very useful information .... perfect pronunciation ..... it's obvious you know a lot about Arabic ... I honestly expected you to mistaken about when and where you can use اهلين but I was wrong :) I am really impressed ... most of native speakers do not know much information about Arabic but hearing that from a non-native speaker is awesome ! good luck for you ....
@Helenem55 'Assalamu alaikum' is an Islamic greeting. Although many non-Muslim arabic speakers use this phrase too much. If your neighbours are non-Muslim arabs, you can greet them with 'Marhaba' wich means 'Hello' in the most polite way :)
Omg thanks so much for teaching me its really easy to follow i would ask my uncle (hes from Jordan) but he only taught me assalamualaikum which don't how to respond to i am also kind of happy to cuz i can pick up the accent really fast due to my multicultural backround
wow your really good im full arabic and i speak fluent arabic very shocking how good you are a lot of ppl have a hard time just wondering are you trying to learn fluent arabic and what made you interested in the language/culture
And if the short vowel comes before an "l" it should sound like more like "el" instead of "al?" Last question I promise. Its just great to hear someone that speaks it so well.
@saxquiz I am trying to learn Arabic through internet research and I am getting Rosetta Stone 4 my birthday!! Last night at like 1:00 AM my Arabic Accent came out when I said Allah and I was like MY ARABIC ACCENT IS HERE!!! I was really excited but I only know Islamic words and I am going to try to learn the rest though Rosetta Stone!!! How do you say for the sake of God and In The Name Of God The Most Gracious The Most Merciful in The Egyptian Dialect??
very good im arabic and wow shaking are you trying to learn the full language and what made you interested in arabic or middle eastern countrys ? just woundering
keef halic.... is the first hello i learn,,,,, wheres that from???? mind you i learned from poppin into the shops here on the south side of the city (chicago) and from arabi friends...
Yep and even Arabic speaking Jews (the Yemenis, the Moroccans, etc.) use Allah in their prayers as well, so do Arab Christians. I hate that people think Allah is some separate Islamic entity, Allah, God, Adonai, are just different words for the same thing. I don't see anyone saying that cheese is different because it's called fromage.
Hello. Learning Arabic now. You are doing great. 2 quick questions. When you say the 'as-salaamu, does the "aa" in that word get an "ehh" sound or an "ahh" sound? I have heard different arab sound different when saying that. Also is the "u" an "oooo" sound or an "uu" like in the word foot? The second question is are you eliding the "H" and the "a" in the expression SabaaH al-khayr? It sounds like you are saying Sabaa - Hal-khayr. Just want to make sure I am saying it correctly. Thanks
Thank you so much for the answer. So basically, the short vowel "a" is always prounounced "ah" as in father and the long vowel "aa" is pronounced like "ham?" Is there an exception to that or is that pretty much right? Other than that, I think I pretty much understand modern standard arabic pronounciation.
I have progressed pretty well in Arabic for a year now...BUT...I will give 7 gazillion dollars to the person who can teach me how to pronounce ع I wish I knew how you, The Arabic Student, learned ayn
My parents are Syrian but haven't taught me much Arabic, ayn is a challenge when it's in the middle of the word but on the beginning I know how to pronounce it. ع is by far the hardest Arabic vowel to master.
@1906319063 , You can say "Tahiyati Likum" but mainly in writing to someone. You never say it face to face. Its similar to "greetings" in English or "my greetings to you". You would not say ; TahiyaT Likum as this would mean "A greeting for you" , its rather meaningless this way as not knowing where the greetings from.
um.. just wondering.. if for eg.. "masaa al-khayr" is supposed to be mudhaf and mudhaf ilay structure, then why is masaa pronounced with a fatha as opposed to a dhumma?...
@Helenem55 Hello Helen. Well, 'allah' is the standard Arabic word for 'God'. So allah simply means God. It's not an Islamic thing :) ALL the Arabic speakers use 'allah' as refering to God, whether they're Muslim, Jew, Christian or whatever they might be. Hope I made it clear for you.

I was like D= when you spoke arabic. IT IS ACTUALLY FLAWLESS; you sound like a native arab!
Can you also add the khaleej salutations as well such as shlonik and hala wallah...?
@vinceasneed the "aa" would sound like the "a" in "ham". And the "u" is an "oooo". And Sabaa - Hal-khayr is right. Hope that helps.
very good im arabic and wow shaking are you trying to learn the full language and what made you interested in arabic or middle eastern countrys ? just woundering
Good job man.. but there are some simple things you need to correct and you will be perfect
keef halic.... is the first hello i learn,,,,, wheres that from???? mind you i learned from poppin into the shops here on the south side of the city (chicago) and from arabi friends...
It means how do you do. It's said pretty much everywhere, both in formal and informal, but in Saudi Arabia we usually say: kayf al-haal?

My parents are Syrian but haven't taught me much Arabic, ayn is a challenge when it's in the middle of the word but on the beginning I know how to pronounce it. ع is by far the hardest Arabic vowel to master.
