what would you put in yours?
Why, food of course! ;D
Cornish pasties!
I use mine for my daily everything at school. I pull out the wire divider to fit my laptop and pack my much and everything else around it.
Why, whiskey and beer of course!
A rubber doll and it’s whole family!
As one who used one daily since I was old enough to carry one around 6 years old I believe . Going with dad on daily fishing trips but it was not a Stanley it was a Roy Rodgers box did not get a Stanley until later and then it was of to school and now at 77 it brings back good memories thanks . Happy Trails
👍
Back in the day remember Roy Rogers scouting troop?
Damn. It's 2021 and I'm looking for a old school lunch box. Your video popped up in the search first. I'm buying this. Not only because it looks awesome but because the way you said, " You pull this out you gonna be king of the lunch room". Great video, thanks for the info. Cheers!
awesome
I’ve got one, they’re great, my work colleagues always comment - but its practicality knows no bounds.
Love your enthusiasm for well made kit!
Thanks so much!
Costco sold these years ago. You're right they're iconic but have two huge faults. First the flasks are know to leek, not a good thing considering you store it on its side. The 2nd huge problem is the box itself is metal and on a hot day it acts like an oven.
Another problem with those hot days, the box itself isn’t sealed. So flys find their way in especially through where the handle is. Trying to find a solution because it really is a nice box. As far as the heat itself, an igloo ice block fits in pretty well to combat that problem
Also got one, it has got a few dents.
But i don’t care I think it looks better that way, it shows character.
Just ordered one! Looking forward to using this beastly box!
awesome
I’ve got same , one particular Stanley bottle I have fits well and holds a quart. People notice , metal boxes are rare.Enjoy.
Pros:
1) iconic
2) It’s huge and metal
3) multi purpose use for other stuff than as a lunch box as he mentioned
4) If you want your food hot, place it in the sun & treat it like an oven
5) If you want to keep your drinks & food cold on a cool or cold season leave your lunch box outside in the shade
6) Use as a weapon
Cons:
1) No insulation to prevent food from spoiling faster
2) Bad when it’s hot which will make your food spoil faster or hot like an oven & to the touch, also toxin to the food from the metal & paint
3) dent and rust
4) it’s not weather conditions proof
5) limited on what food containers can fit inside
6) if you don’t have a flask or drinks in the top lid which I wouldn’t put in there due to leakage, waste of space unless you can find round tops, etc plastic bags…
4) Can’t put ice or it’ll rust
5) not stainless steel
6) not quiet with the metal sound; terrible to carry on you during a state of an emergency and in hiding
7) Can’t store other things on top
I prefer the insulated lunchbox and flexible storage it can expand and protect the food. Also treat it as a cooler if needed by adding ice or ice pack or leave it in a cold place or temperature. It also protect food a little longer than placing it in a metal box in the vehicle. And it’s quieter. No one will know you have food or present.
If I were to buy metal box, I prefer it to be a square shape and flat at the top. So then I can store other stuff on top. No space is wasted. I’ll use it for storage not for food.
isn't SPCD stainless steel, stainless steel?
@@CB19087 Oh yes, sorry I just realized it is. Even if it’s stainless steel like all the stainless steel drinking bottles you’ll build up black mold overtime and will have to fill white vinegar overnight to rid of it.
I like the old school look of it
me too
the 1 litre food flask (not the 1 litre drink flask) also fits well.
thanks for the info
You're totally bonkers, man. I love that lunchbox.
This man can sell a lunch box.
lunch box power
Good strong looking dinner box ! Brew kit, fire kit, water, first aid and shit kit, ! That’s my call brother! Nice job Dave hope your well my mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Just got mine. Thanks mate.
Great 👍
Just ordered one...I have no idea how I managed without it.
Awesome
Is this the lunchbox the men sitting on that girder in that iconic photo used?
I doubt it
Can we use as a cook food in it ??? after all it a metal box
I think the paint would be toxic
@@verysurvival o yes
I love mine, and use it everyday
If they made this insulated it would be the perfect lunchbox
ace
Those clasps need an hole to put a padlock through, to prevent a mate stealing your sandwich. Lol
I wish there was one fitted . A small thing that would be very useful
Can i ask what size that one was as im not sure which one to get
I’m not sure
I thought there was only one size
That’s the 10 qt one.
They're nostalgic but nothing beats an insulated box. What the hay it's the twentieth century.
nostalgiaa for the win!!!!
its the 21st century....
Nothing in my lunch’s need to be kept cold or warm. Room temp for everything except coffee
Like the great and I mean great author, Carson McCuullers, carried her Sunny Boy cocktail, brandy and hot tea.
sounds great to me
love it!!
Can it keep hot.how many hours
It doesn’t keep things hot
I always wanted to be King.....
What size was that thermo??
0.75 l
Thank you
I feel life would be easier if it was just an inch or 2 wider. Had mine for a couple years now and some containers are a bit tricky
What is it with you yanks...you are not meant to put another container inside it!!! You put your sandwiches STRAIGHT IN THE BOX!!
Did you get the large or the small one?
@@dolam I got the 10 qt. It's the bigger one with 2 latches
@@zachknisley9539 Thanks!
Where is it made?
China
@@verysurvival You mean 'Chiner'? 😆
Those old lunch boxes aren’t insulated I prefer the ones that are insulated and u can use a ice pack
How many quarts???
whats a quart?
@@verysurvival Measurement in fluids
how many quarts in a liter?
@@verysurvival lol 😂
This is 5.5 I believe. They also make a 10
You guys drink whiskey and beer for lunch? I'm in.
Only If we have some left over from breakfast
Was that the 5qt or the 10qt?
25 0z
Far too expensive for what it is!! you may think it's cool but it's not as cool as a modified bread bin!! couple of rivets hinges a handle and a coathanger and you got yourself a real chuckbox.
This lunch box just screams 1950's blue collar toxic masculinity. I love it. I bet my grandfather, the road construction foreman, used one. I bet my other grandfather, the logger turned grader operator, used one as well. You know, when men were men and did real jobs, of real benefit to humanity, not effete, milquetoast social media managers or post-modern critical navel-gazing theory consultants 😏😏😏
When real men stayed with the family & raised their kids not leave or abort their children to run away from responsibility. What we have now are fatherless men from broken family in the world. Everything is out of God’s order.
No such thing as toxic masculinity my guy.
@@crispyyyyy627 I'm a female. Not toxic masculinity but broken and hurting men needs healing.
@@gingerproject888network6 But there’s no such thing anyway. Yah there’s men running away from responsibility
I know, I know, folks...just being cheeky.
Update: just ordered one of these online and had it delivered last Friday. It's fantastic...the only downside is that it's manufactured in the Land of China, but ya can't win 'em all, I guess.
But it’s not insulated
Amazon....£40
buy it
too expensive
