When you think you've found a deck you think you like, and you don't exactly want to just drop the money immediately for it, I recommend practicing the deck in an online version first :)
Protect the castle is also a deck strategy for people ;)

Aqua Chicken Like Bujins... That was a fun deck to play until Kaiser Colosseum got banned. But I guess I wouldn't have realised that I liked Stun/Combo strategies if it wasn't banned.
Also testing out a deck online before you buy it is a great piece of advice. I'm glad you mentioned it.

If you can't remember combo's literally just write them down step by step and memorize it. You gotta study for all kinds of things so why not study these combo's you find hard to manage. Then just play through them slowly and develop muscle memory and even say what you're doingo outloud. All good tips to get the combo's compartmentalized.

    • @jiroweiler5883

Ive found that when trying to learn a combo or a combo deck, the best thing is to play with a friend and play like the Anime (not THAT dramatic), explaining outloud everything you do.
It has helped me a few times where i was about to do a misplay and by explaining it to my friend during the game, i myself realized i was about to misplay.

Combo-Decks and OTK-Decks aren't neccessarily the same. Sure, an uninterrupted Gouki-Board kills you with ease, but OTK-Decks often are less combo-heavy and get to the point faster. Hieratics for example (in their prime) killed you just by using roughly 5 cards of their deck. A similar thing can be seen on the upcoming Palladion Archetype that comes out in Cybernetic Horizon.

I love my Blue-eyes/Red-Eyes dragon. All my friends said it would never work and it's going to be unbalanced.. but once they faced it, they said they were wrong. You just have the right cards. And once I learn, if I learn, pendulums and links it could be regional competitive potential.

A deck I love to play is Synchrons which are the first archetype I ever used. It was in my first starter deck which was Duelist Toolbox. My current version of the deck includes cards from it. I love playing Toons! I love to attack at will without any worry of what you might have on the back or how many monsters you might have. The challenge is protecting toon kingdom. But, I do have a nice strategy going to do just that! Toons are heavy hitters and hard to break if you play the deck right. However, you cannot just play straight toons. You have to combine them with some type of support. For example, I play kaiju's and man!!! They are scary when you combine them with toons! Plus super fun to play.

I also have an otk capable blue eyes (chaos and chaos max) deck that's really fun and easy. The deck I play is Dark Magicians, not because it’s Yugi’s card, Dark Magician was one of the first cards I ever got so there is a bit of sentiment there. Also, my deck build feels like the right amount of Aggression and Control that it feels like I’m never lacking in either, and I always just feel confident in my cards. I can’t really explain it. I just always feel confident in my playstyle.

Lair Infernoid has been my go to & favorite deck since Lair structure released 😁 Does not rely on extra deck to break boards and controls the board to your favor in a grind game. Milling your deck to the last 1-3 cards feels great after resolving reasoning or monster gate

My favourite deck right now is the 'Noids! I always get so unlucky with my reasoning and monster gate mills though, to the point I cut monster gate b/c it wasn't worth tributing for cost. I've been testing out Power Wall which is a slow-paced card for mills (being a trap) but its been really good against aggro decks that try to kill you in only one or two attacks (ancient gears, blue eyes, dinos, cyber dragons etc) and works well when unexpected.

I would also like to point out that you can play on online sims using deck profiles other more experienced players have made to experiment with what sort of deck you want to build first. I played several weeks of different decks for some fun local play, like Dark Magician and Volcanics, but I settled on Demise and Ruin since the deck is relatively cheap, it's got an awesome theme where it feels like I'm raining down some serious hurt, like it's actually Armageddon and Oblivion, and in general it has a simple goal and a consistent way to get there. It's what I was looking for, and I found it. It probably appealed to me due to my favorite card in Duel Masters being Ballom, Master of Death that has a very similar field nuke effect. And after playing it a bit I have made my own changes to the original deck I started with so it started feeling like it was really my own deck.

