    When it comes to States and legal colors for safety lighting, we suggest contacting your States DOT Office.

    I never understood why Towing companies don't spec their lightbars with front facing Takedowns and Alleys more often. With all the service calls that they go on front and side scene lighting is just as important as rear scene lighting. Very nice set up.

    You can use colors other than amber in many different states.
    Texas just for 1 example, ANY vehicle creating a road hazard can use blue lights.

    • @andrewm1058
      @andrewm1058 9 лет назад +2

      Were Not Equal here in Nebraska any utility vehicle can run blue lights, so many of the security companies have blue/amber light bars

      +Were Not Equal in N.C. you better not get caught with anything but amber on your tow truck. Us in Fire And Ems can run red and white all the way around but cops are only ones capable of running blue

      +cody ledford crazy how different state laws are ehh. like, selling Marijuana in Colorado makes you a business man. selling Marijuana in Texas lands you in prison for a very long time.

    • @rascalpup5237

      +cody ledford kinda funny, In NJ its opposite. We can have blue/clear/amber for fire/EMS POV's, and police have Red. Just goes to show how our government can't agree on most things, even if they are trivial lol

    • @znovosad555
      @znovosad555 7 лет назад +2

      It honestly just needs to be universal all over the country. Because then traveling state to state it's confusing. Just like there should be an NFPA standard regarding fire dept helmet colors and meanings/rank for each color.

    in New Mexico they cant use red facing forward, but they can have any other colors, facing any direction except red facing forward

    In Oregon State we call tow trucks, wreckers, wheel lifts, flatbeds, rollbacks, heavy rescues and rotators "Tow Vehicle". More to the point, Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 816.280 describes the legal colors of emergency lights that a "Tow Vehicle" may use, in any combination the owner desires. Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 801.530 defines what is legally considered a "Tow Vehicle" by the state. As the law is written, a pickup truck, fully equipped with Emergency Roadside Service Equipment (jack, fuel can, lockout kit, jumpstart), with company markings can have Red or Amber lights. As the law is written, a fully marked service truck has the same legal rights to these colors as a "Proper" tow truck, under ORS 801.530
    Now I believe Stuart has shown 2 of Anderson's trucks. Both were amazing and well lit.
    Stuart, do you plan on showcasing anymore tow trucks? We know about 90% of your business is with police or EMS. But we buy lots of your equipment too!

  • @charlie_nolan
    @charlie_nolan 2 года назад +1

    Wait so are red lights legal on tow trucks? I thought amber, green, and white were the only legal lights for non-first responder vehicles. However a few days ago I saw a tow truck with red strobes, I assumed it wasn’t legal
    Edit: after checking Michigan law I see tow trucks can have red lights

    • @SIRENNET
      @SIRENNET  2 года назад +1

      The lawfully allowed colors vary from state to state. Oregon allows Amber as well as Red. We have some customers that have mentioned seeing Blue used on tow trucks in Texas. Thanks for watching :)

      In the states that allow red or red and blue, it’s because when performing emergency roadside assistance they are considered emergency vehicles and in my state (Missouri)when doing so they are allowed red and blue lights and a siren.

  • @dasarge84
    @dasarge84 3 года назад +1

    tow trucks often have overkill light setups due to the fact they spend extencive time in areas ware they need to be seen and often on the side of the road more often then most other emergancy vehicles amber doesent often have the same punch as colors like red and blue do so tow trucks need much more to be noticed not to mention the morons out there on the roads personally i think a well rounded lighting setup such as this (behind that wrecker boom the TA is pretty much useless) key placement of lighting is essential but enouph lighting is also essential its pretty common to see tow trucks with just a partially populated lightbar and thats it every one ive done has fully populated bars as well as an assortment of light heads to make the trucks profile stand out (thats the reasoning behind all them lights kids these arent no cop car ware most lights need to hide) always check with local laws and law enforcement to get the colors and permitted lighting requirements here in canada its only white and amber (amber to rear only)

      +BoscoVapes I would start out as a road side assistance company. Get a smaller vehicle such as a small SUV or pick up (i.e. Ford Escape or Chevy Colorado). Your expenses will be much cheaper and you will be able to create a customer base. You might also be able to establish contracts that could help you out when you expand into towing. Having an already established company will also help with the banks and give you more financing options when you go and buy a wrecker.
