Seriously been fishing rogues for over 30 years, for the price it’s still my go to. Blue or black back, chrome with orange belly. Shallow running or a suspending
You, Johnny, and Matt should do a challenge were each of you guys fish one of those baits all day on a good jerkbait day to see which bait boats the most fish in a day. It would be really cool to see the vision 110, lucky craft pointer 100, and the smithwick Rouge go against each other.
It's good thing that Randy understands a lot of fishermen don't like him for a number of reasons. I think one part of it again is him fishing certain lakes mainly.....as he, himself said that his videos do pertain to his fishing. I see that. I see that he tends to endorse strictly Megabass and I understand why. Problem is if you talk about colors or generalized topics, you can't really say Pro Blue, but should state the main colors in all the brands. My take is Randy is very skilled at his location, which may not translate to other lakes. All in all, the info is still better than some of the others bc it comes from more of a wise state. As for the lures, I don't think many pros are as vastly skilled as you would like to think. They are certainly vastly more skilled than most fishermen.
I have put fished people in my boat with a rouge but the quality control was is really good and all the hooks in mine have not bent out or gone dull after a pile of fish and I fish the rouge in really clear water and rock and wood and it work really good for me so far
Randy, thanks for the video and I realize that it is your opinion. That is why I watch your channel because I want to hear your opinion. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Something about that clown rouge in a little off color water. Cliff pace won the classic at grand on that bait. He said he caught them on jackall but the video shows otherwise.
I love the way you ended this video not that the initial information wasn’t great just that “if you want to hear how I’m pi$$ing someone off” got me laughing at 4:25am going over my fishing gear lol
Seems to me a lot of your viewers take fishing way too scientifically. Until you can put a microphone in a bass's face and interview him about which lures and colors he prefers I wouldn't assume to know for sure. Good video Randy. I look forward to your videos and enjoy them.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned the jackal squad minnow. A lot of this is about “confidence.” I’ve caught fish on smith wick, magabass and jackal, but I just feel more confident when the jackal is tied on. But I do love the action of the megabass.
The Rogue may not catch more fish but it has an intangible old-school authenticity. Ever wonder how Van Dam's 2005 Classic would have played out on anything but the Rogue?
I really like the Smithwick floaters just right under subsurface at times, and walking it real fast like a spook, I have had them t bone it from a ways away. I have a bunch of 110's and still trying to get used to them. Though in rivers have done great with an X Rap. Also I really like the flat sides of the shadow rap and really caught em on a few select colors.
Randy, I look at the Smithwick vs the Megabass and I struggle to see much physical difference so what makes the megabass so much better other than quality? I have several rogues and have fished them for 40+ years. To be honest, I have trouble spending $25 for a single lure. I can buy 3 rogues for that. It's not that I don't have the money. I'll bet I have more electronics on my boat than you but I remember when Bagley Killer B-2 (bought hundreds of them) were $4.96. Maybe that's my problem?
I remember the first time I ever heard about the 110 a bunch of guys spent a ton of $ on them and we won the tournament using rouge’s. That being said our first try with them my dad out caught me 10 to 1.
While the sentiment is mostly true, theres a good amount of days where a jackall rerange will smash on a 110, similarly pointers. It is not the best for every situation, while it is the best overall.
Great video and I have a fee of these rogue stick baits and I think I will get a few of the vision 110's. Thanks for the information and hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!!! :)

You eluded to a prior question I asked a few weeks ago on your best jerbait fisherman. I asked do you ever fish the deep diving rogue like a shad rap. Sounds like he kind of did crank it down 8-10 Ft then twitch and pause. We used to downsize the middle hook and upsize the ends. That way they don’t hang on each other when it catches air on the cast.
@@randyoney8793 Randy, I probably fished a deep diving rogue as a shad rap many years before catching a typical jerk bait fish. Fontana, NC is a deep lake. We cranked the long bill rogue like a shad rap but used a start and stop maybe a twitch. The key was finding the right reel turn and stop rhythm. They either ate it head first or right in the middle. Man so many memories of the middle ones coming up grabbing that thing and heading off…ah. Takes me back.

We need you to do a comparison of the new Berkeley stunna in the vision 110 I've had both deep diving version and the regular stuff since this fall and I've been fishing side by side with vision 110 and right now it's about a dead heat I can't tell which bait out performs the other it'd be interesting to hear your point of view on the new Berkeley stunna MoneyWise the stunna is about $10 cheaper I would say they don't have quite as good a paint schemes and color patterns as megabastas I give the nod to mega bass there the hooks on the stunner I think are better the fusion 19 hooks as far as fish catching ability though they're both phenomenal in my opinion get a few and try them out Randy
I put a heavier hook on the front of a provoke today and caught 6 in a little under an hour with half the lake covered in ice. Might be something to this jerkbait knowledge.
I fish both and theres a huge difference in the two for me.....both will put fish in the boat but that Megabass is hard to beat.....pricey but worth it

