wanting me to play this game more. For reference, I use 45 linearity and 45 steering deadzone for Xbox 1 controller in my pc. It still feels sensitive, but it’s not crazy if you know how to ease things. It feels lighter but you definitely feel the understeer more as your tires wear down, not to mention for people who are spinning out F1 cars do not have stability control the older F1 game seem to have too much power for. For the most part and focus on changing the wheel side of gameplay. I just hope people will start criticising the game too early and actually give some time and patience to evolve in what could be a change for the handling in the future.

As for the price I paid for it because I want to support Formula One as a community! That is why I paid for it not for the quality of the game.

I just briefly tried F1 24 for the first time using the standard car setup presets (no tweaking yet), and im on a TS-XW wheel.
I honestly think that the handling is a huge improvement. I don’t really understand the criticism. The car feels more alive and less planted on “invisible rails”. The low speed corner mechanical grip (with less downforce contribution) makes sense and feels convincing. It enables you to rotate the car with the throttle if some more rotation is needed, which was not possible in previous games. Moreover, it is now possible to save the car from a spin because you feel and hear the slippage earlier. I seriously like what I see so far.

Been playing it on and off for most of the night. I like it,don’t know what all the handling fuss was about unless they changed it because I think it’s brilliant, I’m only a casual gamer so only using controller but I think they handle brilliantly. Liking the career mode playing as Schumacher and started another one as leclerc. So far I’m really enjoying it.
One thing I wish ea would do is make a mode that is like fifa ultimate team where you can open packs and get drivers from now and from back then and you could also get teams from the pack.

I don't think I'll be getting F1 24, not until the handling gets a bit better, but i think it's still a bit worth it.
um did you forgot about the ERS change, it quite a big one, you have to be strategic about hwo yo use it and you have in game GOALS, thats too a pretty good feature, overal it nice to sea carreerr mode getting revamped, but if you dont do career, its almost the same

I bought it on cd keys, have done first 3 races and honestly i am not feeling any of the awkwardness in the handling that you mentioned? Im not the best in the world but I only play with the wheel and no assists, braking felt a little more sensitive for about 15 minutes but its honestly fine to me

I actually think the handling is quite good, there are weird moments with the back end of the the car but would say it definitely feels more real when following a car through high speed corners

The handling definitely feels wobbly and takes some time to get used to but I personally found myself having way more fun in close car racing than in f1 23 so if they keep improving their model the game could actually be not that bad

I haven’t played since 2020, and I want to get back in with the different cars, thanks for the warning, I will just buy 23.
It's concerning that EA sells this game which just an big update to the previous game at the same rate/cost as a whole new game (GTA, AC) which was developed from scratch.
EA has taught me to wait and see if they can fix their never ready for release game model. The price goes down, the fix some of the issues, and then I can decide to purchase. The audio is what you would get from a $9.99 early access game.

Anyway seeing that the game devs are split into two teams (My team in odd years and career mode in even years) you should compare this to the 2022 gane and not lastbyear game (feature speaking)
I'm enjoying the game. The only ones that seem to have a problem are "Sim racers". Which doesn't surprise me. Most hardcore games always complain about games saying it's never good enough. Also you don't have to buy the most expensive version people. You can wait or just buy the standard. The standard price is no different than anyother new game since the 90s
With this years game its almost like you can sense the speed and grip more. So far I like it but ofc its not perfect.
I am completely new to the F1 games and have found the game to be pretty fun. All I have driven so far are F2 cars and I have been have a blast with that. I have a G920 and that's it so pretty budget set up and I also don't have a high bar for what the game should have been so that might be it . I also pre-ordered it so this might be copium.
If you’ve never played an F1 game before it should be fun as the main problems are just lack of new features compared to old games so enjoy :)

Driver career mode is way to lure grand prix mode players like beatdown racing

Im playing on controller aswell and the handling is perfect. The only problem is people with wheels are 2 sec faster then controller this year. So its not worth doing any ranked anymore

Been playing the game for 4 hours now. Still enjoying it. Got lando his first WDC 😊
Is it just me or is the balance of the ai from track to track even worse now? In Bahrain I struggle to compete with 86 AI and in Saudi Arabia I easily get Pole at 95 💀💀
But in my opinion, the new handling is overhated.
The only negative point are the very slow & sharp 130 degree corners like the one in Bahrain or China. (I drive with full traction control so for me it‘s okay)
Good things:
- The AI is wayy more aggressive and more intelligent than before.
- All the new things in career mode
- more realistic qualifying (nearly every quali a driver from a top team is out in q1 or q2 and bad drivers like Zhou or Albon regularly going P7-9 and really score points)
+if the sector you drove is slower than your best sector in the lap before it is now yellow and not red anymore (just a small Upgrade but i love it)
For the handling in a short reason:
Controller= bad 👎
Wheel= Very nice 👍
I enjoy the handling after you slap a setup on it

This is what happens when EA gets involved. Not surprised. And I’m not even referring to the handling. I’m referring to the “bare minimum”. If EA had owned Codemasters from the first F1 game, the series would have never seen anything remotely similar to the current difficulty scale. The games would still be stuck in easy/medium/hard.

Trying it with the ea play 5h trial rn handling feels better than testing and its been pretty good but the AI is definitely harder this year
Career mode is exactly the same. Few track improvements, handling is more sensitive. Even after full realease, the customization packages are minimal. If you got da money and you are a online person, do it. If you are a casual career mode person, wait!!!!

The one major upside to no driver changes from last year is that F1 23 is still accurate. Granted there’s no Stake or VCARB but that’s an even better reason to stay on last year’s game.
This is exactly what I’m thinking about. Same drivers in the same teams, same race tracks so no need to buy this shit
The bigger problem is the performance of the cars. Stake should be dead last in the R&D but they're somehow in the top 10

Lando was gushing about how the handling-changes are impressive, but yea, he was promoting the game, so... - As a principled casual, I will probably never buy an EA Sports game, including WRC. - Codemasters is dead to me, especially if EA is pushing them to keep making annual releases, which results in these brokenass games like Madden and FIFA. - There should be a Formula 1 game every four to five years. They could still change the line-up as an update or something. - But yea, that's not EA's business. It's to sell a title each year like it's necessary and sports-fans will eat it up, even if they complain.

Things I hate are players with pads/controllers playing against people with actual driving wheels. Of course the pads are faster it’s easy to move fingers. They should separate the two.
Still no PSVR like GT7.
Also the stupid racing line should be allowed to be turned off like in versions in the past.