    • @seancop8686
      @seancop8686 6 лет назад +1

I built this deck a little while back. My advice would be try to find draw power that fits into the deck for consistency (like Allure of Darkness) because ritual decks tend to brick more. Also, try to balance the light and dark monster counts, as well as monsters and starter cards like your searchers and special summons. I found I was playing too many copies of the small BLS cards (like evening knight for instance) at first and would brick with multiple copies of just one of them in my hand because they're only useful when used for a ritual summon or when discarded. I spiced my deck up with Performage Trick Clown and Wulf from the Lightsworns to send from the deck off Super Soldier Synthesis (the ritual spell) since they can special summon themselves from grave to swarm for attack damage or to make a rank 4 :D

I really like slower moving decks, but I also play a lot of combo decks, although one of my favorite right now is Crystron. It's really fun and takes people completely by surprise and is great going first against combo decks. There's no better feeling than dropping a Black Rose at the start of the battle phase, you have 3 cards in hand, your opponent has just one, and you've now forced a grind game on their first turn as they over committed and were immediately punished for it by passing turn. It's awesome, especially against more meta decks, especially since it can crush combo decks (IF it goes first) and can kind of sort of banish Rei and all their Diabolos, or alternatively, banish all of their spells from field and grave. Great matchup, except that both of those can be easily negated.

I don't have them in a viable state since i havent updated it for a long time but i have it with 5 different ways to win. When it comes to budget, i have a deck that came out in less than 10$. Just get the cheap cards and replace expensive ones for other things that can still help.

    8:41 don't we all lol
Also I play a little bit of everything but I find my playstyle fits best with the Chaos stuff. It hasn't gotten great support in years but it's so versatile that it tends to fit in with a lot of decks anyway.
Honestly I think it should get better draw power or search power. I tend to prefer draw power, because it can get to the unsearchable one ofs more easily.
Also, kinda want Chaos Emperor Dragon to come off the banlist because it is a good card, but kind of power crept with so many ways to stop it and so many cards that can't be destroyed by card effects, and it does have a problem with ghost ogre because seriously, you ghost ogre the chaos emperor, since it makes it to where both cards don't get destroyed by the Chaos Emperor's effect, it makes it not as useful for burning your opponent to death/easy killing range. Also veiler. Also solemns. It's basically a minus to wipe the field if your opponent doesn't have an out, but really, at this point, why banish a light and a dark monster from your graveyard just to summon that when in most circumstances you're better of with BLS?
The answer: you wouldn't in most cases. It would be a side deck option, and a semi cute tech. A lot of times you'd be better off with Mirror Force Dragon, not only because of the OG mirror force being better in a lot of circumstances, but also because Mirror Force Dragon can stop most things with its destruction effect without wiping out your field too.
Also it didn't need that errata in the OCG that made it useless. I say this as a chaos player who plays Chaos Emperor Dragon in traditional(when I bother to play that) and unlimited(when I play chaos in unlimited for the hell of it). Even at 3, it's okay but not really worth giving your entire hand and field for, even if you're destroying, at best, your opponent's hand and field, because then the next turn you'll get your ass kicked most likely.
Also, I admit, most of the cards on the banlist need to stay banned(ie yata garasu, Vanity's Emptiness(hate that card so much. If I were to play against it again I'd have to run spell/trap removal in all my decks just to get around it. I ran MST in every deck because of that before it was banned, or galaxy cyclone when I learned about that), Painful Choice, etc., and I respect the fact that yes, some cards are unhealthy for the game and need to stay banned. However, there are some cards that don't need to be on the banlist anymore because of their lack of relevance to the modern game. Hell, BLS could've been semi limited during pendulum format and it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. Chaos Emperor Dragon, especially now with the modern game, while being a good and powerful card, isn't all it's hyped up to be anymore. I'll admit, it was a perfect ace back in the day, but if you put it back to 1 now, I doubt most decks would even run it. In a vacuum, it's debatable that it's still op. In the wider game, it's not that great anymore. Which is sad, but that's the way the game goes.
Besides, if very few people are running BLS at 3 as a viable strategy in the wider game, which is a better card in most circumstances, would anybody run 1 chaos emperor, or even 3 if it were to go to unlimited? I doubt it, unless chaos gets a lot of better cards to support BLS and CED, which won't happen any time soon, though Konami could make a lot of money off of it.
Huh, who wants to help me petition Konami to make a structure deck for the TCG and OCG for the Chaos monsters? Having reprints of CED and BLS and Chaos Sorcerer, and new support cards for them? That could be amazing and yes, I could see CED becoming viable and op for the format the deck comes out in. Strange, I know, but how much money could be made off of the new support for that? I mean, you saw the new support for DM and Blue-Eyes and it turned out well, so I can totally see a structure deck or a legendary deck box with one of the decks having that personally.
But I don't know, I could be entirely wrong about the new support for the Chaos archetype thing(is it a proper archetype? I haven't gotten a conclusive answer).
Though, I admit, you're better off banishing all the things with a chaos deck than running a chaos emperor. Then again, splashed into a DM deck, with DM the Dragon Knight and Eternal Soul out, CED wouldn't be able to destroy them I don't think, I'd have to double check on that though

