Just came to say big thank you for helping us through your videos. I prepared my exam through ur videos within 3 weeks. I'm very happy that I passed my GCSEs. You are an amazing teacher. God bless you
@@VeryBizzyIzzyy can you advise me on how to approach each question for each paper i will sit the November exams soon can you tell me how u approached it?! I madly want to achieve 7 above pls tell me how u approached the exam papers i actually have changed the exam board from AQA to EDUQAS so i only have less than 2 month pls reply to my comment
used the masked man story today in my eduqas language exam, the title was 'the big decision' and i wrote about a lady doing a trial shift to become a geographer inspecting the ice in the swiss alps, i then inserted this story and at the end said 'the big decision was made, the job was not for me.'
its saying that you shouldn't finish your story with 'and then she woke up' or 'it was all just a dream' as examiners take it as a lazy/easy way out of making a creative/interesting story.
Can you get the mark at 7:30? I thought you had to write something like 'One impression i get is the man is angry as it says he ''beat his fists on the table.'' The quote ''beat his fists'' suggests he is frustrated and annoyed'
You don't need to repeat the quote if it is as short as the one you've used: One impression I get is that the man is annoyed because he "beat his fists on the table". However, you might need to clarify what he's annoyed about.
Only talk about language features if you can explain the effect on the reader. If you just say ‘that’s a simile…’ with nothing else, you won’t get a mark for it.
Thanks a lot, can you say where exactly we get the marks on our story? For example I've heard few people say try doing 1 sentence paragraphs as it will give you marks.
@@BPCEnglish ok and for the questions 1-5 my school teach that for (paper 1) 10 mark questions (q5)10x opinion+qoute +inference (q3,q4) its 10xquotation+inference and 5 mark(q2)its 5xquotation+inference and i feel like its time consuming as i never finish the language paper. do you think i should answer the questions your way ? as it feels faster and easier. im aiming for atleast a 5 in english language to get in my chosen sixth form.
Well, I basically say the same thing. Do lots of quotes with short, concise explanations. Also, you might be able to find a few easy quotes where you don’t need to explain your answer.
Nah, but it’s only advised past tense as it’s easier to not mess up by changing tense, which is what loses you marks if it’s you randomly change tenses, showing bad spelling

At the end of the video when you said the short story final tips what does the 6th one mean No Dream Endings?
its saying that you shouldn't finish your story with 'and then she woke up' or 'it was all just a dream' as examiners take it as a lazy/easy way out of making a creative/interesting story.
This is brilliant!! Thank you :)
Can you get the mark at 7:30? I thought you had to write something like 'One impression i get is the man is angry as it says he ''beat his fists on the table.'' The quote ''beat his fists'' suggests he is frustrated and annoyed'

For question 1 can you use 6-7 If you are unsure about them
Do we not need to use the Language techniques with the quotes ? to explain them
Only talk about language features if you can explain the effect on the reader. If you just say ‘that’s a simile…’ with nothing else, you won’t get a mark for it.
Yes, 8.10.23
Man I did really bad, 29/80 :(
Yet to know grade until next week!
26.11.23
Thanks a lot, can you say where exactly we get the marks on our story? For example I've heard few people say try doing 1 sentence paragraphs as it will give you marks.
One sentence paragraphs? I wouldn’t do many of them.
7:22 Should we not bother analysing the quotes further for these?
The ones at that time in the video are quite simple, so I don’t need any further explanation. If it is more complex quote then delve into it more.
@@BPCEnglish Thanks! I've got my English test tomorrow so I appreciate the help.
should you add speech in a story or no?
A little bit
@@BPCEnglish is it too late to make a story now?
No. Exam is on Monday 5th June. Plenty of time.
@BPC English
my teachers always say one quote per mark, should i use that or stick to this??
Well, I basically say the same thing. Do lots of quotes with short, concise explanations. Also, you might be able to find a few easy quotes where you don’t need to explain your answer.
how many words should i am my story to be on is 500 too much?
this sounds alot easier then aqa-
do you lose marks if you write in present tense
Nah, but it’s only advised past tense as it’s easier to not mess up by changing tense, which is what loses you marks if it’s you randomly change tenses, showing bad spelling
How should we separate the plan from the story for the examiners? Do we just write both on our answer paper, but title them "Plan" and "Story"?
Write the question number in the margin and leave at least 2 lines between each questions
I read that wrong lol, cross out all of the plan with a line through all the words. Otherwise the examiner might count it as part of the story
I wouldn’t cross it out as I would want the examiner to see it. I would just put ‘plan’ then underline it. Do the same for the story underneath.
@@BPCEnglish my school always tells us to cross out planning, are we actually meant to keep it in?
Do we not include language techniques
Only if you make a good point about their effect. Just saying it’s a simile, personification etc will get you nothing.
Where can i find past papers?
bpcenglish.wordpress.com
what grade are these answers?
1-7 I think
Grades 4-7
@@BPCEnglish how many marks do u have to get on each question in order to get grade 7 or above?
How am i meant to think of an idea for an story? and is it too late now to make one?

Sir, can I go from a grade 2 to a grade 5 for the real thing?

Talk about structure and language features e.g. similes, personification etc.