I have better luck on the rogue in cold water. By cold I mean ice around edges but of lake. Often it’s a pull (not a jerk) of 6-8”s followed by a painful 10 second pause. 18-20”s of water visibility I like the blue back/orange belly weighted to suspend in cold water.
The Smithwick 'Potato Chip' Rogue. For a budget fisherman, it's a good jerkbait to put on my test rod. If all is clear, I pull out the Megabass for the real deal.
Looks like the American equivalent requires a bit of tuning. And has the ability to get bit,but japanese realistic baits with better technology and more premium hardware is litespeed ahead of the originals.
Question: Is there a reason you cut the line above the knot? Is it just something you do? I have noticed on several lures you have held up there is line on them. Probably a stupid question but thought it was worth asking.
The first few inches is where line fray usually occurs so it’s safest to cut above the knot so fray doesn’t become part of your next knot on the mainline.

Am I the only one that has caught way more bass on the KVD jerk baits than any other jerk bait? I have all of them in my box. I still reach for the KVD perch colored jerk bait and will wear them out. I do put better hooks on it but I do that to every production lure not just KVD lures. I have not found a production lure that I have bought that has good hooks. Except maybe the whooper plopper? Get them in your hand and you will soon find out how good of quality the hooks are made of when you are trying to cut them with pilars!!! I am a electrician by trade and I carry a pair of Klein side cuts everywhere I go. The whoppper plopper made them grunt a little.

This is what I want to leave here as my case in point. Randy tells you the Vision is the best. The question is can Randy tell you what are the attributes that make it the best? Why is this one better than the others? All I heard was quality and paint, which I have already disproved. What about in the performance? The fact is that once you know all the things that make a jerkbait (lure) works, then you will come to understand which is best, and best is an overall assessment, not definite. Even if you have the best jerkbait, you still have to factor in situations and applications. Me, I have a good understanding of jerkbaits in general from using a lot of brands, and I have a good understanding of what makes a Megabass so good. I will admit they are among the best in terms of catching fishing. Quality? Bad. I don't like them for the price, but mainly that they will break moreso than a Chinese. I am saying that from experience and my integrity rides on what I say and do. Why would I buy something that I already know something else works better and that I will be throwing my hard-earned cash away? It's like Japanese have zero respect for our dollars if you ask me, and that is disrespectful to me. Do they know I work 12-13 hour shifts doing labor in the sun? Now, if they were going in blind and remain blind, we cannot blame them. They know what kind cheap plastic they use, what kind of components they use, what kind of paint they use, etc. It's not like they don't know or anyone hasn't told them. Just like Okuma and Shimano. I keep telling them all their rods break. Do they listen? No. That's why I have no respect for them. If they want integrity, they gotta build it. You can't just make anything and expect to live off the name or something. Maybe they will get amater money. Not from me. My initial point is as long as you know what makes a lure tick, you know what you want....you know what's best. It's like a typical rod reviewer. To him the most important thing is the feel or sensitivity. To me, it's more than that. In guns, the feel refers to the handling/grip, not the same. To me, I am more interested in the catch ratio. I want to know if by using any lure, can I set the hook all all types of fish. I want to know if when I set the hook, will the fish get pinned. That's what makes me better than KVD. He was endorsed by Quantum, so he was losing his jerkbait fish. When a fish hits my lure, they automatically get stuck. That's the level I am at. That's why KVD will get dismantle on the quick quick when he decides to answer my call. I have too many skills over him. That is absolutely a fact. The sad truth is he knows this himself like Mayweather would never do mma.
Smithwick is too old school. They catch fish. They iconic. Doesn't mean they are best. I can even prove it. Smithwick has a straight jerk or a linear action. This is something that is less effective and does not pass my standardized test. The Rogue also does not roll well on the pause. On the straight retrieve, the roll is fine. Rogue also have very nasty colors and paint in general. Other issues include riding higher in the water column and too light to cast. The main problem with Randy's videos is that he fishes mainly Table Rock. This does not account for other lakes across the US, which speaks to the effectiveness of these lures. You can't compare a Smithwick against a Vision 110. Totally different lures or class. This is why I have said that the art has advanced so far that these old schoolers will never defeat someone like me bc we specialized in Japanese technologies and old school mainstays. KVD has nothing on a youngster with simply the skills in JDM. That's a fact. If you round someone's Japanese studies with domestic and international lessons, there is no way KVD will take you or me. You see my point? Anyone who strictly endorses a brand cannot fish to me....and that to me means at the optimal...they may not be amaters, but they are also not elites. Somewhere in the middle you rate their skills. These Megabass fans love to say Megabass is the best. Well, I know lots of waters around here that the Megabass will flat out fail. How then is that possible?
Give Randy a break here, he has fished Jerkbaits for years. He is trying to give you what works for him, and he has fished all over the country with them.
He is right but I'm also with you you have to know how to fish them all in the right condition' s to be the best and allow God to show and show us as people up too
