  • It was time to add a new project vehcile to the channel, so we searched high and low for the right Discovery 3 and ended up with a broken, manual 2.7 V6 commercial LR3. Destined for scrap but we knew it could be saved and it cost under £200 with two parts and some magic from Forte. But it was quite the journey.

Thanks I’m looking forward to this series. The first job is definitely change the oil pump for the newer strong type before driving it any more. Being owned by a company it won’t have been changed from new so it will have the old weak pump. If it breaks your engine will be toast. You may as well change the belts at the same time.

As time goes on, the cost of the repairs needed will increase. The snake oil stuff might work for a while, but the fault will always return. Crazy to buy a LR, unless you want to make videos about the breakdowns and repairs needed.

Do you have the chassis mount on your floor jack? If not, you must be really careful as the chassis rails are rounded, it could get slippery and you don't want it to fall...

@@rchad129I’d disagree about their coffee. Both companies are franchised operations, so there will be a uk company that holds the master Franchise for the UK. I don’t know if the claims are correct about them banking offshore & paying no corporate tax. I’ve heard that claim levelled against Starbucks operation. Yes it does affect you & me. If companies are not paying tax there’s less money to go round. That means the sick take longer to get treated & the holes in the road don’t get fixed. However tax dodging is endemic now.
Even Tesco banks some money in the Cayman Islands 😬

    • @landyfan5366

Don’t Costa pay employers NI, Business Rates, VAT, stamp duty and import duty ? I guess you might mean Corporation Tax on profits. But banking offshore doesn’t avoid that. The best way to avoid Corporation Tax is to not make a profit.
