Now that is more like the Presto that I think Beethoven intended. Every other version I have heard is way too slow. Of course they are allowed to play it slowly if they like, that is the freedom of any interpretative artist, but I don't think you can hear all the effects Beethoven intended until it is heard at Pollini's speed.
Its nice to have options for Beethoven pieces besides Barenboim, Ashkenazi, and Arrau. Thank you for uploading this! :) But the other movements are silent! Please re-upload/fix.
It's the recording. I'm not sure what the sound engineers at DG were doing, lbut Pollini sounds nothing like this in person. This is not that bad. His Schubert sonatas sound terrible. Even his Wanderer and D. 845 from the 70's don't sound right.
