Saw the band live almost a month ago. Rob sounds incredible and The Crown of Horns is an instant legendary song that comes to live when played at an arena.
Thanks for the upload Niko. I love the break downs of Maiden songs but I did listen to Priest for a while. Thank you for this video. I will have to check out your other site.
Just got into Priest recently. I was never into them previously for some reason, don't know why. Thanks for the video. It was informative and interesting as always. You rock! 🤘🙏🎸
I've been a Priest fan for decades at this point. As a loyal Priest fan since my high school days way back in the late 90s, I formally welcome you to the fandom and hope you enjoy many years of rocking out to Priest. One of the most important heavy metal bands of all time.
Thanx !!!! I have to be honest, I haven't stopped listening to this album but I'm sucked in by Crown of Horns, this is just me. Again thank you! Your killing it!!!!
INVINCIBLE SHIELD is a great album, Rob is amazing, there are killer riffs and solos. For me this album is at top ten in their discography. ¡¡JUDAS FOREVER! good work man!!
Thanks for the breakdown. If you're looking for content suggestions for Judas Priest, I highly recommend a breakdown of the song "Serpent And The King". Or at the very least, a breakdown of the rhythm guitars during the guitar solo....the rhythm riffs are awesome and alot of fun to play.
How did I miss this ?! Great episode Nico. This album just kills. Trial By Fire my favorite and the highlight main riff of the album for me. As an aside, the beginning of Gates of Hell sounds like Reckless from Turbo to me. Killer track. Your playing is so tight and spot on. Rock! 🤘
Good stuff as per usual, sir! As far as covering and/or breaking down a solo, that’s a tough call, but I guess I’d like to see Giants in the Sky. That said, it would be tough to go wrong with any of the solos on this absolutely fantastic album and I do always encourage you to follow your guitar Muse when making such decisions! 🤠 I’m always hopeful that you will find time to go over some tips and how you pursued your intentional journey with regard to improving and getting that wonderful wide vibrato, à La David Gilmour, and Adrian Smith! I remember you said if you did so it would likely be on the other channel, forgot which channel I was commenting in lol but either way the message is the same. 🤠 This was a great episode, thanks and take care!
Thank you so much! Giants has a great solo...Gates of Hell is a nice one too... Lots to choose from on this album and I can't wait to catch the live shows in a few weeks! As for the vibrato video, I will definitely make one... I just ummm... still feel like I'm not quite there yet, even though I have made very obvious progress (cause it really sucked before 😅). But I will get to that soon enough. Always appreciate your support a whole lot. Thank you!
@@LicksOfTheBeast - Thanks as always for the thoughtful reply Nico. I love that you mentioned Gates of Hell, as that was one of the other two I was thinking of throwing out there for you! The last time I saw Priest was in the fall of 22 and I think I’ve still got a smile on my face from that show (although the last few weeks the smile might be from the tremendous Armored Saint performance, I saw recently!) The entire Priest performance was fantastic, but the high point for me was them performing the song “Genocide”. So heavy! Have fun at the shows, I’m jealous you’re seeing them earlier in the tour while they’re fresh! No pressure on the vibrato tutorial/pointers/retracing of your practice journey. I’m just not progressing as fast as I would like on that front and can use all the help I can get. 😂
Excellent analysis!!! I totally agree about the markers and references to past works in each song. This album is totally Judas Priest. The production is better than anything we've heard since Painkiller.
Haven't checked out this Priest record yet, but I will for sure after watching this video, I love twin guitars, Priest and Maiden are the best in the business when it comes to that, I know they didn't invent it but they made it popular.
Yeah, I'm sure they won't unfortunately, it seems that Steve and the boys have lost a lot of energy and excitement, at least that's what I hear on Senjutsu, I'm not a big fan of that album, it lacks the power of a metal record, to be honest, would love to see them dropping something that's a bit more metal instead of slow long songs.
It's a great album indeed! Maiden are doing something very different, so it would never have this kind of straightforward aggression. I still enjoy Senjutsu a whole lot, although I will say I would like the guitars to be just a little more upfront. But ultimately I think it's cool that both bands are still making great music in their own styles 😊
Who are Judas Priest, Unleashed in the East. That album was a gateway to Maiden for me. As you explain your thoughts and riffs for the new album it occurs to me that 2 highlights of the Priest catalogue Point of Entry and Turbo show another side of the band without all the Sturm and Drang metal for metals sake approach. Those records rocked. But they always returned to metal. I have always thought they should have made a movie about the Sentinal, but I digress. Painkiller should be on Classic rock radio just like Enter Sandman. Priest were the first metal band to double down on being a legacy act. Now they can rock with no apologies and produce heavy material as they see fit.
A friend of mine suggested the album was made by AI since he can‘t believe that Priest has it in them to make an album like that. It’s their best album, it’s unreal. Of course, they are younger than Maiden on average with Richie and Andy joining.
That's... Ageism! 🤪😂 In a way it does become more difficult to come up with new material that is exciting yet faithful to the band's core sound. But experience is a hugely important element when it comes to songwriting and arranging. And you're right, with a brilliant and younger guitarist like Richie, and guy like Andy Sneap who excels at producing heavy metal records (and he is doing a great job as a love guitarist too!) they're in a really good spot, with a perfect blend of experience, passion, and enthusiasm. There's no AI that can touch that! 😅🤘
That's a really cool album! I'm excited to hear what they come up next now that they've played those songs live and gotten a better feel for everything.
@@LicksOfTheBeast I think I saw in an interview Ritchie said they'll probably be back in the studio with elegant weapons in around 2025 or so, so I'm pretty excited
Please do another video on the solos on this album. IMHO Faulkner is a beast. I was a huge KK supporter ( still love him) but Richie is like son of KK and Glenn ( with Randy and Shenker thrown in 😂) 🤘🏽🤘🏽 Thank you for the video. Please keep em coming 🤘🏽 Love from India 🇮🇳
