  • For today's adventure I set out to see if I could endure a sub-freezing winter night in City of Rocks State Park near Silver City New Mexico. In the past, Ive been apprehensive about cold weather camping, and admittedly, I've let it limit the adventures I've been able to experience.
Recently I decided to put more focus into my cold weather camping setup and gear
With an expected low of 25 degrees Fahrenheit, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to test some new cold weather gear and my Napier Backroadz truck tent.
I was fortunate enough to get an amazing campsite nestled among giant boulders and because I reserved on a Monday, I had no neighbors in nearby campsites.
Overall, this was an amazing camping trip and I would recommend City of Rocks State park to anyone.
I would also recommend cold weather winter camping as long as you have the right gear and heating system in place.
camping in cold weather opens me up to plenty of winter camping adventures and I hope you consider sticking around to join me for them
Thanks for watching. Don;t forget to like and subscribe!

Air mattresses are nice for warm weather but poor insulation. Try a sleep pad with high r value and you’ll be much warmer

Thanks. I figured that out after a while. I use a cot now and sometimes a sleep pad. 😎🤙

Hi! Great video! Didn’t know there was a city of rocks in New Mexico!
Did you say at your video stamp time at 6:52 that it was 20 degrees at 7am or 28 degrees? 😅 am trying to imagine how cold it was with the Napier tent truck

Hi! It was 28 degrees. The lowest it got to that night was about 25 degrees! I wouldn’t want to camp any colder than that lol 🥶

Great video. 👍. You may want to keep the carbon monoxide detector at floor level since carbon monoxide is heavier than air.
