I hope algorithm exists so this game could finally improve and make more interesting matches between player with similar wr. Getting legend is not even fun anymore
The same people who complain about algorithm are probably the people who lose most games when they type advantage on the lead and safe swap

I’ll switch mon leads consistently just to see if there’s an algo and there 200000% is. I’ll be dragon and catch ice leads, swap to fire and catch water leads. Swap to grass type lead and get countered immediately by fire or flying lol like this happens allllllllll the time
Ive played high level in 2 dozen games through my life. From fighters, FPS to Pokemon tourneys and I can tell you, GBL is very odd in terms of MM. I find counters immediately after a swap and it’s continuously. It’s why I prefer Pokemon showdown man. Been doing competitive for a decade. I hate that a lead determines who wins (not 100% but very much increases odds) you can see at Grand Finals. You win lead? Most likely win match.

I can beat triple dragons with DD/Coffin and Oranguru. Getting their shields early is key
Yeah I don’t really believe in the algorithm either but I just use it as an excuse when I lose after a hard counter lead lol
i think the dragon-weak teams are just more people bringing open great league teams to retro cup
i faced a bunch of talonflame lanturn bs as well, especially after ultra league came back
If you don't believe in algorithm, make a video on it. Play 2 sets, one using all hyper meta teams and one with all hyper spicy teams. You will see the result: how many spicy pokemon you will meet with your meta teams and how many hyper meta against the super spicy ones? 😉

Yea there's definitely an algorithm. It's more obvious when watching the match ups youtubers have with certain teams compared to my teams. Especially when you highlight the repeat teams you face in sets then say who made a video for this team? Every youtuber says this lately Lol Also, Pogo not having an algorithm for the app would make it the exception among all apps. All apps have an algorithm
Nah, cause i went like 8-2 right up until lvl 19 where you get that charged tm and all of the sudden i lose 7 games in a row by being hard countered on the lead AND switch. There is definitely an algorithm. Why would there not be?

I know someone who was a contractor for Niantic and he told me the match making is based on movesets. So there is an algorithm of sorts....its the same one they use to suggest pokemon with the best counter movesets for raids. So yeh unfortunately it isnt exactly "random" matchmaking....
Its also quite evident when you are on the loss streak of sets and you change your line only to get hard countered by pokemon you never see running your old line...i mean its kinda evident with the first game and a few others with non sensical pokemon that somehow counter you in this video😂
Every time I went on a winning streak of 10+ games, the queuing time got insanely long no matter how low my level were. Then I would get absolutely hard countered. No one can convince me algorithm does not exist.
Bwahahaha! No algorithm?! I find it hilarious that nearly ever content creator toes this line. Not only is there absolutely an algorithm, it is very easily repeatable, and I've watched it happen on Your Steam! Bwahahaha!

Every PVP game EVER has an algorithm. Its literally the reason aces dont face legends… the game surely decides who you go up against now what the stipulations of matching trainers are, is debate able but there are no “random instances”. Actually if it was random it would be VERY hard to get hard countered multiple times in a row at low ELO in an open meta like Great league.

This is verging on whataboutism. Yes at know there's an algorithm that determines who of all the players in the queue you'll be matched up against. The debate (if you can call it that) is whether said algorithm takes into account the teams both players in the queue are using. 'The Algorithm' adherents believe it does, while the naysayers (rightly, IMnsHO) say it doesn't. I've yet to see any convincing argument from the adherents regarding how the supposed team-selective algorithm chooses who is going to be hard countered. It's nonsense.
Anyone who believes it is totally random and Niantic do anything with any honesty needs to put the crack pipe down. Rigged to high heaven
