  • Stockton Firefighters responded to 5 working structure fires during their 48 hour shift starting August 23rd at 0800. This is the second of those fires, in the 1500 block of Morrison. Crews arrived on scene to heavy fire in the structure, multiple exposures on fire, and forcible entry issues. Firefighters quickly addressed the D side exposure while awaiting forcible entry, then made an aggressive interior fire attack. Water-supply (relay pumping) operations delayed fire attack only for a moment- before crews advanced into the building. While crews were extinguishing the C side exposure, a second box alarm was reported in the north side of the city.
This video provides raw footage caught on-scene, mixed with fire-audio and explanation captions. The fire-audio is not synched up to the video.
We thank you for your views, support, feedback, and comments. Comments that contain profanity, incite controversy, or are intended to 'troll' will be deleted. We can not express enough that this video is intended to educate the public on what Stockton Firefighters must encounter- not host a platform for people to argue about personal issues or the fire service. We reserve the right to delete comments as we see fit.
We are proud to serve the citizens and City of Stockton, California.

It's been said before but I'll say it again, that dispatcher is on her game. I'm amazed how smoothly she runs through the departments, trucks, and equipment that are being dispatched to the fire. She doesn't without missing a beat. Hats off to her.
I also applaud this fire department. They are easily one of the finest I've ever seen. They don't miss a beat when attacking a fire. They size things up very quickly and normally get fires under control in what had to be an amazing amount of time. This channel should be required watching for anyone who aspires to be a fire fighter.

You can tell just by the way the support lady at central is so calm and professional, sounds like she enjoys what she does and the fact that she had already notified gas etc at the end of the video. Key member to the high performance team even if she isn't fighting the fires.

This property was set on fire 7 more times after this. The owners had passed away and squatters took over. They are the ones that brought the junk and started the fire. The new property owner bought the land with the burnt out structure. Homeless people set up tents inside and set fire to it again. Being the next door neighbor we pleaded with the owner to do something about it but the guy just ignored us saying that he couldn't do anything because he "was cursed by a witch"???. With the last fire our roof cought fire and it killed our 20 year old almond tree. Along with three cherry trees. We told the owner that he either got rid of the squatters or he had to pay for a new roof (we were already in the process of replacing it so we were going to tear it down anyway) he ended up getting them out. The owner had to pay for our trees and ultimately lost the property. Thank you very much Stockton Fire Department.

Great fire attack and protection of exposures. Just advice for Alpha side attack crew. If water is not ready and you are not about to make entry control your door. If you watch before they mask up there is only turbulent smoke. When the line is charged and ready for interior attack the structure has flashed. This is simple but easy to forget. Good work guys

Excellent job fighting this hoarder fire! The only critique to give, as a former FF and now an occupational toxicologist studying ways to reduce toxic exposures that cause cancers and other medical maladies, is that the company fighting the initial D side exposure near what appears to be a garage belching out trash did not have SCBA masks on. Even a little smoke has an impact on the body and not knowing what is the that pile or behind that garage door makes even more hazardous. Otherwise solid, great job!!!

Stockton always hustles aggressively on incidents, outstanding performance. however I don't find any reason when you have smoke showing from a distance why you would drive by hydrants and wait for the next engine to bring it to you . Fire fighting first law: establish a good water supply. Waiting for next engine is going to come back and bite you one of these days. Murphy's law is in effect!! They can have machinal failure, traffic accident, take wrong street, many things can and will go wrong. Waiting for next engine for your water is no different then a cop having a friend load his gun at the start of a shift. Some things you just don't do. Passing a water supply is going to cost you one day not in structural/material loss but human suffering. Perhaps a topic for the brass to digest?

Whats does operator 1 stand for?

    • @StocktonFireHistory
      @StocktonFireHistory  8 лет назад +4

Our fire department has a position titled Chief's Operator 1. The position has been around (we believe) since the 1950's, and originally held duties as the Fire Chief's chauffeur and assisted with anything the Fire Chief needed. The position is currently detached from the Fire Chief, and serves in several important ancillary duties.
On emergency scenes the Operator is the Accountability Officer, an extra set of eyes for Command, arranges for red cross and other support, etc.
Additionally, the Operator is responsible for the day to day staffing of the department, P.I.O. duties, support duties, etc.
There are three operator's in the fire department, one for each shift. They hold an engineer's rank, which is promoted via Civil Service.

Hoses and tools 15-25 minutes pending on size and amount as well as exhaustion level of crew. Time back to station 5-15 minutes pending traffic and location. Refill of tanks if reserves were used. 10-20 minutes pending system and amount of tanks. replenish of exhaustible supplies 5-10 minutes. It can be as little as 15 minutes or as much as an hour and a half pending all that. Basically the more intense the call the longer it will take.

I now understand the importance of enforcing code violations. The trash and car should've not been there. Low economic areas are slow to complain and people who inherit their parents or grandparent's homes use them for rental income without the finances to keep them properly maintained.

All that smoke when they first entered is coming from outside because the hose didnt hit it long enough to stop it from smoldering.

And that makes this a bad video or means these firefighters don't know what they are doing?

You need to learn how to sync the audio to the video. Pretty stupid of you to think otherwise.

And mr Lang are you an expert videographer? Most likely not so what say you keep piss poor comments to yourself shall we, as it was clearly obvious you missed the point of this video and therefore your comment was in bad taste and demonstrates your severe lack of character and glaringly apparent lack of human decency or common sense.
