I love the array of colors in your notebook stack. I choose to use this method of planning for next year, and bought a notebook in every pastel color at the back to school sales this year. I’ve been using journals that are now being discontinued. ☹️ I was afraid I’d have to go with some expensive ones. I saw what you have and immediately went to WM. So excited because my current journal will be filled as of Sept. 1 and I’ve been looking for my next one. Sorry this is so rambling. I get that way when I get excited about something. Love this! I too love to be on the frugal side. Although I do have Happy Planners as well as notebooks but I lean more towards planning on the frugal and more functional side.
I absolutely love the idea of frugal planning. My planning system has been notebook form for awhile now...my auxiliary brain, if you will. I love being able to set them up in a way that helps my memory issue + menobrain, be able to function. Being able to beautify the notebook is a plus. I just subscribed, I so like your style. I have been a journal fan for about 50 years. I have used spiral bound note books a great deal. Also binders with rings. It is all good. The bottom line is to have a place to plan and dream and reminisce. Thank you for sharing!

I really like your channel. You have great tips. I love all things paper, pens and stickers. For those thin papers, I put a piece of cardstock (that I recycled from the back of and old notebook) and I stick it behind the sheet that I am working with, so if the pages bleed it helps the next page look clean. Welcome, April! Nice intro! The algorithm put up your video and it immediately resonated. Before the planning community was this expansive, I tried various work planners (Franklin Covey, etc... yeah, I'm old 😉) and nothing was quite right. Plus, they were expensive and I paid for them myself so they would be mine (technically, if your employer pays for it, it is theirs). Frustrated, I grabbed a spiral notebook for cheap one day, drew some lines to give me the layout I wanted, and never looked back. In fact, as the years went by I noticed more and more of my colleagues doing the same thing. Looking forward to seeing your layouts.

Hello April, this is good for those of us new to planning and like myself retired and working within a strict budget. I am a list writer but have never got into the whole planner thing because I don't know where to start, how to make it help me and need to work within my means. I'm recovering from a stroke so many things I took for granted are more difficult but I need to learn new ways of ma aging myself my life and my home to preserve my sanity. A friend got me a box of composition note books that come in different colors. I believe at Sam's club. They come in a box of about five with different colors. You may like them because you can use a different color for each planner. They come in a box you can keep them stored in as well. And they aren't expensive. Thought I'd share that in case that might be something useful for you or your viewers.
To me A4 is the perfect size and I hate lined paper. I look for high quality faint dotted notebooks so that there is no bleed ensuring I can use both sides. As a sketchnoter slash bullet journal person this is a non negotiable. Still expensive to some (my current book is 375 pages at approx $30) but the trade off for me is I get to format the layout and keep refining and iterating to find my sweet spot.

I love the covers of some of these notebooks, but I must say I prefer Japanese notebooks because the paper is superior to American paper (which is, no doubt, made in China!). I also love Claire Fontaine, which is French.
It just depends on what I want to plan out. My garden planner is 8x10 but my work planner is 6x9. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing layouts and ideas in all of these spiral notebooks. For concerns with bleed to the next page, have cardstock or just copy paper behind the page you’re working on as a blotter.
