Whoever lives with diverticulitis, Pray u NEVER end up like me. Diagnosed 5 yrs ago. Did everything according to strict orders from my Surgeon. Changed my lifestyle. I was never overweight but still lost 11 kg because of lifestyle and walking 5 km twice a week. Dropped to 55kg. 5 Feb 2020 I had aneurysm removed in one hospital....9 days later on Valentine day I ended up in another hospital with burst colon😳Placed into induced coma 6 weeks....still had to stay 4 weeks...but rushed home 25 March 2020 in time for lockdown. I weighed 43kg...woke up with stoma bag😳and had to learn to walk again. I could hardly hold a tooth brush. On 25 March 2021 I had my reversal done and gone is my Achilles Heel👏👏👏👏👏Back to 55kg and getting stronger every day. I turned 70 this year. I did everything I was told to do.....and still ended up in emergency surgery.....but grateful all went well.🙏🏻

@@commonsense6967 you can’t just decide you’re going to get surgery…. Plus… for many many people.. having surgery means a lot more than just “my problem is solved”. It usually means, many many more complications/disadvantages afterward…
Nobody wants an -ectomy of any kind if you can help it.
      Nobody wants a colectomy..
nobody wants to live with a bag the rest of their lives.
Nobody wants pain and complications until they literally just give up and choose hospice until death.

I had a flare up of mild diverticulitis that cleared up mostly, but then turned into complicated diverticulitis with perforation, free air and an abscess, I would have good days and not so good days, then turned into adhesion to my bladder and ovary and a fistula to my bladder, which I was shocked to hear as felt much better by then, but now have been diagnosed with colon cancer, I feel like the diverticulitis was a blessing in disguise because they wouldn't have found the cancer otherwise

Thankyou very much for this very informative video. I had no health issues then went to GP with stomach pains then to Hospital for a scan. Diagnosed with accute diverticulitis.Kept overnight and operated next morning then went home 17 days later with a stoma.Six months later I was Oked for a reversal opp which actually took place two months after that. That opp took eight hours, 8 days in Hospital and then another six months to get back to "normal." Had a home nursing service for ten months.(I live alone). Side effects are having to move my bowels more often and now have a paunche (Looks like a "beer gut" in Australian slang.) The experience is not something I would wish on anyone. At the time I was 77 Y/O and in good healthe. Cheers from Australia.

I had to wait about three months to see a specialist. This happen in late august and In November two days before Thanksgiving i saw the specialist and with than 10 min I was starting to get sick and the doctor he examined my tummy and said your being admitted to ER for emergency surgery. Myself Im stage 1 with free extraperitoneal air, the first attack and I'm 37 years old, I want the surgery and I don't want it in the same time, I dont know what to do! surgeons put it all on me saying that it's your call to decide whether to continue conservative treatment or to have a surgery.

This video .. was very detailed and explained . I would like to know what I should do . I was in the hospital October 2016 and was told I have diverticulitis. A month later it turned into an abcess and was back in hospital . Drainage was done , along a bag for drainage for 2 weeks . I then was following up with doctor and was ok , he suggested surgery " Yikes " after Last check up .. when he mentioned surgery . The drainage wound started to heal somewhat ' but every two weeks it would leak a little . It has been almost a year and I got same issue where it leaks and closes . I also just got an attack inflammation and , thought it was an abcess. Went to ER was given IVY and some antibiotics to take two weeks . I am having flare ups , leakage some pain . What would be the best recommendation please .. would like a second thought ' thanks anyone 🙏

Hi Freddie ! IMO the med proff don't know much about Diver. This is the first time in this vid that I've seen so much info on it. If you haven't already, google forums where people have the disease and forums where they've had the op . My friend's aunt had a few flare ups. Her last flare up was a few weeks ago. She took antibiotics for a few days . Her pain didn't ease . So she went to ER . They admitted her . After a few days they decided to operate. But her bowel perforated and she died on the operating theatre. It was too late! I think Diver is a pretty dangerous disease to have . Having the Op is much safer than not to have it. But of course do your research before you decide. The op could save your life !,

Please read my overall life-style recommendation to the girl in video"how to help children with constipation" OMG, don't the drs tell you anything about your life habits and what needs to change, and maybe provide support to do it? Maybe time to take responsibility for and charge of your own health, study - masses of high quality, easy to understand, free lessons and info on YT, f ex Dr John Bergman, Dr L Wilson's Nutritional Balancing program, but it may be too comprehensive if you only want to heal your constipation/diverticulitis.
One has to want to get well, and not think it's a qúick fix, but one has lived in ways discordant with the laws of life, and with the body. Hope you decide to turn around and get well for life. This is an unnecessary, self-imposed dis-ease. Not to blame you,; we often don't get the right food + habits from the upbringing and school, and haven't learnt it. And most of society has been getting more and more unhealthy, more distant from the life habits our gut etc needs and thrives on.

@@oldonetwoable Not with surgery, because when surgeon couldn't explain what benefit the surgery would be to me.....while still recommending it...I declined it. So far, so good. ( I had a horrendous bout of diverticulitis many years ago, and nearly died. That apparently left me with a partial blockage or narrowing of the sigmoid, that I had no idea I had till many years later, when I had a failed colonoscopy due to the partial blockage/narrowing. Followed by a virtual colonoscopy, followed by the gastroenterologists' recommendation that I have surgery to remove it and to make sure it wasn't cancer. Many months later, I still have no symptoms of this potential "cancer", although I did have a second attack of diverticulitis....which I hadn't had for many years.) I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. To be fair, the surgeon did say the surgery would prevent a future complete blockage, which he was certain I'd eventually get. I say maybe, maybe not; I'm not having any constipation/irregularity/bowel issues whatsoever. And surgery does not prevent future diverticulitis. I declined to have major surgery for "prevention" of a problem I haven't had yet, and really, may NEVER have. Of course, I do wish there were a better way of ruling out possibility of cancer in my case than having major surgery, but even surgeon didn't think it was probably cancer. Best of luck to you in your search for better health.

An excellent presentation very informative.I must have been a stage 4 because i had a sac of poison the size of a grapefruit and CT scan showed this and a fistula towards my left kidney. I went to hospital to have the poison drained but after i became very ill having further surgery to let the pus flow out after this and being on IV antibiotics I deteriorated further and had a Hartmans which saved me. This was the autumn of 2015 , 5 years on i still have my bag but have just been told after a recent CT scan that I’m right for a rejoin. The big question is as I am pain free most days and have very good quality of life do i go for it or stay as i am?

I honestly think some doctors are lazy and they don't care for the patients.
    I have multiple GI symptoms.
gastritis, constipation, intestinal inflammation, diverticolosis, digestión essues, bulchin, pain, everything I eat makes me gassy.
I have rectocele, enterocele, cistocele, overactive bladder and doctor's don't want to operate.
they don't think my constipation will improve if they put everything back in place and all they do play with my emotions asking me to have all kind of studies but not resolving anything.
Anyone here can give me an advice or any one going to something similar.?
I have diverticolosis on the descending colon and transverse colon.
There is times when I have nausea loose my appetite feel dizzy headaches and just over all Miserable 😖
Drink water change your diet do walks eat fiber take this take that.... OMG I just want to end it some times.
