If you have to have someone's permission to track their phone, there's no way they're not going to know you're doing so. They'll just assume you're doing it all the time. Kinda defeats the whole purpose.
People are very weird and bizarre for doing things like this. Here in this country I have a whole list of men and women obsessed with my life. I truly think they are some twisted individuals.

Tried this with all my friends and family, it didn’t work at all, my iPhone & their Android couldn’t track either phone on Google Maps. I shared my location to everyone in my address book and I was unable to Track them and they were unable to track me??
Can't track a person if they won't accept your invitation; and.....if u don't have access to their phone.

This is indeed a scary video...who is that creepy and obssessed with the location of another that they would track them in secret? One of the comments point out the need for consent. That is worth consideration. Even if it is a romantic partner, most laws say it is illegal to intercept information from a cellphone without the permission of the person who is targeted.

Google sends you an email letting you know who you're sharing with. They're going to know eventually.

All these locators require the targeted phone to have an app downloaded on their phone first..they need to consent to putting an app on their phone..there is no stealth locating available to civilians.

Is the Google email that reminds you that you are being tracked only sent to you once when you initially give access to a person, or is it send to you every single time they click on the link to track you?

Their location should also have to be set on “always” coz if not, if they dont open the google maps app, you wont be able to see their live location.

Some kid stole my phone (he said he was locked out of our apartment buulding and had to call his mom, so I let him use my cell and he ran), and I was able to track him through my daughter's cell phone. I tracked gum gor 3 hours, and got to gis house with the police on my tail for him when he finally stopped going to different places. I was shocked to get my phone back after that many hours. A d he lucked out because I canceled the police as soon as I got it back, which got him off the hook. I am VERY grateful we can track phones like this. And I now know not to just let anyone use my phone; I could have just made the call for hum had it been a real lockout.

He could have just turned the phone off. Usually police wont do anything about a stolen phone. Especially not follow you around hot on your tail.

So why is it that the owner of the phone would never know? Is it because the phone doesn’t snitch like how iPhones do? I know you said the owner will get an email, but if the owner never checks their email, will the phone itself pop up any messages saying you’re sharing your location?

Yes,they will know...they will get notified....i have just tried it on my 2nd phone.
So when you activate location sharing in the Target phone,they apparently get an email notifications,so unless you are fast enough to get to the email too and delete the email notifications,you will get caught...be aware!
if it is "until i turn it off" will it notified for how long?

You don’t even need to do all that… as long as your email address is logged into on the other persons phone, you can go to your maps, security, find device and click the phone you want to track!

Yes I already used this feature a few times when I had to cycle somewhere at 4am as a volunteer and gave my sister the permission to track me during the whole day. Can also be handy if my eldery parents get lost.

Not working for me. It just gives me a link to share with the person I'm choosing to share with. After I turn on my location sharing and go to Google maps, I don't see any icons with this persons info. This person has an iPhone. NOT sure if that matters

One of the things that I did not hear you mentioned which could be to your advantage is that if someone ever stole your phone or you left your phone somewhere by accident and when you came back it was gone, you could use a friend's phone that was tracking you to locate your phone...

Their phone has to have maps accessible to your location and your phones location on, if not it won't load where they are and just say offline
Pretty sure this is why people are going to "dumb-phones" AKA text and talk phones, OH and ones that the battery can be taken out of :)

At 2:45 you say that the phone of the person being tracked is never notified.
But at 3:10 you say that with a filter on the email notification, the notification will end up in the trash.
So, a notification WILL sent (and repeated periodically as a reminder)
So the correct wording would be: The person who is tracked cannot is never notified....UNDER SPECIFIC CONDITIONS.

Great video - I now appreciate the usefulness of this feature. Of course, the fact that someone can be tracked without their knowledge is yet another reason for controlling physical access to the devices. As another expert says: There is no secuity measure that can keep you 100% safe from someone with physical access to your device.

i have before uninstall all google apps, theres no use for them in the phone ? No google, no google maps, no google at all no gmail.. etc etc.. why should i use them .. i dont want any interference and is better ways too use other apps or just use n other browser too activate google functions