Built a Kaiba deck utilizing most of the game mechanics. The two lacking is exceed and pendulum summoning. Haven't been able to wrap my brain fully around those two. But here's what I have.
    Blue Eyes White Dragon 3
    Obelisk: The Tormentor 1
Dverg of the Nordic Alfar 2
Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts 2
Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts 2
Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts 3
    Gravekeeper Commandment 3
    Gravekeeper Headman 1
    Gravekeeper Recruiter 1
    Gravekeeper Descendant 1
    Gravekeeper Chief 1
    Gravekeeper Spiritualist 2
    Gravekeeper Spy 2
    --
    --
    Spells
    Fiend Sanctuary 1
    Future Fusion 1
    Gravekeeper's Stele 2
    Necrovalley 3
    Terraforming 1
    The Fang of Critias 1
    Twin Twisters 1
    --
    --
    Traps
    Mirror Force 1
    Necrovalley Temple 1
    Nordic Relic Gungnir 1
    Nordic Relic Leavateinn 1
    Riteof Spirit 1
    Tyrant Wing 1
    --
    --
    Extra
Blue Eyes Twin Burst Dragon 1
    Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon 1
    Gravekeeper's Supernaturalist 1
    Mirror Force Dragon 1
    Quintet Magician 1
    Tyrant Burst Dragon 1
Thor, Lord of the Aesir 1
    Thunder End Dragon 1
Black Luster Soldier - Soldier of Chaos 1
Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant 1
Notes: Obelisk isn't really worth summoning since if you have 3 monsters on the field. Pretty sure you're already winning the duel. Gravekeeper Supernaturalist and Thor could immediately win you the duel in some cases. Haven't tested Quintet Magician in a duel yet. But could easily thin your deck and help move the gravekeeper strat along. Gravekeeper clearly isn't as powerful as they used to be it seems. Is there something similiar that could lockdown the graveyard or prevent banish plays without bombing the core deck idea? Or is a Kaiba theme deck just to old to play with the newer sets?

Mekk knight invoked is a good deck if u would wanna beat out your opponent with negation and big beater fusions. When u summon invoked machabia and a dead hand. U can take full control of your opponents field. This won me so many games and its fun using mekk knights for the most part due to not relying to much on an extra deck and also special summoning for days especially when going second. I added invoked in my deck cause i felt like the deck itself didn't get much normal summon support plus the only thing i was running was link monsters (mostly knightmare's).

I had to pick between mayakashi or predaplant
Greedy venom fusion dragon is pretty good
Mayakashi can summon a level 11 synchro with a single rank 4 card
Mayakashi mayhem could let you draw, or do 800 damage to your opponent each time you synchro summon,
Using the winged mayakahi, you can special summon a dakki the something mayakashi from your deck then synchro, dakki can come back the field if you synchro summon a mayakashi. Using just dakki and winged mayaakashi you can summon 6 synchro monsters and inflict 800 damage for each of them or draw 6 cards using mayakashi mayhem. Also an effect of mayakashi synchro is for example: the rank 3 mayakashi effect is if an rank 5 mayakashi is destroyed you can special summon the rank 3 mayakashi from your graveyard. This effect applies to all the mayakashi synchro monsters. For the rank 11 mayakashi synchro it applies to the mayakashi link monster
If you get mayakashi mayhem and two winged mayakashi then you pretty much won because the 800 burn danage for each time you synchro will finish them off
Theres a predaplant card that lets you discard a monster to special summon a predaplant from your deck. If you have a 8 star dark monster in your hand then you could special summon predaplant cobra something from your deck to use its effect to get a fusion card or poly for easy venom fusion dragon, easy predaplant link monster, or that one predaplant fusion that looks like a giant flower, so basically a giant venasaur from a birds eye view.
Spoiler: I picked a train based deck
