  • I took my Aprilia RSV4 for a ride to review the 520 Chain & Sprocket Conversion.
    I increased the rear sprocket to 43 teeth from 41 stock, and kept the front sprocket stock at 16 teeth.
    This is Part 2 video from Part 1 installation.

    Ive done thid mod to every sporbike ive owned over the past 20yrs. 520 conversion -1,±1 or 2 depending on how it feels. It completely changes the power delivery. I agree its a must. And worth losing some top end speed. Acceleration is instant. Some bikes reqire aftermarket speedo healer which i use gps to correct my speedo anyway because evey bike is around 10%off believe it or not.

      @@davidlagno7717 It is a must. Some liter bikes come stock with 520. I think Panigale V4r does. You can’t really utilize 200mph. I prefer faster acceleration. ✌️

      @ALFAVITAGA Can completely transform power delivery for a beast of a streetbike!!! Back in 06 I did that mod to my R6 for the 1st time and it blew my phucking mind man. -1,+2. My S1000RR now I just went -1 in the front with 520 swap 👍 Awesome video.

    I did a 530>520 conversion on my bike, and the most notable difference came from the rev match downshifting. It feels more snappy.

    Great video and review. I currently ride an RS 660 and absolutely love it but if your saying that making this conversion to your RSV4 has now made the bike feel like the RS660 but with the extra HP, then this is something l now need to consider when considering my next bike purchase. (I will probably still keep the RS but convert to track bike)
    Thanks bro, keep up the channel ✌🏻

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you! Look the RSV4 will never be as nimble as the RS660. Its physics its impossible. Unless you strip everything from it, add race fairings, shorter the wheel base, add a 180 rear tyre, add forged wheels and so much more, then sure you can make the RSV4 crazy nimble and light. But everything comes at the cost of something. You gain somewhere you lose somewhere else. In my case shortening the wheel base by 9mm made the RSV4 very nimble. But now it also lifts more and is not as planted as before. I’m receiving forged wheels next week. Once I install them, I’m thinking of going down to 42 teeth from 43 teeth to extend the wheel base by 5mm. It will still be 4mm shorter than stock. But the forged wheels might compensate for that 5mm wheelbase and keep it as nimble but without that much front wheel lift. I will do reviews on every mod including wheels and find the sweet spot of agility and stability. I’m also going to install triple clamp and longer clip ons that will aid in counter-steering making the bike more agile. The sky is the limit when it comes to mods. ✌️

      @@ALFAVITAGAlove the content on both bikes.
      I was literally at the end of this video thinking similar thoughts of what it might be like if you kept closer to the standard sprocket sizes but reduced the wheelbase slightly.
      Then you go and add in the forged wheels, this bike gonna look and feel killer.
      RS660 coming later in the year for me. Keep up the good work sir.

    For my 2017 RSV4-RF I went up 2 on the rear and down 1 on the drive but kept the 525 setup. Theres always a downside where theres an upside. 520 setup saves weight but the 525 helps longevity. I think I'll do 520 next time round

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  2 месяца назад

      I agree! I can’t speak for the longevity of the 520 but I feel that it wont be an issue. So far I’m very pro 520 conversion. Now for the gearing change, I find that it’s all about the sweet spot of what you are looking for. Usually the sweet spot is a combination of multiple items. In the geometry department, I think reducing the wheelbase by 9mm with a 43T, is great for agility but with the downside of excessive front wheel lift. Next I will drop to 42T adding 5mm of wheelbase length but still 4mm shorter than stock, reducing the front wheel lift. I will add forged wheels which I believe they will compensate for that 5mm addition of wheelbase by their lighter wheel weight. Hopefully that will be the sweet spot. I’ll update with videos ✌️

    Hi Buddy,
    Greetings to you..
    I am seeing your videos and thinking of upgrading my RS 660 Extrema to an RSV4 1100 Factory….So if you could make a video to compare the differences between the RSV4 and the RS660 so someone can decide if the upgrade is the right step and whom should upgrade…??
    I know that there are a lot of videos on the internet doing comparisons but your videos make more sense to me as you are a long term user, not a journalist..! At the same time you just adjusted every part of each one of them..
    I am the same guy who requested the RS660 suspension adjustment video previously…😅

    Instead of going down from 43 teeth to 42 teeth…. How bout adding 1 extra link from 110 to 111… your chain wear will be better and it will burn the wheel base to factory again… more you can power out the corners like you want and not worry to much about wheelies

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  Месяц назад

      True, but.. chain links are made in even numbers. So you can only go from 110 to 112 links. Unless you add a half link. It is possible but I don’t have enough information and suppliers on half links. I went over this on this video: ruclips.net/video/VtqVSjykSoA/видео.htmlsi=U2DLCBNKGPzsZsPv

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! I’m from Greece and I’m used to using Km/h instead of Mph. Same with meters, kilos, etc. I just understand the speed better in Km. Plus Km/h are more accurate than Mph. For instance if you are traveling at 100km/h thats 62mph. If you increase the speed to 101km/h the speedometer in Mph would still show 62mph because 101km/h is 62.75mph. Speedometer would only jump to 63mph when the speed in Km/h would reach 102km/h. At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. Whatever works best for each. ✌️

    Before the conversion did you notice less acceleration from 3rd to 4th and 5th? I would race my buddies (same weight) and they would walk away from me once I shifted to 4th and further once in 5th, this is with wide open throttle. I have stacks, Akra slipon and Gabro map. Thanks

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  2 месяца назад

      To be honest I never felt that it doesn’t have enough acceleration. Even on 5th I would open throttle at 160mph and it would pull me back off my seat. With the 43 rear you get acceleration on high rpm. I don’t like the 43 rear on mid rpm as I can’t accelerate fast without lifting the front wheel. I might try a 42 rear next. But there is kind of a flat spot on the RSV4. I didn’t feel it with the 43 rear. Which bikes walked you?

      @@ALFAVITAGA I hand stock gearing and it was every bike I raced. Modified 2015 r1, gsxr 1000, BMW s1000rr...and I was infront first 3 gears then when I shift into 4th they would always pull away and continue to pull away. So I hand it dynoed again and it was 190 SAE to the rear wheel. The Aprilia app showed that I was at 100% throttle. So I have been trying to figure out whats going on. Changed the oil to Motul 300v, burped the cooling system to get out air bubbles (the temp had been getting in the 230s heat = hp loss). I am glad you noticed a flat spot too, was it after you did the map or before. Thanks

    • @ALFAVITAGA
      @ALFAVITAGA  2 месяца назад +1

      @@tl1000r1 I haven’t done straight pull comparisons, but I know for a fact that with a 43T rear you can get a solid 190-192mph top speed, while the stock 41T can reach 200-202mph. In essence you lose 10mph on top speed. In comparison a one tooth drop in the front from 16 to 15, while keeping the rear stock at 41T, will give you roughly 187mph top speed.
