  • Over the past 35 years, we here at Leerburg have built a reputation for selling the finest leather dog leashes, the finest leather harnesses, and the finest leather dog collars in the world.
Our Leerburg leather products are strong enough to last a lifetime but soft enough to be comfortable right out of the box. If you go to PetSmart or one of the dog food warehouses and feel their leather products, you will find that their leather is thin and stiff. The leather in our dog leashes is thick, pliable, and soft. It's comfortable on your hands and results in better training for your dog.

*I AGREE 100%! Leerburg leashes are probably the best in the world.* I own many Leerburg leather leashes that I purchased from you *TWENTY-FOUR years ago.* They look better today than when they were new. They're true heirloom quality. With proper care, they will last for decades. The hardware is highest quality and the leather is superb. I keep mine clean with saddle soap and oil them occasionally with Neatsfoot oil. Amos's leashes will likely outlive his grandchildren. My leashes are soft, supple but reliably strong. I had 155 Lb. plus giant breeds and I always trusted my leashes to be reliable and safe under the worst possible emergencies. I do have a short black braided Leerburg leash, and several 3/4 inch, 6-foot long Leerburg leashes with solid stainless or brass hardware. I really love the one that is "hands-free" and goes around the handler's waist. I wish I could post pictures. Don't hesitate to invest in incredible quality. The leashes are a joy to own.

What a coincidence. As I walked my German shepherd today, and she was as usual pulling hard and biting playfully on the leash, I thought of you to let you know how happy I was about my leash. I bought it from you back in 2008/09. I'm on my 3rd GSD with it and couldn't be happier with the quality, workmanship, and the leash keeps on going with no sign of retiring. For 13 years, I also had my Bernese mountain dog on the other end of the leash thanks to the second clip. Thank you for caring and all your good advice.

I've had my leerburg leather leash for 3 days and I already dearly love it. Nobody ever dearly loved a nylon leash.

Thanks for doing this video. It’s very helpful seeing the process of your leather products. I never shop at big box pet stores for anything anymore for many reasons. It’s overpriced junk in my opinion. I have one of your 2” wide leather agitation collars and I love it. It’s such quality craftsmanship and buttery soft feeling leather too. I’ll be ordering a leather agitation harness from you next.

It's like my favourite quality French leather horse tack products. Lasts for thousands of rides/uses, & multiple horses. Withstanding even the wettest of weather.
But there IS a proper upkeep & care to it! Proper cleaning regularly and proper conditioning with the right products.
That's so fascinating about leather you use for dogs cannot be the same for horses due to the saturation differences.
Did not know about the leather coming from a certain part of the cattle! That's really fricken cool!

Seem like this is ground solid work. Unfortunately I have a really good leash I never want to miss any more.

Im curious if the latigo is retanned being veg tanned then chrome tanned. I haven't seen any Latigo that is only chrome tanned. Im a traditional leatherworker and make my leashes from American tanned Bridle leather

We use chrome tan with a chrome retan which is hot stuffed with a rich blend of raw all natural oils and grease - it’s almost impossible to tear.

Do you carry flat leather slip leads?

I misunderstood your question yesterday when I answered - I was in a hiurry and thought you were asking about a leather long line. My bad. We do sell leather slip leads - my apology -

@@efrawley55 can you share why you don't use leather for slip leads?! I never have, and recently was advised to by another trainer! Especially id using as a transitional/figure 8 leash to sit more flat on the snout.
I prefer the round and thin ones, I haven't heard thus about the leather though!
Really great to hear coming from you.
